Dual gate device with mobility of 20cm2/Vs has been applied to improve power consumption of oxide products, the devices show high on‐state current of more than 45uA, good uniformity of ΔVth 1.03V, PBTS of 2.18V. The optimized pixel design of 14inch WQXGA achieves high aperture ratio of 74% and transmittance of over 9.5%. This 120Hz demo with brightness of 150nit can significantly reduce power consumption by 65%, from 2.1W to 1.27W.

Androgenic alopecia (AGA) is a highly prevalent form of non-scarring alopecia but lacks effective treatments. Stem cell exosomes have similar repair effects to stem cells, suffer from the drawbacks of high cost and low yield yet. Cell-derived nanovesicles acquired through mechanical extrusion exhibit favorable biomimetic properties similar to exosomes, enabling them to efficiently encapsulate substantial quantities of therapeutic proteins. In this study, we observed that JAM-A, an adhesion protein, resulted in a significantly increased the adhesion and resilience of dermal papilla cells to form snap structures against damage caused by dihydrotestosterone and macrophages, thereby facilitating the process of hair regrowth in cases of AGA. Consequently, adipose-derived stem cells were modified to overexpress JAM-A to produce engineered JAM-A overexpressing nanovesicles (JAM-AOE@NV). The incorporation of JAM-AOE@NV into a thermosensitive hydrogel matrix (JAM-AOE@NV Gel) to effectively addresses the limitations associated with the short half-life of JAM-AOE@NV, and resulted in the achievement of a sustained-release profile for JAM-AOE@NV. The physicochemical characteristics of the JAM-AOE@NV Gel were analyzed and assessed for its efficacy in promoting hair regrowth in vivo and vitro. The JAM-AOE@NV Gel, thus, presents a novel therapeutic approach and theoretical framework for promoting the treatment of low cell adhesion diseases similar to AGA.

Particle erosion is a major failure mechanism in thermal barrier coatings. In this work, a discrete element model is developed to simulate the crack propagation due to particle erosion. The effects of the interface bond layer roughness and pre-crack are focused. The results show that with the increasing roughness of the bonding layer, the extension length of the delamination cracks is reduced. The delamination cracks are suppressed when the roughness increases. The initial vertical TC defects can effectively inhibit the nucleation and extension of the new cracks. This study provides a theoretical foundation for understanding the crack failure mechanism in thermal barrier coatings.

An inexpensive and efficient aminoguanidine-catalyzed reductive cyclization of o-phenylenediamines with CO2in the presence of triethoxysilane is described. Various functionalized benzimidazoles, benzoxazole, and benzothiazole were synthesized in high yields. Mechanistic studies indicate that formic acid as a cocatalyst promotes the cyclization reaction.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most fatal malignancies worldwide. Recently, our group identified purine-rich element binding protein alpha (PURα), a single-stranded DNA/RNA-binding protein, to be significantly associated with the progression of ESCC. Additional immunofluorescence staining demonstrated that PURα forms cytoplasmic stress granules to suppress mRNA translation initiation. The expression level of cytoplasmic PURα in ESCC tumor tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent epithelia and correlated with a worse patient survival rate by immunohistochemistry. Functionally, PURα strongly preferred to bind to UG-/U-rich motifs and mRNA 3´UTR by CLIP-seq analysis. Moreover, PURα knockout significantly increased the protein level of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP3). In addition, it was further demonstrated that PURα-interacting proteins are remarkably associated with translation initiation factors and ribosome-related proteins and that PURα regulates protein expression by interacting with translation initiation factors, such as PABPC1, eIF3B and eIF3F, in an RNA-independent manner, while the interaction with ribosome-related proteins is significantly dependent on RNA. Specifically, PURα was shown to interact with the mRNA 3´UTR of IGFBP3 and inhibit its expression by suppressing mRNA translation initiation. Together, this study identifies cytoplasmic PURα as a modulator of IGFBP3, which could be a promising therapeutic target for ESCC treatment.

An unprecedented method for the construction of thiazole-2-thiones via an oxidative cascade cyclization strategy is described. The novel protocol involves the simultaneous formation of two C—S bonds and a C═S bond on the structure of enaminones in a single operation through a cascade of C(sp2)—H/C(sp3)—H bond sulfurations and C(sp3)–H bond thiocarbonylation. This transformation allows for the efficient synthesis of thiazole-2-thiones with broad tolerance in moderate to excellent yields from simple enaminones with elemental sulfur.

The projective dictionary pair learning (DPL) model jointly seeks a synthesis dictionary and an analysis dictionary by extracting the block-diagonal coefficients with an incoherence-constrained analysis dictionary. However, DPL fails to discover the underlying subspaces and salient features at the same time, and it cannot encode the neighborhood information of the embedded coding coefficients, especially adaptively. In addition, although the data can be well reconstructed via the minimization of the reconstruction error, useful distinguishing salient feature information may be lost and incorporated into the noise term. In this article, we propose a novel self-expressive adaptive locality-preserving framework: twin-incoherent self-expressive latent DPL (SLatDPL). To capture the salient features from the samples, SLatDPL minimizes a latent reconstruction error by integrating the coefficient learning and salient feature extraction into a unified model, which can also be used to simultaneously discover the underlying subspaces and salient features. To make the coefficients block diagonal and ensure that the salient features are discriminative, our SLatDPL regularizes them by imposing a twin-incoherence constraint. Moreover, SLatDPL utilizes a self-expressive adaptive weighting strategy that uses normalized block-diagonal coefficients to preserve the locality of the codes and salient features. SLatDPL can use the class-specific reconstruction residual to handle new data directly. Extensive simulations on several public databases demonstrate the satisfactory performance of our SLatDPL compared with related methods.

