3. Long-term outcomes following hepatectomy in patients with lean non-alcoholic fatty liver disease-associated hepatocellular carcinoma versus overweight and obese counterparts: A multicenter analysis.

- Abstract
With the rising prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) as a significant etiology for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), lean NAFLD-HCC has emerged as a specific distinct subtype. This study sought to investigate long-term outcomes following curative-intent hepatectomy for early-stage NAFLD-HCC among lean patients compared with overweight and obese individuals. A multicenter retrospective analysis was used to assess early-stage NAFLD-HCC patients undergoing curative-intent hepatectomy between 2009 and 2022. Patients were stratified by preoperative body mass index (BMI) into the lean (<23.0 kg/m
2 ), overweight (23.0–27.4 kg/m2 ) and obese (≥27.5 kg/m2 ) groups. Study endpoints were overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS), which were compared among groups. Among 309 patients with NAFLD-HCC, 66 (21.3 %), 176 (57.0 %), and 67 (21.7 %) were lean, overweight, and obese, respectively. The three groups were similar relative to most liver, tumor, and surgery-related variables. Compared with overweight patients (71.3 % and 55.6 %), the lean individuals had a worse 5-year OS and RFS (55.4 % and 35.1 %, P = 0.017 and 0.002, respectively), which were comparable to obese patients (48.5 % and 38.2 %, P = 0.939 and 0.442, respectively). After adjustment for confounding factors, multivariable Cox-regression analysis identified that lean bodyweight was independently associated with decreased OS (hazard ratio: 1.69; 95 % confidence interval: 1.06–2.71; P = 0.029) and RFS (hazard ratio: 1.72; 95 % confidence interval: 1.17–2.52; P = 0.006) following curative-intent hepatectomy for early-stage NAFLD-HCC. Compared with overweight patients, individuals with lean NAFLD-HCC had inferior long-term oncological survival after hepatectomy for early-stage NAFLD-HCC. These data highlight the need for examination of the distinct carcinogenic pathways of lean NAFLD-HCC and its potential consequences in HCC recurrence. - Abstract
Nine new structurally diverse filicinic acid–based meroterpenoids (1–9) with four kinds of carbon skeletons were isolated from the rhizomes of Dryopteris wallichiana. Their structures, including the absolute configurations, were elucidated by comprehensive analysis of spectroscopic data, quantum chemical calculations, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structurally, compounds 1–4feature an unprecedented 6/6/5/6/6/6 hexacyclic system with a rare oxaspiro[4.5]decane core linking the filicinic acid and ent-kaurane-type diterpene moieties. Compounds 5–6are rare hybrids of filicinic acid and carotane-type sesquiterpene. Compound 7is an unusual rearranged filicinic acid-carotane-type sesquiterpene meroterpenoid. Compounds 8–9are two enantiomeric pairs of new meroterpenoids constructed by filicinic acid and a germarane-type sesquiterpene. A plausible biosynthetic pathway for the nine compounds was proposed. Notably, compounds 5, 6, (+)/(−)-8, and (+)/(−)-9were discovered to possess antiproliferative activity against PC-3 cells based on virtual screening, and in vitro bioassay. 6. Impact of Dexmedetomidine Dosing and Timing on Acute Kidney Injury and Renal Outcomes After Cardiac Surgery: A Meta-Analytic Approach

- Abstract
Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious complication following cardiac surgery. Dexmedetomidine, a highly selective α2-adrenergic agonist, has shown potential renoprotective effects, but previous studies have yielded conflicting results.Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dexmedetomidine in preventing AKI and reducing postoperative serum creatinine levels in adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery.Methods: We comprehensively searched 5 databases for randomized controlled trials comparing dexmedetomidine with control groups in adult cardiac surgery patients. The main outcomes were the incidence of AKI and change in postoperative serum creatinine levels. Meta-analyses were conducted using RevMan 5.4 models, and subgroup analyses were performed based on dexmedetomidine dosing and timing of administration. Continuous outcomes were combined and analyzed using either mean difference (M.D.), while dichotomous outcomes were analyzed using risk ratio (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI).Results: Our study included a total of 14 trials involving 2744 patients. Dexmedetomidine administration significantly reduced the incidence of AKI compared to control groups (RR = 0.54, 95% CI: 0.41-0.70, P< 0.00001). Postoperative serum creatinine levels were also lower with dexmedetomidine (MD = −0.14 mg/dL, 95% CI: −0.28 to −0.001, P=0.04). Subgroup analyses revealed that higher initial doses (>0.5 μg/kg) and administration during intraoperative and postoperative periods were associated with more pronounced renoprotective effects. Dexmedetomidine did not significantly affect mortality but reduced the duration of the length of hospital stay and mechanical ventilation.Conclusions and Relevance: This meta-analysis demonstrates that dexmedetomidine administration, particularly at higher doses and during both intraoperative and postoperative periods, reduces the risk of AKI in adults undergoing cardiac surgery. These findings support the use of dexmedetomidine as a preventive strategy to enhance renal outcomes in this population.

