Chapter 7 of the book "Monetary Transmission in Hungary" is presented. It estimates the dynamic effect of Hungarian monetary policy on output and consumer prices using the structural value added resellers (SVAR) framework. It mentions that the standard SVAR approach involves identifying monetary policy shocks and quantifying their consequences. It says that it is more feasible to estimate the effect of Hungarian monetary policy on data starting in 1995.

Abstract: How do shocks originated in large economies around the globe have transmitted to the growth rates of Latin American countries? To answer this question, we propose a highly parsimonious structural VAR model, identified through bilateral trade linkages. Since trade weights evolve through time, the effects of shocks are time-varying and we are able to quantify how growth in the region has been affected by tighter trading linkages with fast-growing emerging economies, and how it has responded to a new world trade structure, featuring China as a major player. It is found that about half of the vigourous growth registered in Latin American countries by the end of the 2000s can be attributed to direct and especially indirect multiplier effects induced by the spectacular growth of the Chinese economy. Autoregulation, a specific phenomenon for the cybernetic systems, at the macroeconomic level, is strongly influenced by factors that negatively or positively affect macroeconomic fluctuations. Thus, the sovereign debt crisis, an actual economic phenomenon, has an undeniable impact on macroeconomic approaches. This paper tries to achieve the following specific objectives: to present the theoretical aspects related to sovereign debt crisis and to autoregulation, to present the impact of sovereign debt crisis on the macroeconomic balance, the application of data mining methods to quantify the impact of sovereign debt crisis on macroeconomic balance and the presentation of the conclusions from the study. VAR modeling in inflation forecasting has been widely used, and rather successful, even if there have been several critiques of its exactness or accuracy. This paper is structured into two sections. The first one accomplishes a general presentation of VAR modeling in forecasting inflation, and the second is focused on the results of this econometric approach for inflation in Romania. Even if we considered methodologies containing inflation measured using CPI, CORE1 and CORE2, testing will only be performed for the CPI Inflation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the VAR models developed and by virtue of the impulse response functions and variance analysis, the impact of international oil price fluctuation on China's overall consumer demand especially on the demand of some typical industries was studied in view of macro-economy and meso-industry. The empirical results showed that the impact of international oil price fluctuation on China's overall consumer demand is not significant in the recent decade, while the impact on the demand of oil/gas, ferrous metal smelting and metal working industries is more significant than that on transport equipment manufacturing industry. As to China' s electric power and heat supplies, the interpretability is tiny to the impact of international oil price fluctuation on consumers' demand. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chain transactions represent a successive array of sale-purchase operations. They imply the participation of at least three parties, in the situation where the operated goods are being transported directly from the initial supplier to their final beneficiary, regardless of the number of buyers-re-sellers they go through. So, although the goods are submitted to a single transport operation, fiscally each sale-purchase transaction is evaluated individually just like a separate goods delivery. Triangular operations represent an exceptional case of such chain transactions. Usually, triangular operations suppose there is a series of transactions between three or more legal persons, located and Value Added Tax (VAT) registered in different EU countries. If, in records, the goods pass from one partner to the other, physically they go directly from the supplier to the final beneficiary. The specificity of these operations consists in the fact that the goods are registered only in the accounting records of the buyer re-seller. The actual taking delivery of goods is impossible. In the case where all involved parties are VAT registered, it is possible and recommended to apply simplification methods (payment on delivery) only if the goods' transportation is the supplier's or the buyer-re-seller's charge. Otherwise, for an Ex works contract, the goods being available to the buyer in the departure country, they need to be VAT registered in that country, being later on physically delivered to the final beneficiary. In this paper, we propose a Bayesian VAR model to examine the short term effects of monetary policy shocks on the Italian economy. Firstly, our BVAR model uses the Cholesky decomposition to identify four kinds of macroeconomic shocks, namely, supply, demand, interest rate and monetary shocks. Then, from the theoretical model, we derive and impose a minimum set of robust sign restrictions to identify the transmission mechanism of monetary tightening. The outcomes from the sign identification confirm the micro evidence on inflation persistence. Moreover, our results show a greater persistence of inflation to monetary restriction than Cholesky identification presents. Overall, we find that a monetary innovation brings a decline of 30 basis point of GDP, this result is almost invariant across both prior and identification technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The price fluctuation risk of agricultural products has become one of the main risks faced by agricultural producers. The objective of implementing market risk management is to measure and assess accurately the sizes and degrees of risk involving agricultural products. In this paper, measurement and analysis of fruit market price risk were conducted on fruit species such as Fuji apple, orange, banana, pear, grape, watermelon and strawberry, using the VaR method. Empirical results show that normal distribution is not the optimal distribution model that can be applied in assessing fruit market risk. This is because different fruits have different degrees of market risk (i.e., strawberries and watermelons are fruits with high risk levels; apples, bananas and pears have relatively low risk levels; and grapes and oranges have middle risk levels). According to the results, fruits that belong to the same market risk level have similar features. It is thus necessary to conduct fruit market risk management with risk monitoring by classifying different types of produce as a single unit. This ensures efficiency and accuracy and reduces substantially the cost of market risk management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the Intelligent Mutual Gain model and suggests future directions of research in the area of Supplier and Reseller relationships. The Intelligent Mutual Gain model is a theoretical model for enhancing the relationships between high technology suppliers and their authorized resellers where the supplier has no ownership or franchise rights. This is an important distinction because research has demonstrated that the nature of the relationship between the suppliers and resellers are different when the suppliers hold some ownership or franchise rights to the reseller. The model is based on five prerequisites including top management support, concern for each others success, shared goals and objectives, resource management, and the relationship management team. Partner Relationship Management (PRM) refers to the use of technology to support and enhance supplier reseller relationships. This is one important area where researchers can make good use of the model. After presenting the model and its weaknesses, multiple research problems and future directions for research will discussed at length. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the dynamic panel data of 14 China banks from 1995 to 2004 ,the paper studies the relationship between the Bank concentration and efficiency. The evidence shows that concentration boosts bank efficiency. Meanwhile, the relationship between the loadable funds and bank efficiency is significantly positive, and the relationship between the total capital, the equate capital and bank efficiency is significantly negative, and the level of significance reduces except the bank concentration. Using the panel var, the paper finds all of the level of significance increase, while the coefficiency of regression decreases, and the net profit is positive to efficiency. Except the deposit funds, other variables are the "statistical " reasons for efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses the implication of research on biometric identification systems for value-added resellers (VARs) in the U.S. There are several factors when VARs select and evaluate the appropriate biometric systems for a proposed access control solution. These factors include regulations such as HIPPA for healthcare and SOX for financial records, contractual requirements, risk management cost/benefit analysis and the presence of high-value or sensitive data or goods. In terms of costs, a biometric system varies, however, there is a premium cost over card-based access control systems.