In this article, we propose a structured robust adaptive dictionary pair learning (RA-DPL) framework for the discriminative sparse representation (SR) learning. To achieve powerful representation ability of the available samples, the setting of RA-DPL seamlessly integrates the robust projective DPL, locality-adaptive SRs, and discriminative coding coefficients learning into a unified learning framework. Specifically, RA-DPL improves existing projective DPL in four perspectives. First, it applies a sparse $l_{2,1}$ -norm-based metric to encode the reconstruction error to deliver the robust projective dictionary pairs, and the $l_{2,1}$ -norm has the potential to minimize the error. Second, it imposes the robust $l_{2,1}$ -norm clearly on the analysis dictionary to ensure the sparse property of the coding coefficients rather than using the costly $l_{0}/l_{1}$ -norm. As such, the robustness of the data representation and the efficiency of the learning process are jointly considered to guarantee the efficacy of our RA-DPL. Third, RA-DPL conceives a structured reconstruction weight learning paradigm to preserve the local structures of the coding coefficients within each class clearly in an adaptive manner, which encourages to produce the locality preserving representations. Fourth, it also considers improving the discriminating ability of coding coefficients and dictionary by incorporating a discriminating function, which can ensure high intraclass compactness and interclass separation in the code space. Extensive experiments show that our RA-DPL can obtain superior performance over other state of the arts.

Multicenter experiments have frequently been performed in clinical biomarker studies. However, center effects should not be ignored. In this study, for the first time,we estimated the multicenter variations of the urinary metabolome in China.

A new cytochalasin, named cytochalasin P1(1), together with four known analogs (2–5) was isolated from marine-derived fungus Xylariasp. SOF11 from the South China Sea. The structure of the new compound was elucidated on the basis of MS and NMR (1H, 13C, HSQC, HMBC, and NOESY) data analyses. Compounds 1–5were tested for their cytotoxicities against four tumor cell lines (SF-268, MCF-7, NCI-H460, and HepG-2). Compounds 1–5showed significant cytotoxicity against two tumor cell lines MCF-7 and SF-268, with the IC50values varying between 0.33 and 4.17 μM.

Syntheses of highly functionalized 4-alkylated 1,4-dihydropyridines (1,4-DHPs) from cyclic ethers and enaminones via iron(II)-mediated oxidative free radical cascade C(sp3)–H bond functionalization/C(sp3)–O bond cleavage/cyclization reaction have been first developed. This novel synthetic strategy offers an alternative method for the construction of 1,4-DHPs by using esters as the C4 sources, as well as expands the application of ethers in heterocycle synthesis.

ABSTRACTN-myc down-regulated gene 1(NDRG1) has been shown to regulate tumor growth and metastasis in various malignant tumors and also to be dysregulated in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Here, we show that NDRG1 overexpression (91.9%, 79/86) in ESCC tumor tissues is associated with poor overall survival of esophageal cancer patients. When placed in stable transfectants of the KYSE 30 ESCC cell line generated by lentiviral transduction with the ectopic overexpression of NDRG1, the expression of transducin-like enhancer of Split 2 (TLE2) was decreased sharply, however β−catenin was increased. Mechanistically, NDRG1 physically associates with TLE2 and β−catenin to affect the Wnt pathway. RNA interference and TLE2 overexpression studies demonstrate that NDRG1 fails to active Wnt pathway compared with isogenic wild-type controls. Strikingly, NDRG1 overexpression induces the epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) through activating the Wnt signaling pathway in ESCC cells, decreased the expression of E-cadherin and enhanced the expression of Snail. Our study elucidates a mechanism of NDRG1-regulated Wnt pathway activation and EMT via affecting TLE2 and  β-catenin expression in esophageal cancer cells. This indicates a pro-oncogenic role for NDRG1 in esophageal cancer cells whereby it modulates tumor progression.

We propose an efficient integration of SWATH with MRM for biomarker discovery and verification when the corresponding ion library is well established. We strictly controlled the false positive rate associated with SWATH MS signals and carefully selected the target peptides coupled with SWATH and MRM. We collected 10 samples of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues paired with tumors and adjacent regions and quantified 1758 unique proteins with FDR 1% at protein level using SWATH, in which 467 proteins were abundance-dependent with ESCC. After carefully evaluating the SWATH MS signals of the up-regulated proteins, we selected 120 proteins for MRM verification. MRM analysis of the pooled and individual esophageal tissues resulted in 116 proteins that exhibited similar abundance response modes to ESCC that were acquired with SWATH. Because the ESCC-related proteins consisted of a high percentile of secreted proteins, we conducted the MRM assay on patient sera that were collected from pre- and postoperation. Of the 116 target proteins, 42 were identified in the ESCC sera, including 11 with lowered abundances postoperation. Coupling SWATH and MRM is thus feasible and efficient for the discovery and verification of cancer-related protein biomarkers.

Stress has been shown to be a major environmental contributor to cardiovascular diseases through its effects on blood pressure variability and cardiac function. The cellular stress response is characterized by the expression of specific heat stress genes (hsps), under the transcriptional control of heat shock transcription factors (HSTFs). The levels of hspmRNA depend on the severity of the stress, with hstf1acting as a stress sensor. The aim of this work was to evaluate the genetic contribution of the variability in hspexpression, and to identify its putative quantitative trait loci (QTL).