7. Memory-Based Event-Triggered Control of Markov Jump Systems Under Hybrid Cyber Attacks: A Switching-Like Adaptive Law

- Abstract
This paper investigates the security control of a class of discrete-time Markov jump systems (DMJS). Due to the vulnerability of open communication networks to cyber attacks, a hybrid attack model is established to describe the situation where the DMJS is simultaneously suffered from deception attacks (DAs) and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. To cope with the intermittent characteristic of DoS attacks, adaptive memory-based event-triggered control (AMETC) with a switching-like adaptive law is proposed. The designed AMETC includes historical triggered data in its triggering condition, hence allows data transmission to adjust adaptively based on the long-term change of system state. In addition, when DoS attacks are launched by attackers, the designed switching-like adaptive law can help decrease the threshold to trigger more sampled data so as to stabilize the DMJS. These features contribute to improve the tolerance of the whole control system to DoS attacks and DAs. On the basis of the AMETC, a novel Lyapunov functional is designed, and sufficient conditions are derived to ensure the asymptotic stability of DMJSs. This functional plays a crucial role in ensuring the negative definiteness of the LMIs in the stability condition. Based on the stability condition, a design algorithm for security control gains and event-trigger matrices is given. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed mechanism. Note to Practitioners—This paper was motivated by existing results on memory-based event-triggered control (METC) and hybrid cyber attacks. The aim of this paper is to design a novel AMETC with a switching-like adaptive law to cope with the impact of hybrid attacks on system performance. In practical applications, if the event-triggered mechanism only considers the transient information of the system, it may lead to high peak responses of the control systems, resulting in a decrease in system performance. Therefore, the AMETC proposed in this paper considers both the transient information and the long-term state change of the system. It can adjust the data transmission rate adaptively and save transmission resources effectively. Additionally, based on the designed AMETC, sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the safe and stable operation of DMJSs. Our theoretical analysis and simulation results show the effectiveness and superiority of the designed mechanism.

- Abstract
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a fatal critical disease, is induced by various insults. ARDS represents a major global public health burden, and the management of ARDS continues to challenge healthcare systems globally, especially during the pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). There remains no confirmed specific pharmacotherapy for ARDS, despite advances in understanding its pathophysiology. Debate continues about the potential role of glucocorticoids (GCs) as a promising ARDS clinical therapy. Questions regarding GC agent, dose, and duration in patients with ARDS need to be answered, because of substantial variations in GC administration regimens across studies. ARDS heterogeneity likely affects the therapeutic actions of exogenous GCs. This review includes progress in determining the GC mechanisms of action and clinical applications in ARDS, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

9. Development and validation of nomograms to predict survival and recurrence after hepatectomy for intermediate/advanced (BCLC stage B/C) hepatocellular carcinoma.

Despite the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer system discouraging hepatectomy for intermediate/advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, the procedure is still performed worldwide, particularly in Asia. This study aimed to develop and validate nomograms for predicting survival and recurrence for these patients. We analyzed patients who underwent curative-intent hepatectomy for intermediate/advanced hepatocellular carcinoma between 2010 and 2020 across 3 Chinese hospitals. The Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital cohort was used as the training cohort for the nomogram construction, and the Jilin First Hospital and Fujian Mengchao Hepatobiliary Hospital cohorts served as the external validation cohorts. Independent preoperative predictors for survival and recurrence were identified through univariable and multivariable Cox regression analyses. Predictive accuracy was measured using the concordance index and calibration curves. The predictive performance between nomograms and conventional hepatocellular carcinoma staging systems was compared. A total of 1,328 patients met the inclusion criteria. The nomograms for predicting survival and recurrence were developed using 10 and 6 independent variables, respectively. Nomograms' concordance indices in the training cohort were 0.777 (95% confidence interval 0.759–0.800) and 0.719 (95% confidence interval 0.697–0.742) for survival and recurrence, outperforming 4 conventional staging systems (P <.001). Nomograms accurately stratified risk into low, intermediate, and high subgroups. These results were validated well by 2 external validation cohorts. We developed and validated nomograms predicting survival and recurrence for patients with intermediate/advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, contradicting Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer surgical guidelines. These nomograms may facilitate clinicians to formulate personalized surgical decisions, estimate long-term prognosis, and strategize neoadjuvant/adjuvant anti-recurrence therapy. The self-healing coatings for metals aroused researchers' interest due to their spontaneous repair of coating damage. In this study, intelligent damage-reporting and self-healing anti-corrosion coatings were developed using electrospun fiber as the core functional materials. The fibers exhibited core–shell structures, with the core materials being the solutions of the composite fluorescence probe RTPE. The shell materials consisted of the photothermal shape memory polymer, namely, phosphotungstic acid modified polyaniline-polyurethane composite polymer. Rhodamine Tetraphenylethylene (RTPE) demonstrated water-triggered aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effects and also exhibited fluorescence response to corrosive factors such as hydrogen ions and iron ions at the damaged area of the coatings. Under the trigger of the infrared laser, the modified polyaniline converted light energy into heat, causing the softening of epoxy and the shape memory effect of polyurethane. These processes facilitated the closure and repair of the damage, thus restoring their anti-corrosion functionality. Phosphotungstic acid played a role in enhancing the photothermal efficiency. The self-healing mechanism reinforced the corrosion resistance of the coatings. The self-indicating feature for damaged areas provided guidance for artificial repair in regions that did not self-heal satisfactorily. The synergistic and intelligent functionalities of the prepared coatings foreshadowed the significant potential applications in marine and aerospace corrosion protection fields. 13. STING-Targeted PET Imaging for Specific Detection and Therapeutic Monitoring of Myocarditis

