This crossover study aimed to compare the anesthetic effects of buffered 2% articaine with 1:200,000 epinephrine with that of non-buffered 4% articaine with 1:200,000 epinephrine. Forty-seven volunteers were administered two doses of anesthesia in the buccal region of the second mandibular molars in two sessions using 1.8 mL of different local anesthetic solutions. The onset time and duration of pulp anesthesia, soft tissue pressure pain threshold, and the score of pain on puncture and burning during injection were evaluated. The operator, volunteers, and statistician were blinded. There were no significant differences in the parameters: onset of soft tissue anesthesia (p = 0.80), duration of soft tissue anesthesia (p = 0.10), onset of pulpal anesthesia in the second (p = 0.28) and first molars (p = 0.45), duration of pulp anesthesia of the second (p = 0.60) and first molars (p = 0.30), pain during puncture (p = 0.82) and injection (p = 0.80). No significant adverse events were observed. Buffered 2% articaine with 1:200,000 epinephrine did not differ from non-buffered 4% articaine with 1:200,000 epinephrine considering anesthetic success, safety, onset, duration of anesthesia, and pain on injection. In the last two decades, there has been a significant increase in the number of journal articles, events and research projects dedicated to the topics of emotions, affect, and spatial experiences in Brazil and Portugal. In this context, collaboration between Brazilian and Portuguese geographers is also increasing, despite the different epistemological traditions of the two geographic communities. With this in mind, in this paper, we reflect about the originality of Luso-Brazilian emotional geographies by looking at three dimensions: epistemologies, research agendas, and collaboration. We focus on how the epistemological perspectives and the social concerns of Brazilian and Portuguese geographers have shaped Portuguese-speaking emotional geographies, leading to the emergence of a research area for the study of the relations between emotions and space. This Systematic Review and Meta-analysis was conducted with the following PICOS question: patients undergoing third molar surgery (P) can benefit from low-intensity laser therapy (I) as compared to other postoperative management (C) to reduce pain, edema, and trismus (O), evaluated in previous randomized clinical trials (S). Databases used were PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, and Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, screening for studies published between 2015 and 2020. The meta-analysis was based on the standardized mean difference (SMD), under a 95% confidence interval (CI). 246 studies were initially included, and after the screening of data, 10 studies were selected for the final sample. The qualitative analysis resulted in favorable results for pain and edema management in most studies, whereas trismus remained controversial. Meta-analysis resulted in (SMD, −0.53; 95% CI, −0.82,-0.24), (SMD, −0.60; 95% CI, −0.81,-0.39), and (SMD, −0.62; 95% CI, −2.63, 1.39) for pain, edema, and trismus, respectively, indicating statistical success on pain and edema reduction, but not for trismus. LLLT can act on reducing postoperative pain and edema following third molar surgery, whereas, trismus remains not significantly changed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper discusses the paradox of atmosphere in urban tourism and reflects on how atmospheric production can become a tool to improve urban liveability. I draw on atmospheric theory and literature on tourism and atmospheres to describe the link between urban atmospheres and tourism experiences, and I draw on the literature on urban touristification to demonstrate the impacts of tourism activities in urban atmospheres and liveability. I contend that urban atmospheres must be recognized as a form of intangible heritage to ensure that urban liveability is guaranteed in touristified cities. This article explores the potential of poetry for attuning to and expressing resonance in multi-sensory geographies. I argue that poetic inquiry can provide novel ways to address sensory geographies, by shifting the focus from individual senses to a more integrated understanding of how sensory phenomena resonates across bodies and spaces. By doing this, poetry also becomes a resonant method that allows one to merge different subjectivities and express pluriversal worlds. I draw upon Erlmann's discussion of resonance as a way to overcome three dichotomies regarding knowing and the senses that have been recently contested in sensory geographies, namely the dichotomies between reasoning and the affective, the external and internal, and attention and distraction. In order to demonstrate the potential of poetry as a resonant method, I present a poetic exploration of the life of the Staines Reservoirs. The findings of this experiment show that poetry can be a resonant method when the geographer-poet is attuned to the way in which thinking and feeling are intertwined, the ways in which the senses mix themselves in the experience of the world, and the ways in which the world resonates within bodies and bodies echo in the world. • Poetry can provide a methodological alternative for sensory geographies. • Poetic inquiry is a promising method to evoke resonance in everyday experiences. • A resonant approach allows integrated understandings of sensory phenomena.
