Objective The current study aimed to evaluate the satisfaction level of parents from telemedicine use in the long-term follow-up of children operated for craniosynostosis during the COVID-19 pandemic.Design A cross-sectional 9-question survey analysis using Qualtrics survey software.Setting An institutional study carried out at a national, tertiary level academic center in the Slovak Republic.Patients All patients operated for non-syndromic and syndromic craniosynostosis in our department, who participated in the virtual postoperative follow-up consultations from March 23, 2020, through July 2, 2021, were included in our series. They were enrolled 498 patients, with the parents of 256 children being responding to the survey.Interventions The survey remained open until July 16, 2021, two weeks after the last virtual consultations. It was delivered to the parents by e-mail to generate closed 5-point Likert scale responses.Results Overall, 72.3% of parents were satisfied with the telemedicine program, and 67.2% found it convenient. Collectively, 89.1% reported that the received instructions were helpful to them. However, only 18.7% of them answered that they would prefer telemedicine consultations in the future.Conclusion The results of this study showed a high satisfaction from the parents during the virtual follow-up of children operated for craniosynostosis. However, despite their positive experience with telemedicine, the vast majority of parents stated that they would prefer in-person visits in the future.

Introduction:This paper presents the results of research about the antioxidant properties of extracts from 5 moss species, namely Brachythecium rutabulum, Callicladium haldanianum, Hypnum cupressiforme, Orthodicranum montanumand Polytrichastrum formosum. The macerates of each above mentioned species in water and ethanol (50% and 96%) solutions were analysed.

The paper provides information about 7 species of liverworts and 51 species and 1 variety of mosses collected within the ‘Retno’ Nature Reserve. The diversity of the flora of the reserve is low without any particular bryological values. The most interesting species are Bryum rubensand Orthodicranum tauricum. There are 9 species partially protected in Poland and 1 endangered, however, most of them are common bryophytes throughout the country.

Twenty land mosses were extracted by double maceration and ultrasonic extraction techniques using the mixture of 80% ethanol and water. The obtained extracts were analyzed using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) with silica gel (the mobile phase was consisted of ethyl acetate—formic acid—acetic acid—water, 14.0:1.5:1.5:2.0, v/v) and RP-18 (the composition of eluent methanol—water—formic acid, 7.0:2.5:0.5, v/v) chromatographic plates. After developing and drying, the plates were sprayed using the Naturstoff reagent, and after drying, the chromatograms were photographed and the obtained images were processed using the ImageJ program. Principal component analysis was performed to confirm the chemical similarity between the studied moss extracts. The cytotoxic activity of the ethanolic extracts of Bryophytaspecies was studied using the cell lines CCRF/CEM and CEM. For most of the moss samples, the cytotoxic activity was confirmed.

The paper provides information about new localities of 118 species, including 2 hornworts, 22 liverworts and 94 mosses collected at the Ciężkowickie Foothills. The most interesting are bryophytes protected and threatened in Poland, for example Fossombronia wondraczekii, Nowellia curvifolia, Sphagnum compactum, Trichocolea tomentellaand Weissia squarrosa.

The paper presents information about habitat conditions of occurrence of the Ptychoverpa bohemica(Krombh.) Boud. fungus in man-made habitats in Silesian Upland in southern Poland. Soil samples were collected from 5 sites in order to measure the contents of organic carbon, nitrogen, carbon/nitrogen ratio and percentage of organic matter, as well as the values of pH and electric conductivity. Lists of plants associated with Ptychoverpa bohemicawere also prepared. Results of the investigation show that pH values of analysed soils are neutral to slightly acidic, they show negligible salinity, and the content of organic carbon, nitrogen and organic matter are higher in their upper levels. The floristic composition of patches with Ptychoverpa bohemicausually consists of species which are common in urban areas, such as apophytes and anthropophytes, for example: Betula pendula, Brachythecium rutabulum, Epipactis helleborine, Pinus sylvestris, Populus tremula, Quercus robur, Salix capreaand Sorbus aucuparia.

AbstractThe paper presents new records for 19 vascular plant species from 14 Eurasian countries. Two taxa (Siphonostegia chinensisand Utricularia macrorhiza) are reported from Russia, two (Achnatherum botschantzeviiand Stipa zalesskii) from Kyrgyzstan, one (Allium petraeum) from Uzbekistan, three (Crambe orientalis, Eleocharis mamillataand Geranium pratensesubsp. sergievskajae) from Kazakhstan, two (Atriplex crassifoliaand Petrosimonia brachyphylla) from China, one (Crambe orientalis) from Tajikistan, one (Stipa krylovii) from India, one (Agrostis lazica) from Iraq, two (Orobanche coerulescensand Orobanche zajaciorum) from Armenia, one (Phelipanche lavandulacea) from Montenegro, one (Panicum riparium) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and Sweden, one (Sporobolus vaginiflorus) from Bosnia and Herzegovina and two (Ranunculus penicillatussubsp. pseudofluitansand Scutellaria minor) from Poland. Three of the taxa presented (Crambe orientalis, Panicum ripariumand Sporobolus vaginiflorus) are regarded as alien to the studied areas, whereas the remaining 16 are native elements to the flora of the countries. For each species, synonyms, general distribution, habitat preferences, taxonomy with remarks on recognition and differentiation of the species from the most similar taxa occurring in a given country, as well as a list of recorded localities (often far from the previously known areas) are presented.