- Abstract
Imaging strategies for the specific detection and therapeutic monitoring of myocarditis are still lacking. Stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is a signal transduction molecule involved in an innate immune response. Here, we evaluated the feasibility of the recently developed STING-targeted radiotracer [18F]FBTA for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to detect myocardial inflammation and monitor treatment in myocarditis mice. [18F]FBTA-PET imaging was performed in myocarditis mice and normal mice to verify the specificity of [18F]FBTA for the diagnosis of myocarditis. We also performed PET imaging in mice with myocarditis treated to verify the ability of [18F]FBTA in therapeutic monitoring. The expression of STING and inflammatory cell types was confirmed by flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. [18F]FDG-PET imaging of myocarditis was used as a contrast. [18F]FBTA-PET imaging showed that the average radioactive uptake was significantly higher in the hearts of the myocarditis group than in the control group. STING was highly overexpressed in cardiac inflammatory cells, including macrophages, dendritic cells (DCs), and T cells. However, there was no significant difference in cardiac radiotracer uptake of [18F]FDG between the myocarditis group and the control group. Moreover, cardiac uptake of [18F]FBTA was significantly reduced in cyclosporin A-treated myocarditis mice and myocardial STING expression was also significantly reduced after the treatment. Overall, we showed that a STING-targeted PET tracer [18F]FBTA can be used to monitor changes in the inflammatory microenvironment in myocarditis. Besides, [18F]FBTA-PET is also suitable for real-time monitoring of myocarditis treatment, representing a promising diagnostic and therapeutic monitoring approach for myocarditis.

15. Performance of a Full-Coverage Cervical Cancer Screening Program Using on an Artificial Intelligence– and Cloud-Based Diagnostic System: Observational Study of an Ultralarge Population.

Background: The World Health Organization has set a global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer, emphasizing the need for cervical cancer screening coverage to reach 70%. In response, China has developed an action plan to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer, with Hubei province implementing China's first provincial full-coverage screening program using an artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based diagnostic system. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the performance of AI technology in this full-coverage screening program. The evaluation indicators included accessibility, screening efficiency, diagnostic quality, and program cost. Methods: Characteristics of 1,704,461 individuals screened from July 2022 to January 2023 were used to analyze accessibility and AI screening efficiency. A random sample of 220 individuals was used for external diagnostic quality control. The costs of different participating screening institutions were assessed. Results: Cervical cancer screening services were extended to all administrative districts, especially in rural areas. Rural women had the highest participation rate at 67.54% (1,147,839/1,699,591). Approximately 1.7 million individuals were screened, achieving a cumulative coverage of 13.45% in about 6 months. Full-coverage programs could be achieved by AI technology in approximately 1 year, which was 87.5 times more efficient than the manual reading of slides. The sample compliance rate was as high as 99.1%, and compliance rates for positive, negative, and pathology biopsy reviews exceeded 96%. The cost of this program was CN ¥49 (the average exchange rate in 2022 is as follows: US $1=CN ¥6.7261) per person, with the primary screening institution and the third-party testing institute receiving CN ¥19 and ¥27, respectively. Conclusions: AI-assisted diagnosis has proven to be accessible, efficient, reliable, and low cost, which could support the implementation of full-coverage screening programs, especially in areas with insufficient health resources. AI technology served as a crucial tool for rapidly and effectively increasing screening coverage, which would accelerate the achievement of the World Health Organization's goals of eliminating cervical cancer. - Abstract
ABSTRACTThe Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (PHITS) is a general-purpose Monte Carlo radiation transport code that can simulate the behavior of most particle species with energies up to 1 TeV (per nucleon for ions). Its new version, PHITS3.33, was recently developed and released to the public. In the new version, the compatibility with nuclear data libraries and the algorithm of the track-structure modes have been improved, and they are recommended to be used for certain simulation conditions. Some utility functions and software have been developed and integrated into the new PHITS package, such as PHITS Interactive Geometry viewer in 3D (PHIG-3D) and RadioTherapy packaged based on PHITS (RT-PHITS). With these upgraded features, PHITS can be applied in a wide diversity of fields – beyond traditional nuclear engineering domains – including cosmic-ray, environmental, medical, life, and material sciences. In this paper, we summarize the upgraded features of PHITS3.33 with respect to the physics models, utility functions, and application software introduced since the release of PHITS3.02 in 2017.

