Abstract: The effects of H2 flow rate during plasma pretreatment on synthesizing the multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by using the microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition are investigated in this study. A H2 and CH4 gas mixture with a 9:1 ratio was used as a precursor for the synthesis of MWCNT on Ni-coated TaN/Si(100) substrates. The structure and composition of Ni catalyst nanoparticles were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The present findings showed that denser Ni catalyst nanoparticles and more vertically aligned MWCNTs could be effectively achieved at higher flow rates. From Raman results, we found that the intensity ratio of G and D bands (I D/I G) decreases with an increasing flow rate. In addition, TEM results suggest that H2 plasma pretreatment can effectively reduce the amorphous carbon and carbonaceous particles. As a result, the pretreatment plays a crucial role in modifying the obtained MWCNTs structures.

Drones are a vital part of our daily lives because of their flexible flying nature and low operation and maintenance costs. Navigation is the most important aspect in the autonomous drone era. With that being said, recent studies have tackled the greatly challenging task of obtaining the most feasible and safest path. In this work, we focus on safe and reliable unmanned aerial vehicle navigation in densely populated city environments to efficiently follow the lane. We present herein a deep learning method through which a drone can autonomously navigate by following a lane in a dynamic urban environment. This drone perceives the environment by using two cameras facing front and down. A convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to capture the high-level feature representation through the attention and residual mechanism of the drone's raw visual inputs. The CNN concurrent pipelines used for three raw visual inputs can output high-level features and follow the concurrent feature fusion into the self-head attention mechanism that encapsulates both dynamic and static information to predict yaw and linear velocity. These predictions are modulated into the final control commands to obtain smooth and continuous inputs that are delivered to the drone. The experimental evaluation results show that the proposed method can learn the drone's navigation strategy for a lane following a guidance system. The high performance of the trained navigation policy is observed in the simulations with different scenarios. In conclusion, our proposed approach outperforms both existing and current state-of-the-art ImageNet models.

The results show that the partitioning temperature affects the distribution of martensite and austenite, with the parallel distribution of martensite being thicker and longer, making the austenite distributed between them more stable; the retained austenite at the boundary of the short rod-like martensite is subjected to larger deformation forces and is less stable. The best overall performance of the test steel was achieved when the partitioning temperature was 230°C, with a total elongation after breaking of 27.4%, and the product of tensile strength and elongation was 34.8 GPa-%.

This study focused on a promising selective capture strategy for the sequestration of TcO4−under highly acidic conditions by exploring its analog, ReO4−, to simplify the experimental conditions. A reductive SnS nanoflower (SSF) adsorbent system was synthesized and applied for the selective removal of ReO4−under highly acidic conditions. The synthesized SSF possessed an excellent adsorption capacity of 584 mg g−1, reached saturation within 60 min, and maintained the ReO4−capture ability in the presence of competing anions. The removal efficiency of ReO4−was up to 98.37% with a distribution coefficient of ∼6.03 × 104mL g−1in a 3 M HCl solution. Microscopy images indicated that the SSF retained its nanoflower structure after adsorbing ReO4−. Based on the characterization data, a capture mechanism is proposed, whereby ReO4−is reduced to Re(iv) by the SSF to generate ReS2. In addition, the use of the SSF adsorbent for the capture of TcO4−resulted in the almost complete removal of these ions, even at very low concentrations. Moreover, the SSF successfully removed ReO4−in 2 M HNO3by adding KCl. These excellent properties suggest that inorganic reducing materials can be used for the practical application of TcO4−sequestering from nuclear wastewater.