Katowice is the largest city within the Upper Silesian Industrial District (S Poland). The investtigation conducted in this town earlier (1998-2000) showed limited number of epiphytic species. Recent study showed significant increase in number of localities of obligate epiphytes (mainly from the genera Orthotrichumand Ulota). They colonize mainly the edges of strongly urbanized areas bordering forest complexes and larger parks. This paper is an attempt to answer the question as currently in Katowice shape the main factors determining the occurrence of epiphytes. Crucial factors which govern epiphytes colonization processes in urban areas have been confirmed: bark chemistry (taking into account natural attributes and the influence of pollution) and air humidity. The preference of epiphytes towards inhabited phorophytes was confirmed as well. The most commonly and abundantly inhabited species were poplar and willow trees (which have a higher pH of bark).

The paper presents distributional data for 24 liverwort and 94 moss species collected at the Wiśnickie Foothills, including 26 protected and 5 threatened bryophytes

Philonotis calcarea (Bruch & Schimp.) Schimp. in Poland is a montane species, very rarely occurring in lowland, strictly protected by law. In the Opole Province till this time it has been known from four localities, reported from the 19th and first half of the 20th century. The paper presents description of the new locality and list of stations of P. calcarea in the Opole Province. Current distribution of this species is presented on the map.

The paper presents the preliminary results of using the herbarium specimens of selected mosses (Brachythecium rutabulum (Hedw.) Schimp., B. salebrosum (F.Weber & D.Mohr) Schimp. and Hypnum cupressiforme Hedw, for assessment of changes in the heavy metals pollution in Katowice town. For the initial studies lead and cadmium have been chosen, which are among the most toxic heavy metals. Specimens originate from two periods: the nineties of 20thcentury and from 2012. To verify the correctness of assumption the control samples were selected from the collection of mosses from the Białowieża Primeval Forest considered as a “clean” part of Poland, in the nineties of 20thcentury, stored in the same conditions. The results obtained in these investigations confirm the possibility of application of herbarium specimens of mosses in the biological assessment of changes in lead and cadmium contamination.

The paper presents the contribution to the bryoflora of the Vistula Spit, a bryologically poorly known region located in northern Poland. As a result, localities of 59 species and 2 varieties of bryophytes were found, including regionally rare, interesting and protected in Poland bryophytes, such as Aulacomnium androgynum (Hedw.) Schwägr., Orthodontium lineare Schwägr., Orthodicranum tauricum (Sapjegin) Smirnova, Rhodobryum roseum (Hedw.) Limpr. and Ulota crispa (Hedw.) Brid.

Preliminary studies on the bryoflora of the Narwiański National Park located in northeastern Poland were carried out in July 2011. As a result, localities of 82 species (6 liverworts and 76 mosses) were discovered. The most interesting are Aulacomnium androgynum (Hedw.) Schwägr., Hedwigia ciliata (Hedw.) P.Beauv., Leptodictyum humile (P.Beauv.) Ochyra, Plagiothecium latebricola (Wils.) Schimp., Syntrichia papillosa (Jur.) Wilson and S. virescens (De Not.) Ochyra.

This paper presents current distribution of the moss Diphyscium foliosum (Hedw.) D.Mohr in the Polish part of the Carpathians. Till this time, the species has been known from the 139 localities distributed through the whole territory, but with their distinct concentration in the Western Beskidy Mountains. The altitudinal limits, habitat preferences and its threats are briefly provided. Eighteen localities, mainly from Beskid Śląski and Beskid Sądecki ranges are reported for the first time.

In 2004-2005 and 2010-2011 bryological investigations were carried out in the ‘Torfowisko Bory’ ecological area located in Sosnowiec in Silesian Upland. In total, 11 species and 1 variety of liverworts and 62 species and 1 variety of mosses were discovered in the study area. The most interesting bryophytes include Campylopus introflexus (Hedw.) Brid., Limprichtia cossonii(Schimp.) L. E. Anderson, H. A. Crum & W. R. Buck, Philonotis tomentella Molendo, Pseudocalliergon lycopodioides (Brid.) Hedenäs, Riccardia chamedryfolia (With.) Grolle and Riccardia incurvata Lindb.

Distributional data for 22 rare bryophytes from Silesia Province are provided. The most interesting plants include Acaulon muticum(Hedw.) Müll. Hall., Helodium blandowii(F. Weber & D. Mohr) Warnst., Hygroamblystegium tenax(Hedw.) Jenn. and Orthotrichum patensBrid.

The paper presents the description of the new site of the expanding fungus Clathrus archeri (Berk.) Dring. in the Polish part of the Carpathians

The paper presents description of a new, abundant locality of rare in Silesia Province medicinal plant Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (L.) Spreng. Its distribution and threats in this area are briefly discussed.