Widely applied aluminum alloys in ship hulls, underwater vehicles, and marine machinery experience severe corrosion in harsh marine environments. For corrosion protection of aluminum alloys, the most convenient, effective, and low-cost approach was the application of anti-corrosion coatings. Coatings possessing self-healing properties to spontaneously repair damages have emerged as a research focus for new types of coatings. In this study, focused on the indication and repair of anti-corrosion coating damages for aluminum alloys, the fluorescent aggregation-induced emission (AIE) composite probe, rhodamine-naphthalimide (RNI), was synthesized, and the composite polymer materials HPPA-SMPU containing 2-hydroxyphosphinoyl carboxylic acid-doped polyaniline and shape memory polyurethane were prepared. Coaxial electrospinning technology was introduced to combine the two and create the fibrous materials with the fiber wall constructed from HPPA-SMPU, encapsulating the interior RNI solution. The fibers were incorporated into the epoxy coatings. RNI exhibited water-triggered AIE, Al3+-CHEF (chelation-enhanced fluorescence), and pH-responsive fluorescent properties to indicate infrared laser-targeted points of coating damages. The photothermal properties of HPPA-SMPU caused localized heating of the damaged coatings, reaching the phase transition temperature of epoxy and SMPU, leading to softening, expansion, shape memory behavior, and healing of the coating damages. The self-healing approaches enhanced the protective performance of the coatings for aluminum alloys, showcasing and extending the development of synergistic and intelligent functions in novel self-healing coating technologies.

- Abstract
This article considers the secure control of Markovian jumping systems (MJSs) under stochastic deception attacks that occurred in the communication network. Therein, the stochastic deception attack is described by a Bernoulli random variable. Considering the limited network bandwidth and the impact of deception attacks simultaneously, we propose an attack-probability-dependent adaptive event-triggered mechanism. Not only can it reduce the number of controller updates, but it can also adapt to the variation of system dynamics subject to deception attacks. A mathematical model is established for the closed-loop system under stochastic deception attacks. Then, a time-dependent looped functional is constructed to reduce the conservatism of stability results. The norm of the system state is estimated, and based on the discrete-time Lyapunov theory, a less conservative stability criterion is derived. Then, an easy-to-implement design algorithm for the controller gain is given so that the exponential stabilization in the mean square sense can be realized for the MJS subject to stochastic deception attacks. Finally, an electrical circuit example is provided to validate the feasibility and superiority of the presented method.

We aimed to test whether and how ChatGPT understood the epidemiological problems related to fluoride intake and whether ChatGPT could produce novel and feasible hypotheses to tackle the challenges in the research for the disorders caused by a deficient or excessive fluoride intake. We designed a set of questions to evaluate the knowledge of ChatGPT version 4o on the epidemiological problems related to fluoride intake. Three evaluators then reviewed these answers. We then requested ChatGPT4o to produce hypotheses for the eight disorders related to insufficient or excessive fluoride intake. These hypotheses were then evaluated independently by three evaluators. Finally, summaries were made through group discussions among all the authors. For the three questions on basic knowledge about the effect of fluoride on public health, the answers from ChatGPT were rated as excellent or good. For the 12 answers from ChatGPT to the epidemiological questions, 8 out of 12 answers were graded A, as excellent. Four answers were rated as B for good. The descriptions provided by ChatGPT on the effects of fluoride intake were comprehensive and well-structured. Six out of 8 answers were graded as excellent and the other 2 as good. ChatGPT proposed a hypothesis for each of the 8 disorders that are caused by either a deficiency or excess level of fluoride. Four hypotheses were rated as novel and feasible. Three hypotheses were considered relatively new and feasible. Only one hypothesis was regarded as an established hypothesis. As AI technology develops, it can assist health professionals in understanding the disorders and researchers in their work on the mechanisms behind the disorders caused by insufficient or excessive fluoride intake. 21. Heterogeneity changes of active bacterial community on cigar filler leaves after fermentation based on metagenome

Microorganisms play an important role in cigar fermentation. To further explore the dynamic changes of bacterial community composition, the changes of surface bacterial diversity of cigar filler leaves were investigated in the present study by high-throughput sequencing technology. It was found that the surface bacterial richness was declined after fermentation, and the dominant microorganisms on the surface of cigar filler leaves evolved from Pseudomonasspp. and Sphingomonasspp. before fermentation to Staphylococcusspp. after fermentation. The chemical composition and sensory quality evaluation of cigar filler leaves were closely related to the changes of surface bacterial community. The changes of the dominant surface bacterial community led to the differences of metabolic functions, among which the metabolic pathways such as the synthesis of secondary metabolites, carbon metabolism, and amino acid biosynthesis were significantly different. We use a modified die-rolling experiment to study whether negative externality affects a group's decisions about whether to cheat. Our results show that group members are less likely to lie when faced with a passive out-group player only if two members of the group share an unequal payment for lying. The less-paid party in the group plays a dominant role in the honest decision by proposing the true number more frequently in arguments for group coordination.

