Children living with thalassemia experience psychological challenges, but despite significant psychosocial burdens, caregivers' psychological wellbeing and quality of life remain understudied, particularly in lower-and-middle-income countries. The current study evaluated these relationships in 100 male and female Pakistani caregivers (23–45 years; 61% female) using Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale and the Singapore Caregiver Quality of Life Scale. Caregivers completed questionnaires during regularly scheduled clinic visits for their child. We found that Pakistani caregivers in our sample generally had significantly lower (30–40 points) quality of life than a referent sample of caregivers of older adults (ps < 0.001). Self-acceptance and personal growth were consistently significant predictors across quality of life domains. Further, significant interactions were observed. Female caregivers with less self-acceptance had worse mental health and wellbeing and impact on daily life (p <.05). Male caregivers with less personal growth had worse physical health wellbeing (p <.05). Our results demonstrate the importance of considering how distinct aspects of psychological wellbeing, rather than just the overall score, relate to the specific quality of life domains among male and female caregivers. Pediatric nurses are at the frontline of service delivery for children and are in a prime position to observe caregivers who could be at high risk for psychological challenges. Given our findings, future clinical interventions should prioritize support services promoting personal growth and self-acceptance for Pakistani caregivers of children living with thalassemia. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) utilize counseling to support the psychological wellbeing of people with post-stroke aphasia, however, SLPs receive variable, usually limited, counseling education. Counseling education may be effective in improving SLPs' knowledge, skills, and confidence in counseling in post-stroke aphasia. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a novel online counseling education program for SLPs working with people with post-stroke aphasia. Our study was a Phase II, two-arm pilot randomized controlled trial with a waitlist control. Participants (n = 49) were stratified by previous counseling training (≥1 day) and co-work with psychologists when addressing psychological wellbeing in post-stroke aphasia, and randomized to either the education program or waitlist control arm. We developed an education program (7-hours self-directed learning; 3-hour online workshop) for the trial. Feasibility outcomes included SLP recruitment, workshop attendance, and participant attrition at follow-up. Participants' counseling self-efficacy and self-rated competency were assessed pre- and post-program (primary endpoint) and at 5-week follow-up. Forty-four (90%) participants attended the workshop with forty-one (84%) participants completing the trial. There was a significant interaction (large effect size) between time and group supporting a positive effect of the program on counseling self-efficacy, F(1,44) = 39.402, p <. 0005, ηp2 =. 472 and self-rated competency for counseling, F(1,44) = 31.824, p <. 0005, ηp2 =. 420. The effects were maintained at follow-up with self-rated competency scores demonstrating further significant improvement. The study investigates students' perspectives on incorporating sexual health education into the curriculum of secondary schools in rural Bangalore. Focused on assessing how such education impacts students' physical and psychological well-being, confidence, and ability to make informed decisions, the research collected data from 981 students across 6th to 10th grades. A structured questionnaire, measured on a five-point Likert scale, explored students' perceptions of sexual health education and its outcomes. After a meticulous data cleaning process, which included outlier removal, the study utilized a final sample of 900 students. IBM SPSS 25 and AMOS 25 facilitated the statistical analysis. The findings underscore the significant positive effect of sexual health education on students' confidence levels. It highlights how this form of education aids in maintaining personal hygiene and fosters balanced decision-making skills among students. The study's results advocate for the implementation of sexual health education in schools, emphasizing its role in enhancing student wellbeing and confidence. Additionally, it contributes to defining the scope and framework of a sexual health education curriculum from the students' perspective in rural Bangalore schools, aligning educational objectives with the actual needs and perceptions of the student body. With the widespread use of the cell phone and the internet, adolescents' social relationships have evolved dramatically in recent years. The advancement of electronic gadgets and software programs has opened up new avenues for forming new friendships and keeping in touch with old ones. However, despite their numerous benefits, their improper usage can result in catastrophic issues with one where they can become targets to harsh online bullying and this feeling of being victimized online has grave consequences and adverse effects on the psychological wellbeing of Adolescents, especially their developing self-esteem. The aim of this research was to assess and analyze the impact of Cybervictimization on the Self-esteem of Indian Adolescents for which 70 Indian Adolescents who were pursuing their higher education in various high schools and colleges across India were chosen as participants. The research was conducted following a proper data collection method and a proper scoring procedure was employed. The two questionnaires used to obtain data for this research were the Adolescent Cyber-Victimization Scale (CYBVICS) which was developed by S Buelga et al., (2012) and the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale by Rosenberg (1965). No studies have investigated the impact of an economic empowerment intervention on child psychological and emotional problems and prosocial behavior. Therefore, we aimed to examine the impact of a family economic empowerment intervention on psychological difficulties and prosocial behavior among AIDS-orphaned adolescents. We analyzed data from a two-arm cluster randomized controlled trial conducted in 10 primary schools in southern Uganda. Schools were randomized to either bolstered usual care (n = 5 schools; 167 participants) or a family-economic empowerment intervention (Suubi-Maka; n = 5 schools; 179 individuals). We used t -test and multi-level mixed effects models to examine the impact of Suubi-Maka on psychological and behavioral outcomes. No differences were observed between intervention and control groups in almost all the outcomes at baseline, 12 months, and 24 months. Simple main effects comparisons of 12 months versus baseline within each condition indicate modest to significant declines in emotional symptoms, hyperactivity, peer relationships (Δs = −1.00 to −2.11, all p <.001), and total difficulties (Δs = −4.85 to −4.89, both p <.001) across both groups. Our analysis found no meaningful difference between intervention and control groups in child psychological difficulties and prosocial behavior postintervention. Contemporary mental health models simultaneously consider psychological distress and wellness. Researchers have proposed that adhering to the 24-hour movement guidelines (24-HMG) contributes to mental health. 