Kirsten Rat Sarcoma (KRAS) and protein tumor suppressor (p53) are two biomarkers used to establish the correct diagnostic of cancer and also the personalized treatment. This paper proposed 2,6-bis((E)-2-(furan-2-yl)vinyl)-4-(4,6,8-trimethylazulen-1-yl)pyridine as nanostructured material for the design of stochastic sensors for fast recognition of p53 and KRAS in whole blood samples. The proposed stochastic sensors recognized p53 and KRAS in whole blood samples, with high sensitivities, at very low concentrations (fg/mL). The recovery tests performed proved that p53 and KRAS were determined in whole blood samples with average recoveries higher than 98.00% and RSD (%) values less than 0.20%, when they are in very small amounts. No sample treatment was required for whole blood samples collected from the patients.

Two stochastic sensors based on graphene powder modified with platinum and titanium dioxide (TiO2Pt/rGO) and 2,6-bis((E)-2-(furan-2-yl)vinyl)-4-(4,6,8-trimethylazulen-1-yl)pyridine (S1) and 2,6-bis((E)-2-(thiophen-3-yl)vinyl)-4-(4,6,8-trimethylazulen-1-yl)pyridine (S2) were proposed for the assay of three biomarkers monitorized in colon cancer: P53, KRAS and CEA. The limits of determinations were low, and the sensitivity very high. Whole blood samples from confirmed colon cancer patients were used for the validation of the method.

The paper studies the possibility of unifying the two branches of the irreversible engineering thermodynamics, namely finite physical dimensions thermodynamics (FPDT) and finite speed thermodynamics (FST), aiming to take into account their benefits and successes and to eliminate as much as possible their disadvantages. Actually, the two branches have the same goal, that of optimizing the performance of thermal machines and they were developed almost in parallel. Analysis of thermal machines cycles using the FPDT is based on the first and second law of thermodynamics, in the presence of the external irreversibility generated by the heat transfer at finite temperature difference at the thermal reservoirs and internal irreversibility, using the internal source of entropy considered as parameter or function to be specified. The FST is based on the mathematical expression of the first law for process with finite speed that involves three causes of internal irreversibility, namely the finite speed of the piston, internal friction and throttling. The direct method is used in the analysis of thermal machines cycles to provide analytical expression of the machine performance (efficiency and power) as a function of the speed of the process. The significant progress of these two branches of irreversible engineering thermodynamics makes their unification a desirable outcome. We hope that the new model yielded from this study will provide an even more important tool for engineers that will help their attempt to a better design and optimization of thermal machines.

“Dynamic assessment” is a term which has come to describe a particular style of testing, but more importantly has come to be associated with an alternative way of thinking about assessment. Most succinctly, dynamic assessment involves embedding interaction within the assessment and observing and recording the learner's response and ability to profit from this interaction. There are numerous models of dynamic assessment that vary in terms of the degree of structure and the timing of the intervention, as well as the content of the intervention procedure. The greatest distinction between dynamic assessment and conventional testing, or what is frequently referred to in the literature as static assessment, can be seen in the shift from a product to a process orientation regarding testing. This distinction has numerous implications not only with regard to the actual assessment techniques but also with respect to the types of questions asked and solutions formulated with regard to low cognitive functioning and/or poor academic performance.Dynamic assessment is an interactive process between assessor and assessee. It differs from conventional psychometric assessments in that no ‘normative score’ such as an Intelligence Quotient is computed. It differs also in that mediation is an essential part of the process. Tasks are given to the assessee, with the focus primarily on how the tasks are tackled. This makes it possible to pin- point necessary areas of cognitive development. At different stages for different tasks in the overall process, mediation is given in the cognitive functions and strategies necessary to master the tasks. Dynamic assessment embeds interaction within the framework of a test-intervene-retest approach to psycho educational assessment.

Drinkers call them “alibis”. It is true that during the life, people can encounter lots of difficulties that approach them and yet not all seek refuge in alcohol. This study aims to identify the effects that excessive drinking has on individuals’ physical, social, intra- and interpersonal and existence/absence of motivation to change this behavior.

The Direct Method from Finite Speed Thermodynamics is used in order to Determine in a complete analytical format of the COP and consumed Power of a Reversed Cvasi-Carnot Cycle (Refrigeration Machine with vapor) taking into account internal irreversibility generate by: Finite Speed, Friction, Throttling and Internal Heat Loses.

Unlike logical-mathematical intelligence, which suffers insignificant modifications once the end of adolescence, emotional intelligence can be developed over time, free of age limit, with the condition that it is provided the necessary attention and effort to it.
