The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus challenged our everyday life and habits developed in our work and living environment. The highly contagious disease has led the whole world to unprecedented business, humanitarian and human challenges. But, as always, any risk can be recognized as a new opportunity. Thus, people around the world have redefined their understanding of health and well-being. However, it is important to recognize that people across the world and in different industries will continue to take advantage of this large-scale experiment caused by the pandemic and may choose to rethink established concepts, habits, and policies. This paper aims to explore students' Covid-19 digital health literacy (HL) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". A standardized questionnaire and scale were used, which aims in providing the ability to compare the results with other students from other countries, and specialties. The results so far show students reported high levels of digital HL, and an ability to use various sources of information. Our students have strong skills in searching for information; use reasonable criteria to perceive the information, but face some issues when sharing information on social media. The collected results can be used as an instrument to evaluate the current state and propose steps for the future improvement of lifelong learning priorities, both for students and the general public. The creation of Smart Cities is an emerging research and application field that has the objective to increase city resilience and improve the quality of life for citizens. In this paper an extensive and thorough gap analysis that was performed in the framework of the SMURBS 1 1 https://smurbs.eu/ project is presented. The gap analysis identified 117 gaps in the legal, methodological, and technological framework, in the thematic areas of air quality, disasters, urban growth and migration. Several holistic approaches are based on the description of socio-ecological systems to address the sustainability challenge. Essential Variables (EVs) have the potential to support these approaches by describing the status of the Earth system through monitoring and modeling. The different classes of EVs can be organized along the environmental policy framework of Drivers, Pressures, States, Impacts and Responses. The EV concept represents an opportunity to strengthen monitoring systems by providing observations to seize the fundamental dimensions of the Earth system The Group on Earth Observation (GEO) is a partnership of 113 nations and 134 participating organizations in 2021 that are dedicated to making Earth Observation (EO) data available globally to inform about the state of the environment and enable data-driven decision processes. GEO is building the Global Earth Observation System of Systems, a set of coordinated and independent EO, information and processing systems that interoperate to provide access to EO for users in the public and private sectors. The progresses made in the development of various classes of EVs are described with their main policy targets, Internet links and key references The paper reviews the literature on EVs and describes the main contributions of the EU GEOEssential project to integrate EVs within the work plan of GEO in order to better address selected environmental policies and the SDGs. A new GEO-EVs community has been set to discuss about the current status of the EVs, exchange knowledge, experiences and assess the gaps to be solved in their communities of providers and users. A set of four traits characterizing an EV was put forward to describe the entire socio-ecological system of planet Earth: Essentiality, Evolvability, Unambiguity, and Feasibility. A workflow from the identification of EO data sources to the final visualization of SDG 15.3.1 indicators on land degradation is demonstrated, spanning through the use of different EVs, the definition of the knowledge base on this indicator, the implementation of the workflow in the VLab (a cloud-based processing infrastructure), the presentation of the outputs on a dedicated dashboard and the corresponding narrative through a story map. The concept of EV started in the climate sphere and spread to other domains of the earth system but less so in socio-economic activities. More work is therefore needed to converge on a common definition and criteria in order to complete the implementation of EVs in all GEO focus areas. Highlights • Single-date and multi-seasonal Sentinel-2 models for GSV prediction were developed based on the bagging LASSO algorithm. • GSV models were developed using the original bands and various spectral and spatial features extracted from the images. • The synthetic spectral bands models presented a subtle improvement over the original Sentinel-2 bands models. • Overall, the most accurate GSV models were developed using GLCM texture measures. • Images acquired during dry season, leaf-on conditions appear to be more appropriate for GSV prediction. Abstract Accurate growing stock volume (GSV) estimation is essential for forest inventory updating, terrestrial carbon stocks reporting, and ecosystem services assessment. This study investigates the potential of spectral and spatial features derived from single-date and multi-seasonal Sentinel-2 Multi Spectral Instrument (Sentinel-2 MSI) images, for GSV estimation in a Mediterranean region of Northeastern Greece. Original spectral bands, spectral indices, first-order statistics, Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) texture measures, and Local Indicators of Spatial Association (LISA), based on the multi-seasonal and single-date Sentinel-2 MSI imagery, were used for GSV model development using the bagging LASSO algorithm. For both single and multi-date approaches, the spectral indices models were more accurate compared to the respective ones developed with the original Sentinel-2 MSI bands. Also, models based on texture were more efficient than the spectral models. The GLCM measures derived from July image, provided the most accurate single-date estimate of GSV (R2 = 0.89, RMSE = 35.21), while their multi-seasonal counterparts improved slightly the accuracy (R2 = 0.91, RMSE = 32.77). Fusion of spatial and textural information resulted in marginal or no-improvement on the texture model accuracy, however the fused models yielded higher predictive results than the spectral models alone. The article presents a study which discusses the effects of practices of coercive education in child and adolescent development. It says that the use of physical force in coercive education is associated with negative development of child and adolescent. It also discusses the forms of giving instruments to education professionals to help them sort out cases where physical violence and coercive education are being used to teach children.