Variants in RYR1, the gene encoding the ryanodine receptor-1, can give rise to a wide spectrum of neuromuscular conditions. Muscle imaging abnormalities have been demonstrated in isolated cases of patients with a history of RYR1-related malignant hyperthermia (MH) susceptibility. To provide insights into the type and prevalence of muscle ultrasound abnormalities and muscle hypertrophy in patients carrying gain-of-function RYR1variants associated with MH susceptibility and to contribute to delineating the wider phenotype, optimizing the diagnostic work-up and care for of MH susceptible patients. We performed a prospective cross-sectional observational muscle ultrasound study in patients with a history of RYR1-related MH susceptibility (n = 40). Study procedures included a standardized history of neuromuscular symptoms and a muscle ultrasound assessment. Muscle ultrasound images were analyzed using a quantitative and qualitative approach and compared to reference values and subsequently subjected to a screening protocol for neuromuscular disorders. A total of 15 (38%) patients had an abnormal muscle ultrasound result, 4 (10%) had a borderline muscle ultrasound screening result, and 21 (53%) had a normal muscle ultrasound screening result. The proportion of symptomatic patients with an abnormal result (11 of 24; 46%) was not significantly higher compared to the proportion of asymptomatic patients with an abnormal ultrasound result (4 of 16; 25%) (P = 0.182). The mean z-scores of the biceps brachii (z = 1.45; P <  0.001), biceps femoris (z = 0.43; P = 0.002), deltoid (z = 0.31; P = 0.009), trapezius (z = 0.38; P = 0.010) and the sum of all muscles (z = 0.40; P <  0.001) were significantly higher compared to 0, indicating hypertrophy. Patients with RYR1 variants resulting in MH susceptibility often have muscle ultrasound abnormalities. Frequently observed muscle ultrasound abnormalities include muscle hypertrophy and increased echogenicity.

Currently, autonomous vehicles (AVs) have gained considerable research interest in motion planning (MP) to control driving. Deep learning (DL) is a subset of machine learning motivated through neural networks. This article provides the latest survey on theories and applications of DL, reinforcement learning (RL), and deep RL, and it summarizes different DL methods. In addition, we present the main issues in autonomous driving (AD) and analyze DL-based architectures for decision-making frameworks in MP tasks, such as lane assist, lane following, overtaking, collision avoidance, emergency braking, and MP. Furthermore, we introduce well-known publicly available datasets collected on public roads and simulators suitable for different AD purposes and discuss simulator environments, activation functions, and DL-based libraries for output control in AVs. Moreover, we discuss challenges in terms of hardware and software, safety, computational time and cost, balanced data, multitask learning, and technology issues. Finally, we present future directions for MP.

AbstractThe advertising effect on consumers would be affected not only by the presentation of advertising messages but also by other factors. This study was based on the regulatory focus theory, mainly discussing the relationship among consumer goal orientation fits, the consumers’ product knowledge and advertising effects. In this study, 285 valid questionnaires were obtained. The results of the study showed that it has a better advertising effect in terms of the attitude toward advertising, attitude toward the brand, and purchase intention when the consumer goal orientation is the promotion focus, and the messages on advertising have promotion benefits. Moreover, when the consumer goal orientation fits the benefits of the advertising messages, and the consumers’ product knowledge is on the novice level, rather than expert level, consumers in the fit situation are more likely to have a better attitude toward advertising, attitude toward the brand and, purchase intention than in non-fit situations.