24-HMG integrates recommendations of time distribution among sleep, screen use, and moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA). Yet, there are few studies on the relationship between meeting 24-HMG and mental health, especially mental wellbeing. This study aimed to examine the associations between adherence to 24-HMG with mental wellbeing and mental illness among Chinese adolescents. Cross-sectional data of 67,281 Chinese adolescents aged 10–17 years (mean age = 13.0 years, 51.9% males) were collected by sending online questionnaires to local primary and middle schools in Shenzhen in 2021. We used multilevel generalized linear models to analyze associations between meeting 24-HMG with mental wellbeing (subjective wellbeing, resilience, and positive youth development) and mental illness (depression and anxiety). Only 1.7% of participants met recommendations for all three behaviors (sleep, screen use, and MVPA). Compared with meeting none of the recommendations, participants who met one or more recommendations reported significantly better performance in mental wellbeing (all p <.001); on the contrary, meeting one or more recommendations (except for only meeting the MVPA recommendation) were significantly related to lower severity of mental illness (all p <.001). The relationship between the number of recommendations met with mental well-being and mental illness indicators presented a dose-response pattern (all p <.001). Meeting 24-HMG was associated with superior mental health, including a higher propensity for mental wellbeing and a lower risk of mental illness. The study explores the extent of teachers' support and levels of students' psychological well-being at the primary level after transitioning back to physical classes. Amixed-method research study was designed, utilizing a self-developed mixed-questionnaire incorporating 49 fixed response items and two extended response questions. Alpha coefficient of reliability was r= .899 after piloting. Data had been collected from 323 students (n=323) enrolled in grade 4 and 5 from16 schools (both public and private) in Sargodha District via convenience sampling. Results revealed above average levels of perceived teachers' support (67.7%), whereas students' psychological well-being was reported to be at better end, i.e.71.3%.A positive relationship (r=.221) was found between perceived teachers' support and students' psychological well-being. Also, perceived teachers' support and students' psychological well-being remained same irrespective of students' gender, class, locality and school type. Thematic analysis on extended responses revealed that teacher supported students through using different instructional methods and cooperative behaviors. Students were aspired and happy to be associated with schools and socialize with teachers and friends. However, alongside, the study also revealed saddened state of affairs for quite a few bulk of students who highlighted teachers' beating, scolding and not delivering the lessons, instead assigning domestic tasks to students at school. Also, absence of co-curricular activities, plays, game periods, all were found a miss, perhaps were not on the priority list of schools. Many weaknesses related to poor infrastructure, such as, suffocated classrooms, load shedding, non-availability of clean drinking water and such basic issues came to light. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Aims: Diabetes is a chronic metabolic condition characterized by hyperglycemia and is associated with several complications. Prevalence of Diabetes in adult population in India ranges from 10.9 to 14.2% in urban area and 3.0-7.8% in rural area. Glycemic control is an important factor in preventing the complications associated with diabetes. HBA1c is the indicator of long-term glycemic control and slight variation in it significantly alters the risk of diabetic complications. Thus, the aim of this study was to study the change in HBA1c levels due to lock down in patients with diabetes.Methods: 307 patients with diabetes who had attended our endocrine OPD in last 3 months before nationwide 68 days lockdown from 24 March 2020 to 31 May 2020, and had recent HBA1c report in past and willing to participate were included in the study after informed consent from 2nd June 2020 to 14th June 2020 when first phase of Unlock started, to identify the change in HBA1c levels during the lockdown period in our patients with diabetes.Results: The patients were aged between 25-69 years and male to female ratio was 181:126 (1.44: 1). The mean age and mean duration of diabetes in our patients was 55.68 years and 7.95 years respectively. Increment of 0.51% was seen in mean HBA1c levels in our patient from 7.92% mean pre-lockdown HBA1c to mean of 8.43% after release of lock down.Conclusion: Glycemic control got deranged during lockdown period with significant increase of mean HBA1c by 0.51% in immediate post lock down period which may significantly increase the annual incidence of complications related to diabetes. Background: Student mental health is actively promoted in a mentally safe and healthy workplace that takes all necessary precautions to minimize the risk to students psychological wellbeing. However, studies show that most medical science students are at risk at work, and there is little literature on the nature of the relationship between psychological risk at work and the mental well-being of medical science students. Objective: This study investigated the psychological wellbeing of medical science students at a university in Nigeria. Method: A descriptive survey research design was adopted using a sample of 107 medical science students from University of Nigeria. Data were collected using psychological well-being (α = 0.89) based on a scientific research paradigm and a quantitative research approach. Data were analysed using a percentage and bar chart. Result: The result showed that the psychological wellbeing of the medical science students was poor. The implication of the finding is that the students will not do better academically with a poor psychological wellbeing. Though leisure is noted to possess therapeutic efficacy, its impact on the psychological wellbeing of people with visual impairment, particularly in Africa has received little research attention. The burden of disability on the psychological wellbeing of people with visual impairment in African societies