Abstract

The article discusses a study which showed that a lysocardiolipin acyltransferase, lycat, is important for the establishment of both hematopoietic and endothelial lineages. Lycat mRNA rescues blood lineages in mutant embryos of zebrafish cloche. According to the study, endoplasmic reticulum-associated, transmebrane acyltransferases are necessary for regulating embryonic patterning and organogensis in different species.