The southern part of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge (KPR) is located at the conjunction of the West Philippine Basin, the Parece Vela Basin, the Palau Basin, and the Caroline Basin. This area has extremely complex structures and is critical for the research on the tectonic evolution of marginal seas in the Western Pacific Ocean. However, only few studies have been completed on the southern part, and the geophysical fields and deep structures in this part are not well understood. Given this, this study finely depicts the characteristics of the gravity and magnetic anomalies and extracts information on deep structures in the southern part of the KPR based on the gravity and magnetic data obtained from the 11th expedition of the deep-sea geological survey of the Western Pacific Ocean conducted by the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey, China Geological Survey using the R/V Haiyangdizhi 6. Furthermore, with the data collected on the water depth, sediment thickness, and multichannel seismic transects as constraints, a 3D density model and Moho depths of the study area were obtained using 3D density inversion. The results are as follows. (1) The gravity and magnetic anomalies in the study area show distinct zoning and segmentation. In detail, the gravity and magnetic anomalies to the south of 11°N of the KPR transition from high-amplitude continuous linear positive anomalies into low-amplitude intermittent linear positive anomalies. In contrast, the gravity and magnetic anomalies to the north of 11°N of the KPR are discontinuous and show alternating positive and negative anomalies. These anomalies can be divided into four sections, of which the separation points correspond well to the locations of deep faults, thus, revealing different field-source attributes and tectonic genesis of the KPR. (2) The Moho depth in the basins in the study area is 6–12 km. The Moho depth in the southern part of KPR show segmentation. Specifically, the depth is 10–12 km to the north of 11°N, 12–14 km from 9.5°N to 11°N, 14–16 km from 8.5°N to 9.5°N, and 16–25 km in the Palau Islands. (3) The KPR is a remnant intra-oceanic arc with the oceanic-crust basement.which shows noticeably discontinuous from north to south in geological structure and is intersected by NEE-trending lithospheric-scale deep faults. With large and deep faults F3 and F1 (the Mindanao fault) as boundaries overall, the southern part of the KPR can be divided into three zones. In detail, the portion to the south of 8.5°N (F3) is a tectonically active zone, the KPR portion between 8.5°N and 11°N is a tectonically active transition zone, and the portion to the north of 11°N is a tectonically inactive zone. (4) The oceanic crust in the KPR is slightly thicker than that in the basins on both sides of the ridge, and it is inferred that the KPR formed from the thickening of the oceanic crust induced by the upwelling of deep magma in the process of rifting of remnant arcs during the Middle Oligocene. In addition, it is inferred that the thick oceanic crust under the Palau Islands is related to the constant upwelling of deep magma induced by the continuous northwestward subduction of the Caroline Plate toward the Palau Trench since the Late Oligocene. This study provides a scientific basis for systematically understanding the crustal attributes, deep structures, and evolution of the KPR.

AbstractIn recent years, many companies have started to launch “retro” edition products. This study introduces Air Jordan retro shoes as the experimental case and uses a questionnaire survey to determine whether the product attributes and brand awareness have influence on consumers. In addition, we consider product knowledge as a moderator to examine whether product knowledge has a moderating effect between the two independent variables (product attributes and brand awareness) and consumers. The results of this study are, as follows: 1. Regarding product attributes, expressive performance can make consumers have higher purchase intention and perceived value than instrumental performance. 2. Brand awareness has a significantly positive relation with purchase intention and perceived value. 3. Product knowledge has no moderating effect between product attributes and consumers. 4. Product knowledge has no moderating effect between brand awareness and consumers.

A hexadentate macrocyclic N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand precursor (H4L)(PF6)4containing four benzimidazolium and two secondary amine groups, has been synthesized and characterized. Coordination chemistry of this new macrocyclic diamine-tetracarbene ligand has been studied by the synthesis of its Ag(I), Au(I), Ni(II), and Pd(II) complexes. Reactions of (H4L)(PF6)4with different equiv of Ag2O result in Ag(I) complexes [Ag(H2L)](PF6)3(1) and [Ag2(H2L)](PF6)4(2). A mononuclear Au(I) complex [Au(H2L)](PF6)3(3) and a trinuclear Au(I) complex [Au3(H2L)(Cl)2](PF6) (4) are obtained by transmetalation of 1and 2with AuCl(SMe2), respectively. Reactions of (H4L)(PF6)4with Ni(OAc)2and Pd(OAc)2in the presence of NaOAc yield [Ni(L)](PF6)2(5) and [Pd(L)](PF6)2(6), respectively, containing one Ni(II) and Pd(II) ion with distorted square-planar geometry. Using more NaOAc results in the formation of unusual dinuclear complexes [Ni2(L–2H)](PF6)2(7) and [Pd2(L–2H)](PF6)2(8) (L–2H = deprotonated ligand after removing two H+ions from two secondary amine groups in L), respectively, featuring a rare M2N2core formed by two bridging amides. 7is also formed by the reaction of 5with 1.0 equiv of Ni(OAc)2·4H2O in the presence of NaOAc. Transmetalation of 2with 2.0 equiv of Ni(PPh3)2Cl2gives [Ni2(L)(μ-O)](PF6)2(9), the first example of a dinuclear Ni(II) complex with a singly bridging oxo group. 9is converted to 7in good yield through the treatment with NaOAc.