makes it imperative to understand how leisure contributes to their psychological wellbeing. Based on individual interviews with 43 people with visual impairment in Ghana, this study finds that the people with visual impairment participate in passive leisure activities and are not satisfied with their psychological wellbeing. Further, the findings indicate that leisure enhances and diminishes the psychological wellbeing of the people with visual impairment. In terms of enhancement of psychological wellbeing, leisure served as a space for reflection and recuperation and as a space for social interaction and bonding. Regarding decline in psychological wellbeing, leisure reinforced their loneliness and thereby triggered negative self-thoughts. Background/purpose: This study examined the prevalence and related factors of multiple (two or three) types of harassment victimization, including school bullying, cyberbullying, and teacher harassment, and their cumulative effects on depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and suicidality in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) but without intellectual disability.Methods: A total of 219 adolescents with ASD but without intellectual disability and their parents participated in this study. Their experiences of school bullying, cyberbullying, and teacher harassment were evaluated. The related factors of multiple types of harassment victimization, including demographic characteristics, socio-communicative skills, comorbid attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) symptoms, were examined. Moreover, the effects of multiple types of harassment victimization on depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and suicidality were examined.Results: In total, 20.54% of participants were victims of multiple types of harassment. Hyperactivity or impulsivity and ODD symptoms were positively associated with multiple types of harassment victimization. Adolescents with ASD who experienced multiple types of harassment victimization had higher severities of depression and anxiety and were more likely to have suicidality than nonvictims and those who experienced only one type of harassment victimization.Conclusion: Experiencing more than one type of harassment victimization was significantly associated with the development of mental health problems in adolescents with ASD. Final year nursing students may experience higher levels of stress owing to the increasing complexity and expectations from their clinical practicums. Enhancing psychological readiness may be a potential strategy to enhance nursing students' transition to the clinical area. To evaluate the effects of a psychological readiness enhancement for transition to professional practice program and a 10-week clinical practicum on students' psychological wellbeing, resilience, practice readiness and confidence. A sequential mixed-methods approach comprising of a single-group evaluation and descriptive qualitative study. Final year nursing students enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program from one autonomous university in Singapore was recruited. 148 final year nursing students participated in the single-group evaluation study. A total of 24 participants who completed the psychological readiness program were recruited in the qualitative study. This study included two phases. Phase I comprised of an evaluation of a blended psychological readiness program and clinical practicum. Data was collected across three waves to assess nursing students' psychological wellbeing, resilience, practice readiness and confidence. In Phase II, a qualitative study using individual semi-structured online interviews was conducted to examine students' experiences of the psychological readiness program and clinical practicum. The psychological readiness program led to significant changes in students' anxiety and patient centeredness scores. The accumulated effects of the psychological readiness and clinical practicum showed significant improvements in students' practice readiness and confidence. Although there were no significant improvements in depression, stress and resilience scores, there were improvements in the trend across three waves. Students attributed these improvements to the psychological readiness program and sharing by the alumni. The findings of this study laid the foundation for the development of psychological readiness programs. Many higher-weight individuals have internalised societal weight stigma, devaluing themselves because of their weight. Rejecting and challenging societal devaluation is generally associated with superior outcomes compared with stigma internalisation or inaction; however, stigma resistance has not been studied in higher-weight individuals, despite ubiquitous weight stigma in daily life. Applying a social identity framework, we utilised decision tree analysis to explore predictors of responses to weight stigma in 931 self-classified higher-weight individuals. While ingroup identification with the group 'Fat' was the major predictor of stigma resistance (versus internalisation), perceived illegitimacy of societal weight stigma defined a subgroup of resisters even in the absence of group identity. Cases of intimate partner violence increased manifold across the world during COVID-19. Researchers have been trying to find out indigenous factors leading to such behaviors, especially among men. Using the lens of the exosystem factor model of ecological theory, we designed the current study to identify the socioeconomic factors in deciding on the intensity of intimate partner violence and its subsequent impact on the psychological and physical wellbeing of women. In this regard, financial autonomy and asset ownership status of women, as well as financial issues and drug abuse among men, were studied as major factors. The study also investigated the moderating role of the asset ownership status of women. A multistage cluster sampling technique was used to collect data from 1516 females in three waves through trained enumerators. We analyzed the moderated mediation model using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique in AMOS version 26. Results indicated that financial autonomy and asset ownership status of women are negatively related to intimate partner violence and positively related to the psychological and physical wellbeing of women. Similarly, financial issues and drug abuse among men were found positively related to intimate partner violence and negatively related to the psychological and physical wellbeing of women. The interaction effect of the asset ownership status of women was also significant. Overall, significant moderated mediation was found. The results have several implications for various stakeholders including society, policymakers, and researchers. The study has extended the validity of the exosystem factor model of ecological theory and significantly contributed to the literature on intimate partner