Data on recurrence are important to inform surveillance and improve long-term surgical outcomes for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. We sought to identify risk factors and long-term prognosis among patients who experienced beyond-Milan recurrence after hepatectomy for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma. Patients who underwent hepatectomy for Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage 0/A hepatocellular carcinoma were identified from a multi-institutional database. Predictors of beyond-Milan recurrence and risk factors associated with post-recurrence survival among patients with beyond-Milan recurrence were assessed using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. Among 753 patients (median follow-up, 51.8 months), 138 (18.3%) developed beyond-Milan recurrence. Regular surveillance (interval follow-up ≤3 months within 1 year and ≤6 months in subsequent years after surgery) was not carried out for 53 (38.4%) patients who developed beyond-Milan recurrence. On multivariate analysis, increased risk of beyond-Milan recurrence was independently associated with preoperative alpha-fetoprotein level >400 ng/mL, tumor size >5.0 cm, multifocal disease, microvascular invasion, and no/irregular recurrence surveillance. Median post-recurrence survival among patients with beyond-Milan recurrence was only 8.4 months (95% confidence interval: 7.0–9.8 months). Among patients who developed beyond-Milan recurrence, Child-Pugh grade B/C, early recurrence within 1 year after surgery, macrovascular invasion/distant metastasis, and noncurative treatment of recurrence were independent risk factors associated with worse post-recurrence survival. Nearly 1 in 5 patients developed beyond-Milan recurrence after hepatectomy for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma. Patients with beyond-Milan recurrence had a median survival of less than 1 year after diagnosis of the recurrence. Regular surveillance is an important and actionable measure to decrease beyond-Milan recurrence and, in turn, improve long-term survival among patients treated with hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma. Background:Cardiac arrest (CA) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and ferroptosis are proven pathological mechanisms implicated in neuronal damage. Baicalein, a ferroptosis Inhibitor, improved outcomes after traumatic brain injury. We aimed to explore the effects of baicalein on brain injury viaferroptosis and ER stress in a rat model of CA.Methods:Cardiac arrest models were established in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. The sham group (n = 6) was untreated with inducing ventricular fibrillation to cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Survival rats were randomly divided into five groups (n = 6). Ferroptosis inhibitor and ER stress agonist were administered separately and together in three groups. There was no drug intervention in the remaining group. The neurological deficit scores were recorded. Characteristics of ferroptosis were observed. And the associated protein of ferroptosis and ER stress were determined by Western blot. Cerebral ROS production was measured by using 2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein diacetate as the oxidative fluorescent probe. Results:Baicalein treatment improved neurological outcomes and decreased neurocyte injuries compared with CPR group. The changes of ferroptosis, more specifically, iron content, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), reactive oxygen species (ROS), arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase (ALOX15) and mitochondrial characteristics, were observed in brain tissue after ROSC. ALOX15 was lower in baicalein group than in CPR group. The morphology and structure of mitochondria in baicalein group were better than in CPR group. The ER stress markers, glucose-regulated protein 78, activating Transcription Factor 4 and C/EBP homologous protein was lower in baicalein group compared with CPR group. ROS in tunicamycin group was higher than in CPR group. And ROS in baicalein +tunicamycin group was lower than in tunicamycin group. Conclusion:Ferroptosis and ER stress are both involved in brain injury after ROSC. Baicalein alleviates brain injury viasuppressing the ferroptosis and ER stress, and reduces ROS partly through inhibiting ER stress. Baicalein is a potential drug to relieve brain injury after ROSC.

In this article, the exponential synchronization of Markovian jump neural networks (MJNNs) with time-varying delays is investigated via stochastic sampling and looped-functional (LF) approach. For simplicity, it is assumed that there exist two sampling periods, which satisfies the Bernoulli distribution. To model the synchronization error system, two random variables that, respectively, describe the location of the input delays and the sampling periods are introduced. In order to reduce the conservativeness, a time-dependent looped-functional (TDLF) is designed, which takes full advantage of the available information of the sampling pattern. The Gronwall–Bellman inequalities and the discrete-time Lyapunov stability theory are utilized jointly to analyze the mean-square exponential stability of the error system. A less conservative exponential synchronization criterion is derived, based on which a mode-independent stochastic sampled-data controller (SSDC) is designed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated by a numerical example.

29. Memory-based adaptive event-triggered secure control of Markovian jumping neural networks suffering from deception attacks

- Abstract
In this article, we study the secure control of the Markovian jumping neural networks (MJNNs) subject to deception attacks. Considering the limitation of the network bandwidth and the impact of the deception attacks, we propose two memory-based adaptive event-trigger mechanisms (AETMs). Different from the available event-trigger mechanisms, these two memory-based AETMs contain the historical triggered data not only in the triggering conditions, but also in the adaptive law. They can adjust the data transmission rate adaptively so as to alleviate the impact of deception attacks on the controlled system and to suppress the peak of the system response. In view of the proposed memory-based AETMs, a time-dependent Lyapunov functional is constructed to analyze the stability of the error system. Some sufficient conditions to ensure the asymptotical synchronization of master-slave MJNNs are obtained, and two easy-to-implement co-design algorithms for the feedback gain matrix and the trigger matrix are given. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the feasibility and superiority of the two memory-based AETMs.

Portal hypertension due to cirrhosis is common among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to compare the outcomes of partial hepatectomy in patients with HCC and clinically significant portal hypertension (CSPH) with or without concurrent splenectomy and esophagogastric devascularization (CSED). From a multicenter database, patients with HCC and CSPH who underwent curative-intent hepatectomy were identified. Postoperative morbidity and mortality, and long-term overall survival (OS) were compared in patients with and without CSED before and after propensity score matching (PSM). Of the 358 enrolled patients, 86 patients underwent CSED. Before PSM, the postoperative 30-day morbidity and mortality rates were comparable between the CSED and non-CSED group (both P > 0.05). Using PSM, 81 pairs of patients were created. In the PSM cohort, the 5-year OS rate of the CSED group were significantly better than the non-CSED group (52.9% vs. 36.5%, P = 0.046). The former group had a significantly lower rate of variceal bleeding on follow-up (7.4% vs. 21.7%, P = 0.014). On multivariate analysis, CSED was associated with significantly better OS (HR: 0.39, P < 0.001). Hepatectomy and CSED can safely be performed in selected patients with HCC and CSPH, which could improve postoperative prognosis by preventing variceal bleeding, and prolonging long-term survival. 33. Effect of long-term care insurance on medical expenditure and health status: National cohort study