Abstract: Improvements in sensor technology in recent decades led to the creation of ground, air and space imaging systems, whose data can be used in archaeological studies. Greece is one of the lucky areas that are rich in archaeological heritage. The detection of prehistoric/historic undiscovered constructions on satellite images or aerial photos is a complex and complicated matter. These marks are not visible from the ground, they can, however, be traced on satellite or aerial images, because of the differences in tone and texture. These differences appear as crop, soil and shadow marks. Undoubtedly, the detection of buried structures requires a suitable spatial resolution image, taken under appropriate meteorological conditions and during the best period of the vegetation growing cycle. According to the pertinent literature, detecting covered memorials may be achieved either accidentally or, usually, after a systematic investigation based on historical narratives. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that facilitate or hinder the detection of buried structures through high spatial resolution satellite imagery. In this study, pan sharpened images from the QuickBird-2 satellite were used, of a spatial resolution of 0.60-0.70m. This study concerns the detection of marks of the ancient Via Egnatia, from the ancient Amphipolis to Philippi (Eastern Macedonia, Greece). We studied different types of vegetation in the region and their phenological cycle. Taking into account the vegetation phenological cycle of the study area as well as the meteorological data, four pan sharpened QuickBird-2 images of a spatial resolution of 0.60–0.70m. were used, during four different seasons. By processing the four images, we can determine the one acquired during the most appropriate conditions for the detection of buried structures. The application of this methodology in the study area had positive results, and not only was the main purpose of this study – the detection of parts of the ancient Via Egnatia – achieved, but the locations of dozens of other buried archaeological remains were also determined. The article reports on various experiences of multiparous women between 16 to 22 years of age about the planned or unplanned pregnancy. It focuses on various experiences which include childbirth, motherhood at the young age and reaction to the second pregnancy news. The article states the experience of pregnancy is bit problematic but still is positively analyzed by the youngsters.

The sense of Presence is a crucial issue in virtual environments and can provide effectiveness and user engagement. A research undertaken in virtual museum websites investigated the level of Presence, the sense of being in the virtual environment and their interconnections with the various technologies they use for presenting their cultural exhibits, The main aim of the study was to explore the differences in Presence experience according to the IT tools they use. • Urban structure contributes to the sustainability of urban areas. • Composite indicators represent a useful tool for measuring the internal structure of urban areas. • There is a uniform increase in urban structure sustainability of areas in and around British city centres. • Urban structure sustainability has been improved in areas with an increase in walkable spaces. Current planning strategies promoting suburbanisation, land use zoning and low built-up density areas tend to increase the environmental footprint of cities. In the last decades, international and local government plans are increasingly targeted at making urban areas more sustainable. Urban structure has been proved to be an important factor guiding urban smart growth policies that promote sustainable urban environments and improve neighbourhood social cohesion. This paper draws on a series of unique historical datasets obtained from Ordnance Survey, covering the largest British urban areas over the last 15 years (2001–2016) to develop a set of twelve indicators and a composite Sustainable Urban Development Index to quantitatively measure and assess key built environment features and their relative change compared to other areas at each point in time based on regular 1 km2 grids. The results show that there is a relative increase in urban structure sustainability of areas in and around city centres and identify that the primary built environment feature driving these improvements was an increase in walkable spaces. The whitefly Bemisia tabaci is the second most widespread and economically important arthropod pest in the world, with frequent population outbreaks occurring in Brazil and increasing economic damage on soybean crops. High oviposition rate, short life cycle and uneven distribution along the plants' canopy favour the dissemination of B. tabaci within soybean crops and compromise the efficacy of control measures. The objective of this work was to quantify soybean yield reduction caused by B. tabaci damage and propose an economic injury level (EIL) for this pest in soybean crops. Experimental design was randomized blocks with four replicates. Soybean grain yield and its components (number of pods, number of grains and 1000-grain weight) were quantified in relation to different levels of B. tabaci infestation in two cropping seasons, obtained through insecticide sprays carried out at different growth stages of the soybean plants. The resulting data were submitted to variance analysis, mean separation test and regression analysis. We found that a population density of one whitefly trifoliate−1 reduces from 0.88 to 1.79 grains plant−1, 0.16 ± 0.01 g plant−1 or 31.24 ± 4.21 kg ha−1of grain yield, and varies in response for pods plant−1 and 1000-grains weight. Based on this information, we suggest an economic injury level of 1.465 ± 0.195 B. tabaci trifoliate−1, considering a control cost of US$ 20.00 ha-1 and soybean crop value of US$ 400.00 tonne−1. • The number of B. tabaci soybean trifoliate−1 is decisive for the level of control. • The population peak was reached during soybean reproductive phases. • The economic injury level of B. tabaci in soybean is 1.465 ± 0.195 trifoliate−1. • One B. tabaci trifoliate−1 reduced 0.16 ± 0.01 g plant−1 or 31.24 ± 4.21 kg ha−1. • One B. tabaci trifoliate−1 reduced 0.88 to 1.79 grains plant−1.