Programmed DNA structures and assemblies are readily accessible, but site-specific functionalization is critical to realize applications in various fields such as nanoelectronics, nanomaterials and biomedicine. Besides pre- and post-DNA synthesis conjugation strategies, on-solid support reactions offer advantages in certain circumstances. We describe on-solid support internucleotide coupling reactions, often considered undesirable, and a workaround strategy to overcome them. Palladium coupling reactions enabled on-solid support intra- and interstrand coupling between single-stranded DNAs (ss-DNAs). Dilution with a capping agent suppressed interstrand coupling, maximizing intrastrand coupling. Alternatively, interstrand coupling actually proved advantageous to provide dimeric organic/DNA conjugates that could be conveniently separated from higher oligomers, and was more favorable with longer terphenyl coupling partners.

ABSTRACTClostridium difficile(C. difficile) is a kind of obligate anaerobic gram-positive Bacillusrelated with intestinal diseases and antibiotic treatment. In present study, the C. difficilegenome was studied employing met genomic technology. Genome sequencing identified C. difficileLCL126 has total size of 4,301,949 bp with a 27.97% of GC content. Specifically, 4119 predicted coding genes, 188 repeat sequences, 13 prophages and 8 gene islands were detected. Additionally, gene function analysis aspect of the function annotation, effector, and virulence were concluded that total of 3367 cluster of orthologous groups of proteins genes and classified into 24 categories, while the most outstanding class was metabolic process (1533) and catalytic activity (1498). The carbohydrate-active enzymes have been detected 127 genes, pathogenicity analysis revealed that 133 reduced and 22 increased virulence (hypervirulence) genes, while 54 unaffected and 10 loss of pathogenicity genes were found. Furthermore, perform the visualization and methylation expression were revealed that the dominant types comprised m4C, m5C, and m6C with the number of 6989, 36,666, and 3534, respectively. Overall, whole genome sequence information of C. difficileLCL126 was obtained and functional prediction was revealed its possible toxicological potential genes existence.

The design and construction of radioactive stable metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are highly desirable for noble gases (Xe and Kr) separation from off-gas steams during used nuclear fuel reprocessing under radiation environments. Al-based MOFs are promising for realistic applications of Xe/Kr separation due to their high hydrothermal and chemical stability and comparatively easy and massive preparation by nonpoisonous, abundant, and cheap metal. Herein, we report on two isoreticular microporous Al-MOFs Al-Fum (Al-fumarate, Basolite A520) and Al-Fum-Me (Al-methyl-fumarate) with high radioactive stability for Xe/Kr separation. Appending methyl groups on the framework provides an effective approach to reduce and fine-tune the pore size of Al-Fum-Me to match well with the Xe atom and remarkably improve the framework-Xe affinity. Al-Fum-Me exhibits significantly enhanced Xe/Kr separation performance compared to Al-Fum, demonstrated by adsorption isotherms and breakthrough experiments. Gamma-ray irradiation experiments also identified the high radioactive stability of Al-Fum-Me, suggesting its great potential for practical application on Xe/Kr separation.

Translation of a genetic codon without a cognate tRNA gene is affected by both the cognate tRNA availability and the interaction with non-cognate isoacceptor tRNAs. Moreover, two consecutive slow codons (slow di-codons) lead to a much slower translation rate. Calculating the composition of host specific slow codons and slow di-codons in the viral protein coding sequences can predict the order of viral protein synthesis rates between different virus strains.

AbstractThis study uses Spotify as the main brand, and aims to investigate the effects of different product categories (hedonic products /utilitarian products), brand alliance fitness, and locus of control on customer’s brand attitude and purchase intention. A total of 309 valid samples were collected. The results show that the different product categories of cooperative brands affect customer’s brand attitude and purchase intention, especially for hedonic products. And locus of control has moderating effects in some cases. Based on the results, this study proposes marketing practice suggestion for Spotify about choosing cooperation brand and some recommendation for the future research.