- Abstract
Background: Long-term care insurance (LTCI) was implemented in China to solve the elderly care problems caused by the aging population. It is crucial to evaluate the effectiveness of LTCI implementation from the perspective of value-based healthcare. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the impact of LTCI on medical care expenditure and health status in China. Methods: We used staggered difference-in-differences (DID) analysis to analyze the effect of LTCI policy on medical expenditure and health status based on China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study data from 2011 to 2018. Results: Our findings confirmed the positive contribution of LTCI policies to medical expenditures and health status. We found that the implementation of LTCI significantly reduced inpatient and outpatient expenditure, scores of self-report of health, and CESD scores by 26.3%, 12.3%, 0.103, and 0.538, respectively. It also decreased ADL scores, but the decrease was not significant. The impact of LTCI on reducing inpatient expenditure was greater for individuals aged between 65 and 80 and those residing in urban areas and eastern cities. In terms of outpatient costs, the effect of LTCI was more pronounced among median and high-income people and people living in central and eastern cities. The impact of LTCI on self-report of health is stronger for rural populations, individuals under 80, and those in central and eastern cities. For ADL scores, LTCI affected those aged 65–80 the most. About the CESD scores, LTCI had a greater impact on rural populations, people aged 45–65, median income groups, and those in eastern cities. Conclusions: Our study underscored LTCI’s effectiveness in curbing medical expenditures and enhancing health status, offering valuable insights for future LTCI development in China and beyond. Accelerating the development of LTCI is conducive to improving the quality of life of the disabled elderly, enhancing the well-being of people’s livelihoods, and realizing the goal of value-based healthcare.

34. Dexmedetomidine in combination with ketamine for pediatric procedural sedation or premedication: A meta-analysis.

Objective: To evaluate effectiveness of combinational use of dexmedetomidine and ketamine (DEX-KET) for pediatric procedural sedation or premedication.Methods: Relevant studies were identified after a literature search in electronic databases and study selection was based on precise eligibility criteria. Meta-analyses of mean differences were performed to examine differences in sedation onset and recovery times between DEX-KET and comparators. Changes from baseline in heart rate (HR), respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and mean arterial pressure (MAP), were pooled. Meta-analyses of proportions were performed to estimate incidence of adverse events.Results: 15 studies (1087 patients) were included. Onset of sedation was significantly shorter in DEX-KET than in DEX group. HR declined in DEX-KET group from start (-3.5 beats per minute (BPM) [95% CI: -5.1, -1.9]) through midpoint (-7.2 BPM [95% CI: -12.1, -2.3]) and at end of sedation (-8.7 BPM [95% CI: -13.1, -4.4]). Decrease in HR after DEX administration at start was -11.6 BPM [95% CI: -16.0, -7.1] and remained consistent afterward. There was no change in MAP during DEX-KET sedation. However, after DEX administration, MAP decreased by -6.9 [95% CI: -10.4, -3.3] at start, -7.8 [95% CI: -11.4, -4.2] at middle, and by -6.6 [95% CI: -14.4, 1.1] at end of sedation. Incidence of hypotension was 3% [95% CI: 0, 9] in DEX-KET, 7% [95% CI: 2, 14] in DEX, and 0% [95% CI: 0, 2] in KET groups. Incidence of bradycardia was 2% [95% CI: 0, 6] with DEX-KET and 12% [95% CI: 5, 20] with DEX. Incidence of oxygen desaturation was 3% [95% CI: 0, 8] in DEX-KET, 2% [95% CI: 0, 6] in DEX, 12% [95% CI: 5, 20] in KET, and 13% [95% CI: 6, 21] in PROP-KET groups. MIDA-KET sedation had 13% [95% CI: 4, 25] incidence of tachycardia.Conclusions: DEX-KET for pediatric sedation results in better sedation outcomes than DEX or KET by shortening onset of sedation and recovery while maintaining hemodynamic and respiratory stability with low incidence of adverse events. DEX sedation was associated with higher incidence of bradycardia. The concept of textbook outcomes (TOs) has gained increased attention as a critical metric to assess the quality and success of outcomes following complex surgery. A simple yet effective scoring system was developed and validated to predict risk of not achieving textbook outcomes (non-TOs) following hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Using a multicenter prospectively collected database, risk factors associated with non-TO among patients who underwent hepatectomy for HCC were identified. A predictive scoring system based on factors identified from multivariate regression analysis was used to risk stratify patients relative to non-TO. The score was developed using 70 % of the overall cohort and validated in the remaining 30 %. Among 3681 patients, 1458 (39.6 %) failied to experience a TO. Based on the derivation cohort, obesity, American Society of Anaesthesiologists score(ASA score), Child-Pugh grade, tumor size, and extent of hepatectomy were identified as independent predictors of non-TO. The scoring system ranged from 0 to 10 points. Patients were categorized into low (0–3 points), intermediate (4–6 points), and high risk (7–10 points) of non-TO. In the validation cohort, the predicted risk of developing non-TOs was 39.0 %, which closely matched the observed risk of 39.9 %. There were no differences among the predicted and observed risks within the different risk categories. Germinated pigeon pea seeds (GPPSs) are good dietary supplements with satisfactory nutritional and medicinal values. In this study, UV-B treatment was used to promote the accumulation of health-promoting phenolic compounds (10 flavonoids and 1 stilbene) in GPPS. The total yield of 11 phenolic compounds (235 839.76 ± 17 118.24 ng/g DW) significantly improved (2.53-fold increase) in GPPSs exposed to UV-B radiation (3 W/m2) for 8 h, whereas free amino acid and reducing sugar contents exhibited a decreasing tendency during UV-B exposure. Meanwhile, the positive response in the antioxidant activities of enzymes and nonenzymatic extracts was noticed in UV-B-treated GPPSs. Moreover, UV-B radiation could cause tissue damages in hypocotyls and cotyledons of the GPPSs and enhance the generation of endogenous salicylic acid, thus activating the expression of biosynthesis genes (especially CHSand STS1). Overall, the simple UV-B supplementation strategy makes GPPSs more attractive as functional foods/nutraceuticals in diet for promoting human health.

