Introduction: Spinal meningiomas (SMs) are relatively rare central nervous system tumors that usually trigger neurological symptoms. The prevalence of SMs is increasing with the aging of the global population. This study aimed to perform a systematic epidemiologic and survival prognostic analysis of SMs to evaluate their public health impact and to develop a novel method to estimate the overall survival at 3-year, 5-year, and 10-year in patients with SMs. Methods: Five thousand one hundred fifty eight patients with SMs were recruited from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2000 to 2019. Firstly, descriptive analysis was performed on the epidemiology of SMs. Secondly, these individuals were randomly allocated to the training and validation sets in a ratio of 7:3. Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression analysis were utilized in the training set to identify independent prognostic factors and to construct a nomogram for survival prognosis. Subsequently, the discriminative power, predictive performance, and clinical utility of the nomogram were evaluated by receiver operating characteristic curve and decision curve analysis. Finally, a mortality risk stratification system and a web-based dynamic nomogram were constructed to quantify the risk of mortality in patients with SMs. Results: The annual age-adjusted incidence rates of SMs increased steadily since 2004, reaching a rate of 0.40 cases per 100 000 population in 2019, with a female-to-male ratio of ~4:1. The age groups of 50-59, 60-69, and 70-79 years old were the most prevalent ages for SMs, accounting for 19.08, 24.93, and 23.32%, respectively. In addition, seven independent prognostic factors were identified to establish a prognostic nomogram for patients with SMs. The decision curve analysis and receiver operating characteristic curve indicated that the nomogram had high clinical utility and favorable accuracy. Moreover, the mortality risk stratification system effectively divided patients into low-risk, middle-risk, and high-risk subgroups. Conclusions: SMs are relatively rare benign spinal tumors prevalent in the white elderly female population. Clinicians could use the nomogram to personalize the prediction of the overall survival probability of patients with SMs, categorize these patients into different mortality risk subgroups, and develop personalized decision-making plans. Moreover, the web-based dynamic nomogram could help to further promote clinical application and assist clinicians in providing personalized counseling, timely monitoring, and clinical assessment for patients. The recent evolution of technology and the Internet has transformed how individuals find and share information. Research shows that citizens of all ages and backgrounds struggle with critical online information evaluation (COIE), which could result in serious societal consequences. Although it is crucial to develop student proficiency within this key information literacy construct beginning in middle school, there is currently no interdisciplinary framework for designing COIE instruction or assessments. To address this gap, we have developed a comprehensive COIE model for curriculum developers, assessment creators, and practitioners to implement at the secondary and post-secondary level. In this paper, we provide crossdisciplinary theoretical context and empirical grounding for our model, offer guidance for its practical application in the 6-16 curriculum, and discuss metacognitive and sociocultural considerations for developing and measuring learners' COIE proficiency. To observe whether HMGB1 could enhance the paracrine effect of MSCs when the Mesenchymal stem cells (Mesenchymal stem cells, MSCs) are pre-proccessed by High Mobility Group Box-1 (High Mobility Group Box-1, HMGBl). And to observe whether it can further increase the quantity of local angiogenesis in myocardial infarcts on the rat model with acute myocardial infarction, HMGB1 was combined with MSCs transplantation. MSCs in rats were cultivated with adherence and centrifugation method. Receptors of TLR4and RAGE in HMGB1 were tested. The MSCs were interfered by HMGB1 with different concentration gradient respectively, then the expression of VEGF was tested with ELISA method. SD male rats were divided into four groups: the model group, the MSCs transplantation group, the HMGB1 injection group, the HMGB1 injection plus MSCs transplantation group (n = 24), preparing rat model with acute myocardial infarction. The serum VEGF concentration levels were detected on the 3rd day, 7th and 28th day with ELISA method. On the 28th day after post operation the density of angiogenesis in infarction area was detected by immunohistochemal. (1) MSCs owned the expression of TLR4 and RAGE. (2) the secretion of VEGF increased significantly after the intervention of HMGB1 with concentration of 12.5 ng/mL, 25 ng/mL, 50 ng/mL, 100 ng/mL and 200ng/ml on MSCs compared with the control group. While the concentration was 400ng/ml or 800ng/ml, the secretion of VEGF decreased compared with the control group (P < 0.05). (3) detection of the serum VEGF on the 3rd or7th day after post operation was arranged: The results showed that: HMGB1 injection plus MSCs transplantation group > MSCs transplantation group >HMGB1 injection group >model group (P < 0.05). (4) the quantity of CD31 stained angiogenesis in HMGBl injection plus MSCs transplantation group increased obviously. Combining MSCs transplantation, contributed to new angiogenesis of rats with acute myocardial infarction in myocardial infarction area and its near area in rats with acute myocardial infarction. Abstract: Background: Colorectal polyps are common in children. The purpose of this report was to describe a clinical experience with colorectal polyps at the Beijing Children''s Hospital and to evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography in screening colorectal polyps in children. Method: This was a retrospective medical record review of 487 children with colorectal polyps managed at the Beijing Children''s Hospital between August 2003 and April 2010. Results: The mean age at presentation was 4.7 ± 2.5 years, with a male predominance (M/F ratio, 1.9:1). Most children (n = 458, 94%) presented with hematochezia associated with other symptoms, such as recurrent abdominal pain (n = 42, 8.6%), prolapse of the polyp from the anus (n = 43, 8.8%), and diarrhea (n = 10, 2.1%). Anemia was observed in 33 (6.8%) children, 4 of whom required a blood transfusion before the colonoscopy. Among the 487 patients, 352 (72.3%) patients underwent ultrasonography before the colonoscopy. Polyps were detected on 345 of 352 ultrasonographic examinations in which patients subsequently underwent colonoscopy and were found to have colonic polyps. The most common polyp locations were the sigmoid colon (n = 212, 46.1%) and the rectum (n = 174, 37.8%). Solitary polyps were identified in 421 patients (88.4%), and multiple polyps were identified in 55 (11.6%) patients. Colonoscopy complications were rare, with colonic perforation observed in 2 patients and postcolonoscopy hemorrhage observed in 1 patient. The available pathology records showed that the most frequent histological type was juvenile polyps (n = 435, 91.8%), followed by Peutz-Jeghers polyps (n = 17, 3.6%), juvenile polyposis (n = 14, 3.0%), hamartomas (n = 6, 1.3%), familial adenomatous polyposis (n = 1, 0.2%), and inflammatory polyps (n = 1, 0.2%). Conclusion: Ultrasonic examination is a valid, accurate, and safe technique for screening colorectal polyps in children; and a full colonoscopy should be performed to remove the polyp(s) as soon as possible.