violence. Especially the moderating role of the asset ownership status of women based on their inherited assets was a significant contribution, especially in the context of the recent enforcement of “Women’s Property Rights Act 2021” by Pakistan. Adolescents living with chronic conditions (ALWCCs) are at a higher risk of suicide (odds ratio: 4.3) than their peers. No consensus exists in the scientific community on a definition or conceptual elements of emotional well-being in this vulnerable population, hindering informed interventional research. This study investigated the meaning of emotional well-being in ALWCCs. A systematic metasynthesis of the qualitative literature was performed and structured using ENTREQ guidelines for reporting qualitative metasynthesis. A final sample of 11 primary qualitative studies met inclusion criteria and was critically analyzed using a team-based thematic synthesis and reciprocal translation approach. The meaning of emotional well-being in ALWCCs is having positive relationships that ease loss, foster hope and resilience, and promote self-efficacy and self-actualization. The role of healthcare providers as a safe, stable nurturing relationship which promotes hope and positive body image emerges an area for future research. Organizations and Governments need to critically experience the change management processes to understand and build planned organizational change models. Throughout these processes, religiosity and spirituality play a pivotal role in broadening our scientific understanding about the key philosophies of sustainable change leadership. This study builds onto these arguments while presenting a strong case of religious liberties, especially through the lens of The Satanic Temple (TST) alongside contextualizing the application of change. The manuscript successfully delineated the process of change management and philosophical sustainability by conducting large scale literature reviews and theoretical analyses characterized by micro and macro understandings of a variety of contextual variables and research ideas. Broadly, these included exploring the boundaries of political pressures and human rights, investigating the different perspectives of engines of change in society, bridging the gaps between political and socio-legal viewpoints of religiosity and spirituality, analyzing key roles played by TST in business and society, considering multiple outlooks of effective change communication in organizations and governments, and eventually examining the sustainability dimensions of effective change management. This study focuses to test the effect of authentic leadership on the performance of middle managers through the leader-member exchange as an intervening variable. This study involved 50 middle managers as the respondents. The data were collected through a survey which was done online and offline. The data analysis method in this study is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results of this study indicate that authentic leadership shows a significant influence on the performance of middle managers and the leader-member exchange. Moreover, the leader-member exchange is also known to partially mediate the effect of authentic leadership on the performance of middle managers. This is worth investigating because the exchange relationship between leaders and middle managers can be used as a mechanism that connects the influence of authentic leadership and their performance. This study examined the extent to which maintaining ambivalent relationships with specific types of relationship maintenance behaviors relates to states of psychological distress and well-being. Survey data from 206 participants indicated that ambivalence toward a relationship partner associated with increased negative affect, and although ambivalence by itself did not relate to any specific relational maintenance behavior, the reported use of positivity to maintain such relationships inversely related to levels of negative affect and depression, whereas the use of openness related to increased levels of negative affect, increased depression, and reduced levels of overall life satisfaction. Considering the enormous responsibilities placed on school librarians, this study explored the sociodemographic determinants of school librarians' psychological wellbeing in Nigeria. This study used an ex-post facto research design. Drawing from the scientific research paradigm and quantitative research approach, data were obtained on 145 school librarians using the Psychological wellbeing scale (a = .82). The 145 librarians were sampled from both Federal and state Universities in southeast Nigeria. The data were analysed using the mean and analysis of variance. The study found that, while age had no significant (p > .05) influence on librarians' psychological wellbeing, qualification had a significant (p < .05) influence on librarians' psychological wellbeing. As a result, librarians' qualifications are a crucial driver of their psychological wellbeing. Thus, it was suggested that librarians' qualifications be prioritized during their employment. Discrimination has a negative impact on minority group members' wellbeing, particularly immigrants. Yet, empirical research investigating coping mechanisms against perceived discrimination among immigrants remains scarce. The present study examined the association between perceived ethnic discrimination and eudaimonic (psychological and social) wellbeing among immigrants by assessing the role of intergroup (downward and upward) and intrapersonal (temporal) comparisons as coping mechanisms in this association. Using a representative sample comprising five foreign-born immigrant groups (N = 1250) in Spain, we found that immigrants tend to engage in more favorable downward and upward intergroup comparisons in response to perceived discrimination, but lower temporal intrapersonal comparisons. Downward intergroup comparison was related to lower psychological wellbeing and upward intergroup comparison was associated with higher psychological wellbeing. Temporal intrapersonal comparison was predominately predictive of psychological and social wellbeing. Background: Due to the developmental characteristics of adolescence and many tasks, adolescents are delaying tasks. These academic delay activities lead to stress, and furthermore, some of these stresses lead to problem behaviors. It is necessary to prepare academic interests and alternatives to these issues. Objectives: This study aimed to suggest interventions for preventing problem behaviors in adolescents by analyzing whether hope moderates the mediating effect of psychological well-being in the relationship between academic procrastination and problem behaviors for middle and high school students. Methods: The survey target was 579 middle, and high school students residing in three counties, D, H, and T, in the northwestern part of Chungnam province, who are selected using a convenience