AbstractWe solve the open problem of Y. Z. Gürtaş of factoring polynomials , where are Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. While the factors of were known, the pattern of their mapping to and was not, and it was intriguing. Each factor is a polynomial of the form with integer coefficients whose roots are . We then consider the analogous problem for Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind by deriving a factorization of . This factorization enables the method used to solve the open problem to be applied to this one, resulting in a more direct proof.

Abstract

An optimized diet for in vitro rearing of honey bee (Apis mellifera Linnaeus 1758) larvae was developed. Based on lyophilized royal jelly, the diet comprises sugars, a fungicide and a vitamin formulation. All these components are available through biochemical supply companies. The protocol of the semiartificial diet is simple. Rate of growth and survival of bee larvae fed on the new diets were evaluated. In vitro development of worker larvae reared on the optimized diet was normal, resulting in a mortality of only about 10%.

Traumatic peroneal nerve injury (PNI) caused by ski or snowboard edges is a severe but scarcely reported accident.

Restrictions of the problem of finding all maximal unifiable or minimal nonunifiable subsets to those of certain sizes are shown to be NP-hard, and consequently inappropriate in general for reducing thrashing by intelligent backtracking in resolution theorem provers and logic program executions. We also show that existing backtrack methods based on the computation of all maximal unifiable subsets of assignments as a means to avoid thrashing are intractable because the solution length of these subsets can increase exponentially with the input length, and we give a corresponding result for minimal nonunifiability. The results apply not only to standard unification, but to a characterized collection of unification algorithms which includes unification without the occurs check. This now justifies the necessity for approximate or heuristic approaches to reduce thrashing in resolution theorem provers and the execution of logic programs.

In drei Einzelfutterungsversuchen mit 156 Jungmastbullen im Lebendmasseabschnitt von 175 bis 300 kg wurde der Einfluss zusatzlicher Niacingaben (0, 0.5 bzw. 1 g/Tier und Tag) bei unterschiedlichem Rohproteingehalt (9.2 - 12.0 % der TS) bzw. dem Einsatz verschiedener N-Quellen (Harnstoff, Rapsextraktionsschrot, Sojaextraktionsschrot, Fischmehl) auf Kennzahlen der Pansenfermentation, Blutparameter, Futteraufnahme, Lebendmassezunahme und Futteraufwand untersucht.Die Niacinzulagen hatten keinen signifikanten Einfluss (P > 0.05) auf die im Pansen und Blut untersuchten Kriterien. Die molare Propionatkonzentration im Pansensaft war nach Niacingabe im Mittel geringfugig erhoht (von 18.9 auf 19.5 mol je 100 mol), die Konzentration an anorganischem P im Blutserum etwas gesenkt (von 2.98 auf 2.82 mmol/1, P > 0.05). Mit Ausnahme einer ansteigenden Harnstoffkonzentration im Blutserum bei hoheren Proteingaben hatte die Proteinzufuhr keinen signifikanten Einfluss auf die in Pansen und Blut untersuchten Metaboliten.Im Mittel aller Gruppen betrug die Trockensubstanzaufnahme der Bullen ohne bzw. mit Niacinsupplementation (0.5 und 1 g/Tier und Tag) 6,35 bzw. 6,46 kg/Tier und Tag. Bei den verschiedenen Proteinsupplementen ubte Niacin einen unterschiedlichen Einfluss auf die Hohe der Futteraufnahme aus.Die tagliche Lebendmassezunahme stieg nach Niacingabe im Mittel aller Gruppen von 1003 (Kontrolle) auf 1040 g je Tier und Tag an (P > 0.05). Die deutlichsten Mehrzunahmen wurden bei den mit Harnstoff ( + 43 g) bzw. mit Raps- oder Sojaextraktionsschrot ( + 60 g/Tier und Tag) supplementierten Rationen ermittelt. Dagegen hatte der Niacinzusatz zu den mit Fischmehl erganzten Rationen keinen Einfluss auf die Hohe der Lebendmassezunahme.Die Mehrzunahmen werden zu etwa 2/3 der ruminalen und intermediaren Wirkung des Niacins und zu 1/3 dem Futtermehrverzehr zugeschrieben. Die hoheren Zunahmen hatten meist eine Senkung des Futteraufwandes je kg Lebendmassezunahme zur Folge.