Inspired by a previously reported biomimetic synthesis study, four new naturally occurring phloroglucinol trimers 1–4with unusual 6/5/5/6/6/6-fused hexacyclic ring systems, along with two known analogues (5and 6) and two known biogenetically related dimers (10and 11), were isolated from Rhodomyrtus tomentosa. Their structures and absolute configurations were unambiguously elucidated by spectroscopic analysis, X-ray diffraction, and electronic circular dichroism calculation. By mimicking two potentially alternative biosynthetic pathways, the first asymmetric syntheses of 1–4and the racemic syntheses of 5and 6were achieved in only five to six steps without the need for protecting groups. Furthermore, phloroglucinol dimers 10and 11exhibited significant in vitro antiviral activity against the respiratory syncytial virus.

As an important epigenetic modification, N4-methylcytosine not only controls DNA replication and cell cycle, but also participates in regulating cell differentiation and gene expression. However, the understanding of its biological function is far from enough. In order to further reveal the function and regulatory mechanism of 4mC, it is important to accurately identify the 4mC site and detect its distribution in the genome. In this study, we propose 4mcDeep-W2VC, a general and efficient deep neural network to identify 4mC sites. Different with other methods, our proposed predictor can automatically extract features based on DNA sequences. We use the word2vec algorithm to learn the distributed representation of k-mers instead of one-hot encoding. Compared with the traditional k-mers method, the distributed representation we obtained considers the potential relationship between k-mers. Next, we input the distributed representation of the DNA sequence into convolutional neural network to extract hidden high-level and more biological features. The experimental results show that our predictor can achieve better performance in identifying 4mC sites compared to the state-of-art predictors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection and rational utilization of resources, natural fiber reinforced composites have shown broad development prospects. Apocynum fiber, known as the "king of wild fiber", not only has moisture absorption - air permeability, and goad mechanical properties but also has many health-related advantages such as antibacterial properties. In this study, four types of needle-punched Apocynum fiber and ramie fiber mat reinforced polylactic add (PLA) composites were fabricated. Mechanical and thermal properties of the composites were tested and analyzed. The results showed that compared with those of the ramie fiber finish needle-punched mat reinforced composites, the tensile strength and the tensile modulus of Apocynum fiber finish needle-punched mat reinforced composites had increased by 15.3% and 60.1%, respectively. In comparison- the bending strength and the bending modulus were decreased by 21.8% and 7. 6%, respectively. Moreover, compared with the Apocynum fiber finish needled-punehed mat reinforced composites and the ramie fiber finish needle-punched mat reinforced composites - the Apocynum 50/ramie 50 finish needle-punched mat reinforced composites had the best tensile and bending properties. The after-fracture morphology was detected by a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The thermal properties of the composites were also characterized. ABSTRACTIn Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Atg9 is an important autophagy-related (Atg) protein, and interacts with hundreds of other proteins. How many Atg9-interacting proteins are involved in macroautophagy/autophagy is unclear. Here, we conducted a multi-omic profiling of Atg9-dependent molecular landscapes during nitrogen starvation-induced autophagy, and identified 290 and 256 genes to be markedly regulated by ATG9in transcriptional and translational levels, respectively. Unexpectedly, we found most of known Atg proteins and autophagy regulators that interact with Atg9 were not significantly changed in the mRNA or protein level during autophagy. Based on a hypothesis that proteins with similar molecular characteristics might have similar functions, we developed a new method named inference of functional interacting partners (iFIP) to integrate the transcriptomic, proteomic and interactomic data, and predicted 42 Atg9-interacting proteins to be potentially involved in autophagy, including 15 known Atg proteins or autophagy regulators. We validated 2 Atg9-interacting partners, Glo3 and Scs7, to be functional in both bulk and selective autophagy. The mRNA and protein expressions but not subcellular localizations of Glo3 and Scs7 were affected with or without ATG9during autophagy, whereas the colocalizations of the 2 proteins and Atg9 were markedly enhanced at early stages of the autophagic process. Further analyses demonstrated that Glo3 but not Scs7 regulates the retrograde transport of Atg9 during autophagy. A working model was illustrated to highlight the importance of the Atg9 interactome. Improving the umami taste of seasoning is an important topic of discussion in the current scenario based on the conventional technology of using soybean protein isolates (SPI) as proposed as the base material for seasoning. In this study, a novel SPI seasoning was created by fermenting the SPI hydrolysate of Corynebacterium glutamicum to increase the umami taste of its fermented products. The differences between traditional SPI enzymatic hydrolysate fermentation (Sample S), traditional C. glutamicum fermentation (Sample F), and the aforementioned novel fermentation (Sample SF) were investigated. The results showed that Sample SF had the best umami taste, saltiness, and richness, which was compared with sample S and F showing significant differences, respectively (P < 0.05). Succinic acid, lactic acid, and acetic acid were the main organic acids in the seasonings, accounting for 92.24% of the total organic acids. The total fresh-sweet free amino acids content of sample SF was 7.22 and 2.15 times that of samples S and F, respectively, and 5′-nucleotide content was 2.85 and 2.35 times that of Samples S and F, respectively. Glu, 5′-inosine monophosphate, and 5′-guanosine monophosphate contents contributed remarkably to the umami taste of the seasoning (P < 0.05). Furthermore, among all the detected umami compounds, 18 conformed the variable important projection (VIP) values > 1.0. Therefore, SPI hydrolysate fermentation by C. glutamicum may improve the umami flavor of fermented products. This study presents a novel method for producing new SPI-containing seasonings on a commercial scale. • The content of SPI seasonings' OAs, FAAs, and 5′-nucleotides rises as a result of C. glutamate fermentation. • The umami taste of SPI seasonings is enhanced by C. glutamate fermentation. • The umami of SPI seasonings was strongly correlated with OAs, FAAs, and 5′-nucleotides, according to PCA. • Important elements influencing the umami of SPI seasonings are Glu, 5′-IMP, and 5′-GMP. Enterocytozoon bieneusiis the most common microsporidian species in humans and can affect over 200 animal species. Considering possible increasing risk of human E. bieneusiinfection due to close contact with pet dogs and identification of zoonotic E. bieneusigenotypes, 589 fresh fecal specimens of pet dogs were collected from Yunnan Province, China to determine the occurrence of E. bieneusi, characterize dog-derived E. bieneusiisolates, and assess their zoonotic potential at the genotype level. Enterocytozoon bieneusiwas identified and genotyped by PCR and sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene. Twenty-nine specimens (4.9%) were positive. A statistical difference was observed in occurrence rates of E. bieneusiin pet dogs among 11 sampling sites by Fisher’s exact test. Fifteen genotypes were identified and all of them phylogenetically belonged to zoonotic group 1, including four known genotypes (EbpC, D, Peru 8, and Henan-III) and 11 novel genotypes. Genotype Henan-III was reported in dogs for the first time. The finding of known genotypes found previously in humans and novel genotypes falling into zoonotic group 1 indicates that dogs may play a role in the transmission of E. bieneusito humans in the investigated areas.