sampling method. For data collection, a paper questionnaire methods were performed. For statistical techniques, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, Pearson's bivariate correlation analysis, and moderated mediation effect analysis were applied. Results: First, academic procrastination was positively correlated with hope and internalized problem behaviors, but it was not significantly correlated with psychological wellbeing and externalized problem behaviors. Hope was positively correlated with psychological wellbeing and negatively correlated with internalized problem behaviors and externalized problem behaviors. And psychological well-being was negatively correlated with internalized problem behaviors and externalized problem behaviors. Second, hope moderated the effects of academic procrastination on internalized and externalized problem behaviors through psychological wellbeing. Conclusions: This study suggested that it is possible to increase hope in order to alleviate the effect of academic procrastination on problem behaviors through psychological wellbeing. The concern of this study was to determine the current state of psychological wellbeing of unemployed distinction graduates in Nigeria and some of the factors that contributed to their wellbeing. The results revealed that the psycho-logical wellbeing of unemployed distinction graduates was moderately high and positive. The collective impact of the factors yielded a coefficient R = 0.497 and R2 = 0.247 variance in the prediction of a positive state of psychological wellbeing. Further, the contribution of resilience was the highest at 26.6% (β =.266, t=2.428; p<0.05); followed by religiosity 17.5% (β =.175, t= 1.266; p<0.05); openness 16.1% (β =.161, t=1.476; p<0.05); agreeability 15.9% (β =.159, t=1.495; p<0.05) and neuroticism 12% (β =.120, t=864; p<0.05) towards their positive psychological wellbeing. Psychological well-being has been defined as the result of managing situations related to one's existence throughout his life. At the same time, it is a phenomenon that occurs as a result of the well-being of life, feeling good, and efficient behavior. The main purpose of this research is to explore the moderating role of psychological well-being on the effect of psychological capital on job satisfaction. Based on that, a survey is conducted on 141 participants who work in the energy sector in Turkey. The psychological capital scale was developed by Luthans et al. (2007) was used to measure psychological capital. The scale developed by Hackman and Oldman (1975) was used to measure job satisfaction. For the measurement of psychological wellbeing, the scale developed by Ryff (1989) and consisting of 84 items was used, which was later reduced to 18 items by Ryff and Keyes (1995). According to the results of the analysis, while there was a relationship between psychological capital and job satisfaction, it was revealed that psychological well-being did not has a moderating role between these two variables. When the relationship between the variables is examined, it was observed that there is a significant relationship between psychological well-being and psychological capital, psychological well-being and job satisfaction, and psychological capital and job satisfaction. Background: Changes in older people's symptoms across recent decades have not been investigated. Aims: We analyzed temporal trends in symptom burden by comparing data from independent, cross-sectional cohorts retrieved in 1989, 1999, 2009, and 2019. Furthermore, we compared the association between symptom burden and psychological wellbeing (PWB) in older men and women. Methods: The Helsinki Aging Study recruited a random sample of people aged 75, 80, and 85 in 1989, and random samples aged 75, 80, 85, 90, and 95 in 1999, 2009, and 2019 (four study waves). Altogether, 6263 community-dwelling people answered the questions concerning symptoms in the questionnaire surveys. The symptoms inquired in all study waves were dizziness, back pain, joint pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, and loss of appetite. Symptom burden was calculated according to the number of symptoms and their frequency (score range: 0–6). PWB and the Charlson comorbidity index were calculated. Results: Symptom burden decreased in both men and women aged 75 and 80 from 1989 to 2019. Changes in cohorts aged 85 + were nonsignificant. There was a significant difference in symptom burden between men and women in all ages with men having fewer symptoms. PWB decreased with increasing symptom burden. Men had greater PWB than women up to severe levels of symptom burden. Conclusions: Symptom burden decreased from 1989 to 2019 in cohorts aged 75–80, whereas changes remained nonsignificant in cohorts aged 85 +. Objectives: Inadequate financial and health literacy presents a formidable public health and economic challenge in old age. This study investigated declining financial and health literacy in relation to decision making performance, scam susceptibility and psychological wellbeing.Design: Longitudinal study.Setting: A community-based cohort in Northeastern Illinois, USA.Participants: One thousand fourty-six older adults who were free of dementia at baseline and underwent annual clinical and literacy assessments.Measurements: Financial and health literacy, decision making, scam susceptibility, and psychological wellbeing were assessed using validated instruments. Linear mixed effects models estimated person-specific rates of change in financial and health literacy, and multivariable regression analyses examined the associations of declining literacy with subsequent levels of decision making, scam susceptibility, and psychological wellbeing.Results: The mean age was 81 years and 76% were female. Over up to 10 years of annual follow-ups, the average financial and health literacy score dropped 1 percentage point a year. Substantial variability in decline was observed between participants. Faster decline in financial and health literacy was associated with poorer decision making, higher scam susceptibility, and lower psychological wellbeing. Notably, these associations were above and beyond the baseline literacy level and persisted even after controlling for cognition.Conclusions: Most community-dwelling older adults experience decline in financial and health literacy over time, but decline is not inevitable. Declining literacy is related to poorer decision making, greater scam susceptibility and lower wellbeing. Objective: To assess the psychological impacts and risk for elder abuse associated with historical intimate partner violence (IPV) in older women.Design: Prospective cohort study SETTING: All Australian states and territories.Participants: A total of 12,259 women aged 70-75 years at baseline participating in the Australian Longitudinal Study of Women's Health.Measurements: Women were asked at baseline whether they had ever been in a violent relationship with a partner, and completed