The angular dependence of Kossel lines from Ge single crystals excited by monochromatized synchrotron radiation was measured precisely in the double-crystal arrangement where the first crystal acts as a sample and the second as an analyzer. The Kossel line profiles showed surface sensitivifies when the excitation beam was incident on the crystal surface at a small angle or when its wavelength was slightly shorter than the absorption edge of Ge. The profiles were compared with the calculations based on the dynamical theory using the reciprocity theorem. The relationship with the X-ray standing wave method was clarified.

Intensity variations of outgoing beams from a perfect crystal neutron interferometer were measured using an Fe-3%Si crystal and an Al plate as phase shifters. The inside of the Fe-3%Si crystal was partitioned with 180° magnetic domain walls whose images were clearly observed by neutron topography. From the analysis of intensity oscillations the magnetic forward scattering length of Fe atoms in the crystal was estimated as 5.56×10-13cm, which is very close to the established value, 5.98×10-13cm. This result indicates that the spontaneous magnetization in each domain is almost saturated.

The variation of intensities of O-(transmitted) and H-(diffracted) neutron beams from a perfect crystal neutron interferometer of LLL type was measured, using both non-magnetic and ferromagnetic materials as phase shifters. The visibilities of the intensity oscillation curves of O- and H-beams changed as a function of the rotation angle of the ferromagnetic plate owing to the magnetic double refraction of neutrons. The agreement between experimental results and calculated ones was well.