Wild edible mushrooms are important as a source of nutraceuticals and for the discovery of bioactive metabolites as pharmaceuticals. In this work, 10 rare 2,5-diarylcyclopentenone derivatives were isolated from the wild edible mushroom Paxillus involutus(Batsch) Fr., including eight novel compounds termed involutenone A–H (1–8) and two previously identified compounds (9–10). Their structures were established using high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy and 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance data. The absolute configurations of compounds 1–3and 6–8were assigned based on the comparison of the experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism data. The antioxidant activities of 1–8were tested through DPPH free radical scavenging, hydroxyl radical scavenging, and superoxide anion radical scavenging assays. Compounds 3, 5, 6, and 7demonstrated significant antioxidant activity compared to the positive control (tert-butylhydroquinone). These compounds could be effective natural antioxidants with considerable pharmaceutical value.

Hematological malignancies are a class of malignant neoplasms attributed to abnormal differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). The systemic involvement, poor prognosis, chemotherapy resistance, and recurrence common in hematological malignancies urge researchers to look for novel treatment targets and mechanisms. In recent years, epigenetic abnormalities have been shown to play a vital role in tumorigenesis and progression in hematological malignancies. In addition to DNA methylation and histone modifications, which are most studied, RNA methylation has become increasingly significant. In this review, we elaborate recent advances in the understanding of RNA modification in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and molecular targeted therapies of hematological malignancies and discuss its intricate interactions with other epigenetic modifications, including DNA methylation, histone modifications and noncoding RNAs.

50. Cytotoxic Germacranolides from the Whole Plant of Carpesium minus

Eight new germacranolides, minusolides A–H (1–8), along with two known analogues, 9and 10, were isolated from the whole plant of Carpesium minus. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1and 2, and 6and 9are two pairs of rare epimers with opposite configurations at C-2 of the 2-methylbutyryloxy group. The absolute configurations were determined by X-ray diffraction studies. Compound 7exhibited cytotoxic activities against MDA-MB-231, A549, and HCT-116 cells with IC50values of 6.1 ± 0.2, 8.4 ± 0.6, and 3.7 ± 0.6 μM, respectively. Compound 7induced the apoptosis of HCT-116 cells via suppression of PARP and promoting cleavage of PARP.