a comprehensive survey about their physical and psychological health every 3 years (15 years follow-up) including the Short Form-36 Mental Health subscale (SF-MH) and Vulnerability to Abuse Screening Scale (VASS). Linear mixed effects modelling with maximum likelihood estimation assessed the impact of IPV over time on the SF-MH and VASS. Risk for incident depression and experiencing physical or sexual violence over follow-up was examined using logistic regression models.Results: The 782 (6.4%) women who reported historical IPV recorded significantly poorer psychological wellbeing at all timepoints compared to those who did not report historical IPV, and were at higher risk for incident depression over follow up (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.36, 95% confidence interval [CI]:1.11-1.67). There was no significant relationship between historical IPV and self-reported exposure to physical or sexual violence in late life (aOR = 0.87, 95%CI: 0.53-1.43), but women who reported historical IPV recorded higher rates of vulnerability to abuse on the VASS.Discussion: Women who have experienced a violent relationship continue to experience negative effects into older age, highlighting the importance of clinical monitoring and ongoing support for survivors as they age. The hospital environment may either positively or negatively affect patient experience. The potential of the hospital environment to stimulate children's psychological wellbeing (PWB) is yet to be fully understood. This paper aims to describe how interventions in the hospital may improve the PWB of pediatric patients (including self-acceptance, positive relations, autonomy, environmental mastery, life purpose, and personal growth). We conducted interviews with healthcare experts to identify possible interventions that would respond to children's needs, and architecture and mental health experts assessed the proposals’ potential to improve children’s PWB. Results indicate that it is possible for the hospital environment to stimulate all components of children’s PWB, especially environmental mastery, personal growth, and self-acceptance. Climate anxiety refers to the negative emotional reactions that a person can experience in response to climate change irrespective of prior direct experience with it. Research suggests this emotional reaction ranges from successful coping and adaptation to clinical-level psychological impairment. The Climate Change Anxiety Scale (CCAS) was designed to measure a person's level of climate anxiety impairment. However, inconsistent results when testing the relationship between CCAS scores and psychological wellbeing measures have raised questions about the scale's validity and usefulness for assessing climate change's mental health impacts. Our goal was to quantitatively summarise the direction and strength of the correlations between climate anxiety (as indexed by the CCAS) and measures of psychological wellbeing. We identified 25 studies and 60 effect sizes for inclusion, and meta-analytic results indicated a moderate negative correlation between overall CCAS scores and psychological wellbeing (r = −0.296, 95% CI [-0.360; −0.230], p <.001). The meta-analytic estimates were consistent across CCAS subscales and diagnosis-specific measures of wellbeing. Multilevel meta-regressions used to estimate the influence of potential moderators indicated that the correlations were stronger when the sample's mean level of environmental identity was higher, and when a measure indicative of mental unwellness was used. The rapid inventions of social media in current era have changed the wellbeing of human lives. The current study aimed to explore the correlation between social media usage and undergraduate students' psychological wellbeing in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Two research instruments were used in this study Social Media Addiction Scale-Student Form (SMAS-SF) and Flourishing Scale (FS). The first scale measures the usage capacity of social media and the second measures the psychological wellbeing of undergraduate students. The correlation between the scores obtained from the scales was determined by applying Pearson correlation formula. The positive correlation between social media usage and psychological wellbeing of undergraduate students has been found in this study. The other finding related to most preferred social media concluded that WhatsApp was most preferable social media among undergraduate students. 61% undergraduate students used the WhatsApp to engage their daily life in using social media. Expressive arts therapy (EAT) can potentially improve cognition and mental health in patients with dementia. However, limited studies have been conducted for older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The aim of this study was to examine the effects of EAT in older adults with MCI. A total of 48 participants with MCI were assigned to the EAT intervention (n = 24) or waiting list control (n = 24) group. The former received 60–90 min of EAT twice a week for 6 weeks. The findings showed that the EAT program had a high retention and attendance rate and a high level of general satisfaction. Moreover, the intervention group showed significant improvements in general cognitive function, language function, anxiety, depression, and the psychological and social relationship domains of quality of life. The psychological wellbeing o f professional athletes is an issue that is gaining increasing recognition. However, until recently there has been little empirical research conducted in this domain. To address this gap in the literature, fourteen professional male athletes from Australian Rules football, rugby league, rugby union and soccer participated in semi-structured interviews designed to identify the factors within their ivorkplace that they believed impacted on their psychological wellbeing. The participants also provided their perceptions of how athletes typically manage and respond to these factors. Results revealed that high levels of performance pressure, public and media scrutiny, career insecurity and sustaining physical injuries were perceived to most impact on psychological wellbeing. Participants also reported using both healthy (e.g. effective communication skills, help seeking behaviour) and unhealthy (e.g. avoidance, denial, alcohol abuse) tendencies in response to the identified workplace adversity factors. Implications o f the study and directions for future research are discussed, including the development o f intervention programs designed specifically for professional athletes. Stereotypes are ideas that one holds regarding individuals because of their membership to a specific group. The current research was undertaken to study stereotype perception and stereotype threat on the psychological wellbeing of children of prisoners. Eight children of prisoners in the age range of 17 to 25 (females = 4), whose fathers were in prison for more than a