AbstractBackgroundPosttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), a term that encompasses a wide array of malignancies that occur after transplant, can be one of the most devastating transplant complications. While there have been major advancements in care, especially after the landmark PTLD-1 trial in 2012, there is a paucity of information on hospitalizations for PTLD and the changes in hospitalizations over time.MethodsThis retrospective cohort study used the National Inpatient Sample to identify hospitalizations for PTLD that occurred between 2009 and 2018. We extracted data for hospitalizations with a primary or secondary diagnosis of PTLD and examined a range of variables, including age, gender, race, hospital type, hospital location, and disposition status. We also collected data on hospital region, median household income, insurance status, and bed size.ResultsThere was a statistically significant increase in the number of hospitalizations from 2009 to 2019 and an increasing rate of hospitalizations over the study period. Hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, renal failure, and anemia were among the most common comorbidities. We found an increased mortality rate, but this was not statistically significant.ConclusionOur study provides insight into the changes in hospitalizations for PTLD over nearly a decade, showing an increase in hospitalizations and reports of comorbidities.

AbstractChilaiditi sign is a rare radiological finding in which the colon is interposed between the liver and the abdominal wall. Once patients become symptomatic, the condition is called Chilaiditi syndrome. We discuss a unique patient who presented with intermittent abdominal pain for 2 years that worsened 6 months before presentation. Her radiological evaluation revealed Chilaiditi sign. She was treated conservatively and the sign resolved. We emphasize the importance of conservative management in Chilaiditi syndrome.

Introduction:Patients with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) have numerous risk factors including but not limited to iron overload, avascular bone necrosis, infection especially acute chest syndrome and frequent pain crisis. Incidence of Clostridium Difficile infection (C. Diff) in sickle cell disease patients is lower than the general population but they are frequently hospitalized for vaso-occlusive crisis and are often given empirical antibiotic treatment which puts them at high risk for C. Diff (1). Here we are describing trends and predictors of C. Diff among SCD patients and how C.diff burgen has changed over the time in Sickle cell patients.