Successful hotel branding requires the management of both external and internal branding. External branding has been widely studied to understand how hotel brands connect with customers; however, internal branding targets internal employees, and the practice is not well understood by hoteliers. For that reason, this study proposes a framework for implementing internal branding in hotel organizations. We analyzed an internal branding project for three consecutive years using a participatory action study. The findings of this study support a six dimensions framework for implementing internal branding strategies: (1) corporate support; (2) leadership of managers; (3) reciprocal learning; (4) being proactive at the personal level; (5) characteristics of departments; and (6) performance evaluation. In the proposed framework, we applied a combined social identity and social exchange approach to identify how these approaches function in different paths which contributes new theoretical insights to the understanding of internal branding.

A base-promoted amination of aromatic halides has been developed using a limited amount of dimethylformamide (DMF) or amine as an amino source. Various aryl halides, including F, Cl, Br, and I, have been successfully aminated in good to excellent yields. Although the amination of aromatic halides with amines or DMF is usually considered as an aromatic nucleophilic substitution (SNAr) process, and the reactivity of an aromatic halide is F > Cl > Br > I, the reactivity of aromatic halides in this system was found to be I > Br ≈ F > Cl. This protocol also showed a good regioselectivity for multihalogenated aromatics. This protocol is valuable for industrial application due to the simplicity of operation, the unrestricted availability of amino sources and aromatic halides, transition metal-free conditions, no requirement for solvent, and scalability.

Monitoring is an important concept in network management as it helps network operators to determine the behavior of a network and the status of its components. Traffic engineering, quality of service, and anomaly detection also depend on monitoring for decision making. Software-defined networking (SDN) is becoming increasingly popular for network provision and management tasks. This paper surveys the tasks and challenges associated with SDN, providing an overview of SDN monitoring developments. Several design concepts, research directions, and open issues are also discussed.

A mild and practical tandem oxidative ring-opening/cyclization reaction mediated by Ce4+for the synthesis of 1-tetralones is presented. This rapid transformation was completed within 30 s and conducted in an open reactor at 0 °C in a water–acetonitrile mixture. Various cyclobutanol derivatives are transformed into desired products in good to high yields, and this reaction can be easily scaled up to the gram scale.

AbstractRecently, due to the popularity of mobile devices and the Internet, instant messaging software has become one of the major tools to contact others and maintain interactions. In Taiwan, the users of LINE, a communication software, account for 73% of its total population, which is due to the innovation and creativity of emojis. The emoticons are new ways to communicate with others and they create new marketing markets. Therefore, this study explores the relationships among customer perceived value, product type, personality traits and purchase intention. The result shows that customer perceived value and product type have positive effects on purchase intention.

Shear strains, among other ground motions, can be induced by weather‐related processes. As a result, broadband seismic data offer a unique tool for understanding these natural weather events. Here we used continuous seismic, meteorological, and stream data to analyze weather‐related ground motions during typhoons and rainy seasons in Taiwan. In addition to high‐frequency signals, we detected ultralong period seismic signals at the station Mahsi (MASB) during three meteorological events: Typhoon Kalmaegi in 2008, Typhoon Morakot in 2009, and the East Asian rainy season in 2012. Seismic velocity signals with frequencies lower than 0.3 mHz correlate with precipitation and with the time derivative of the water level in a nearby river. We converted the seismic signals to ground tilt and found that the tilt correlates with the time history of river water level, which fluctuates with precipitation. The seismically derived tilt ranges from 10−8to 10−7radians, consistent with an analytic circular loading model, indicating water level fluctuations of higher than 1 m in the small river 30 m away from MASB. To quantify precipitation using seismic data, we successfully modeled seismic waveforms using an empirical Green's function method, which gives good fits to both main event seismic waveforms and precipitation time history. This work demonstrates that continuous recordings from broadband seismometers may help determine local fluvial water load and could be useful for decadal rainfall change research. Mountaineering is one of main recreational activities of modern people. The mountain accidents include mountain sickness, hypothermia, missing, accidental fall and so on. This paper proposes an intelligent emergency rescue assisted mountaineering system, including a wearable device and a management platform. The physiological signals are monitored for mountain sickness and hypothermia, asking the user to take precautionary measures in advance. In the missing and accidental fall scenarios, the search and rescue team is provided with timely information, and the wearable device is switched to emergency beacon signal automatically, helpful to increase the efficiency of search and rescue. Added to this, the mobile device is integrated with Bluetooth, the mobile device can send the geo information and the information on the wearable device to the management system by means of its communication capability. When an accident happens, the mobile device and wearable device send the beacon signal crosswise, the power usage rate is maximised effectively, the search and rescue time is prolonged. This system architecture effectively prevents mountain accidents, indicates the location and informs related units to provide emergency rescue at the soonest.