year, participated in the study. Semi-structured interview method was used to collect data from the participants and data were analyzed using thematic network analysis method. Results revealed that children of prisoners strongly perceive stereotypes against them and they conform to stereotypes. Further to this, it was found that stereotype threat had positive effects in terms of increased goal-directed behavior and negative effects in terms ofreduced happiness and increased feelings of anger and sadness. Abstract Background and purpose A massage therapy program was implemented to address the psychological well-being of family caregivers to patients in a rehabilitation hospital. The impact of massage "dosage" on caregiver stress and psychological well-being was examined in this study. Participants' perspectives on the program were also explored. Materials and methods Thirty-eight family caregivers were randomized to receive either one massage per week or three massages per week for two weeks. Caregivers reported psychological symptoms and stress pre- and post-program. Program acceptability was assessed via responses on an exit survey. Results Overall, 79% of massages were received (89% among program completers). Post-program symptom scores were lower than baseline scores for both groups (F (1, 31) = 8.74 - 24.50, P < 0.01). Exit surveys indicated high program acceptability and perceived benefits. Conclusion Findings suggest that massage services would be welcomed, utilized, and beneficial for improving the psychological well-being of family caregivers in a rehabilitation hospital. Nonpharmacological treatment of insomnia in older persons has been associated with reduced insomnia symptoms and increased psychological wellbeing. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined whether nonpharmacological interventions can promote wellbeing indicators in older persons who experience insomnia symptoms and investigated the components of these interventions. Twenty studies met inclusion criteria. Psychological wellbeing outcomes included symptoms of depression, anxiety, mental health-related quality of life, and fatigue. Interventions significantly reduced depression and fatigue symptoms in most of the studies that included these outcomes. Findings of our qualitative analysis suggest that mindfulness-based interventions in particular can potentially reduce depression symptoms in older persons with insomnia symptoms. Meta-analyses of studies that included psychological wellbeing outcomes showed small-medium weighted mean effects indicating reductions in symptoms of depression, anxiety, and fatigue. The results suggest that nonpharmacological interventions for older persons with insomnia symptoms can potentially reduce depression and fatigue symptoms and highlight interventions that may be particularly valuable for this purpose. Workplace bullying is a noteworthy problem that prevails in different organizations and has devastating impacts on employees as well as on organizations. The present research is an attempt to find out the impact of workplace bullying on psychological wellbeing of employees by taking the role of personality traits as moderators. To achieve this objective, Negative Acts Questionnaire, Ryff's Scale of Psychological Wellbeing, and NEO-FFI were used. A sample of (N = 538) employees were selected from four different professions (Doctors, University Teachers, Bank Employees, and Telecommunication Employees). It was revealed from the study that workplace bullying has negative impact on psychological wellbeing of employees, furthermore it is also revealed from results that the agreeableness and conscientiousness significantly negatively predicted the workplace bullying and the remaining personality factors (neuroticism, openness to experience and extraversion) non-significantly predictedthe workplace bullying. The results also depicted that the Extraversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness moderated the relationship between workplace bullying and psychological wellbeing by strengthening this relationship. The present study was conducted with the objective of examining the nature of the relationship between life satisfaction and mental health of research scholar in India. Participants were 287 research scholars from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) & Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Out of total 287 participants, 143 participants were taken from BHU, 94 participants were taken from IIPS and 50 participants were taken from TISS. The scale for measuring Multidimensional Students' life satisfaction, developed by Huebner (2001) was used. Among the mental health status dimensions, general well-being was assessed on the dimensions of psychological wellbeing (PWB) and psychological distress (PD) (Heubeck & Neill, 2000). Findings of the study clearly highlight the role of life satisfaction in determining mental health of research scholars. Psychological wellbeing of research scholar was significantly, positively correlated with family, friends, university, living environment & self and negatively correlated with psychological distress. Results also showed that psychological distress of research scholar was significantly, negatively correlated with family & self. Life satisfaction dimensions, living environment, self, friends and family significantly, positively predicted variance in psychological well being of Indian research scholar. Natural environments have positive effects in reducing rumination, improving affect and restoring depleted cognitive abilities, however individual differences in susceptibility to these positive effects are still understudied. Higher Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) is a risk factor for mental ill-health and ruminative thoughts, however, those high in SPS are particularly connected with nature, therefore potentially more susceptible to nature-based interventions. In this pre-post study, we evaluated the impact of virtual nature exposure on affect, rumination, and executive functions in individuals with varying levels of SPS. 147 participants (53.1% female; M age = 48.07) were characterised SPS, depression and anxiety, then they completed measures of affect, state rumination and performed the Stroop task before and after watching a nature or urban video. The study was conducted online. Changes in positive affect were predicted by the interaction between SPS and the type of environment viewed. A decrease in negative affect post exposure to the nature video, and rumination post both interventions were also found overall, but not on Stroop performance. A thematic analysis of qualitative follow up questions contributed to elucidate these results. Individuals who experience social and emotional difficulties struggle to maintain successful social relationships and incur an increased risk of developing mood disorders. These, in turn, have a significant impact on psychological and physical wellbeing. A small number of medical studies suggest that patients with adult-onset craniopharyngioma (AoC) report poorer quality of life, however, no in-depth psychological research has been carried out. The present study aimed to capture a rich understanding of whether patients with AoC experience a psychological impact from their diagnosis and whether psychological factors may contribute to a poorer quality of life. Both patients with AoC and clinicians with experience of working with patients with AoC were invited to take part in a semi-structured interview. Participants were recruited from three geographically disperse National Health Service (NHS) units across the United Kingdom (UK). Eight patients and 10 clinicians took part in the study. Interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim and analysed using inductive thematic analysis. Two key themes, with multiple subthemes, were identified: 1) Patients experience psychological impacts of AoC; and 2) Patients also experience common physical symptoms. Patients and clinicians recognised significant psychological impact as a result of AoC, and these impacts contributed to overall poorer quality of life. This paper seeks to examine the physical and psychological wellbeing of caregivers of individuals suffering from substance addiction. To obtain knowledge of the needs of caregivers of substance addicted individuals and investigating their wellbeing, this paper presents a systematic literature review. Both electronic and manual searches were done on EBSCO host, eBooks collection, Academic search complete, CINAHL Plus, Health source (academic, nursing and consumer edition), Medline, Masterfile, PsycARTICLES and Google Scholar. Books relevant to the topic searched were also used. The results gave an overview of needs and wellbeing issues concerning the caregivers of individuals suffering from substance addiction and what can be implemented to address their wellbeing such as confidence, maintenance of relationships, engaging with the world, being productive and coping with stress. This review indicated that future research should aim to ensure the psychological and physical wellbeing of caregivers of individuals addicted to substances as these individuals' experiences and perspectives are almost always neglected. The purpose of the study was to investigate the patterns of relationships between mental health status and job satisfaction among male and female civil police personnel. Police personnel (N=350, male=248, female=102) were surveyed in seven district (Varanasi, Mirzapur, Allahabad Lucknow, Sitapur, Barabanki and Bhadohi) in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Republic of India. Participants' responses were obtained on questionnaires which measured psychological well-being and psychological distress (Heubeck & Neill, 2000) and job satisfaction (Dantz ker, 1993). Data were statistically analyzed for examining the hypothesized relationships between the variables among the male and female civil police personnel. Results indicated that age, experience, salary, psychological wellbeing and job satisfaction were significantly different among the male and female civil police personnel. Psychological well-being of male participants was significantly, positively correlated and predicted with job satisfaction and psychological distress was significantly, negatively correlated and predicted with job satisfaction of male police personnel only. Psychological wellbeing of female participants was significantly, positively correlated with job satisfaction. Results also showed that age and salary significantly, positively correlated with job satisfaction of male participants and salary of participants significantly, positively predicted job satisfaction. Implication of the finding is that police department should concentrate on removing discrepancies in the job conditions of the male and female police personnel. The police department should also pay attention to reduce, eliminate or modify stress among male police personnel using psychological techniques based on the western model and Indian psychological model, yoga, relaxation and meditational techniques. The outdoor space at childcare centres can be many preschoolers' primary experience of outdoor play. Trends prioritizing risk reduction have diminished access to nature and risky play. We examined the effects of an intervention to increase opportunities for nature and risky play in the outdoor play environments of two childcare centres using a repeated measures mixed methods design. We used the Seven Cs play space design criteria, adding natural materials to enhance affordances for play. We measured changes in play, social behaviour, psychological wellbeing, and physical activity in 45 children aged 2 to 5. Findings indicated significant decreases in depressed affect, antisocial behaviour and moderate to vigorous physical activity, and increases in play with natural materials, independent play, and prosocial behaviours. Early Childhood Educators observed improved socialization, problem-solving, focus, self-regulation, creativity and self-confidence, and reduced stress, boredom and injury. This review explores how the experience of living with environmental contamination is related to residents' mental health and psychological wellbeing. MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Scopus and Web of Science were searched for peer-reviewed literature reporting relevant original empirical data published before 1 April 2021. The search identified 40 papers for full review. Of these, 25 articles examined how living with environmental contamination influenced pre-clinical mental health symptoms, including depression, anxiety and schizophrenia, 17 reported on emotions, such as worry and concern, and seven considered associations with clinical mental health disorders, such as major depressive disorder. Most articles (n = 38) identified some statistically significant or anecdotal evidence of an association between mental health and the experience of living with environmental contamination. Through the critical interpretive synthesis of our review, the factors associated with mental health and wellbeing outcomes in the included papers were thematically organised into five categories: intrinsic, extrinsic (sociodemographic and personal), social, environmental, and regulatory. The conceptual framework contributes to our understanding of how environmental contamination impacts mental health and wellbeing, which may assist in preventing poor mental health outcomes in contaminated neighbourhoods. • Reviewed how the experience of living with environmental contamination relates to residents' mental health. • Screened 1970 articles, with 40 meeting the study inclusion criteria. • Most articles identified evidence of mental health being adversely affected by the experience of living contamination. • Constructed a socioecological framework of the factors associated with mental health outcomes.