The network emulation testbed is a promising research area because it provides a platform to fulfill testing requirements, creating emulated environments for conducting experiments. Through such testbeds, heterogeneous resources can be well controlled as emulated environment, and new ideas can be verified in the environment without interfering the real world. Thus, it can be used to reduce the time of the developers for conducting experiment to explore new inventions. Various kinds of network emulation testbed have been around for years, and it can be expected that more testbeds will emerge. To provide an integrated perspective of network emulation testbed, this paper surveys the issues associated in developing network emulation testbeds, including the state-of-the-art of architecture, the interoperability of orchestrating resources, and the way of managing components. Several wide-area, geographically distributed and large-scale network testbeds have been reviewed and discussed. A theoretical magnetic field intensity model within giant magnetostrictive material was presented. This model was established just like the reluctance model, while could describe the non-uniform distribution flexibly for its integral form. This model employed magnetic circuit theorem calculating the mean of the magnetic field, while used a normalized function describing the distributing character. The distributing function was determined by Biot–Savart law and relative permeability of the material. The model was validated with the help of the experimental device. At last, the fitting degree of the model with the tested results in predicting the performance of the actuator is researched.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are extensively used as a class of flame retardants and have become ubiquitous environmental pollutants. We aimed to uncover the changes in microbial community with PBDE anaerobic degradation with and without zero-valent iron in sediment from the Erren River, considered one of the most heavily contaminated rivers in Taiwan.

The booming development of the Internet has brought about many notable industries, such as webcasts. The mutual influence between webcasters and game players is important, yet overlooked. This study explored whether or not the personality traits of webcasters and the involvement of online game had any influence on the loyalty and satisfaction of online game players. The results of our questionnaire survey of online game players revealed that the personality traits of webcasters had a significant and positive influence on their loyalty and satisfaction; hence, the involvement of game players influenced their satisfaction and loyalty to the game.

D2D communication is an effective approach for traffic offloading in future cellular systems. However, only using direct D2D communication is not enough to fully exploit the advantages of D2D communications due to long distances or poor link quality between source and destination D2D UEs. This work aims to enhance the traffic offloading capacity of cellular-assisted D2D communication, taking into account D2D relays. In particular, we propose a unified model for D2D communication, in which two other D2D communication modes, that is, relay-assisted D2D and local route based D2D, are also supported by UEs in addition to direct D2D mode. We design radio protocol architectures for the three D2D modes and propose an eNB scheduling algorithm, which enables the eNB to perform joint scheduling on mode selection, radio resource allocation, and power coordination for all D2D pairs in each subframe. The effectiveness of our designs is validated by simulations.

Metal-mediated DNA (mmDNA) presents a pathway toward engineering bioinorganic and electronic behavior into DNA devices. Many chemical and biophysical forces drive the programmable chelation of metals between pyrimidine base pairs. Here, we developed a crystallographic method using the three-dimensional (3D) DNA tensegrity triangle motif to capture single- and multi-metal binding modes across granular changes to environmental pH using anomalous scattering. Leveraging this programmable crystal, we determined 28 biomolecular structures to capture mmDNA reactions. We found that silver(I) binds with increasing occupancy in T–T and U–U pairs at elevated pH levels, and we exploited this to capture silver(I) and mercury(II) within the same base pair and to isolate the titration points for homo- and heterometal base pair modes. We additionally determined the structure of a C–C pair with both silver(I) and mercury(II). Finally, we extend our paradigm to capture cadmium(II) in T–T pairs together with mercury(II) at high pH. The precision self-assembly of heterobimetallic DNA chemistry at the sub-nanometer scale will enable atomistic design frameworks for more elaborate mmDNA-based nanodevices and nanotechnologies.
