The pomelo peel biomass adsorbent was prepared via facile process and employed in the efficient adsorption of Pb(II). Adsorption efficiency of pomelo peel for Pb(II) removal maintained at high level in the wide pH range of 3.0-8.0. Pb(II) removal efficiency was 88.76% at neutral condition with the adsorbent dosage of 4.0 g/L. Langmuir model was preferable to describe the adsorption of Pb(II) onto pomelo peel and Pb(II) was adsorbd onto the prepared adsorbent mainly in monolayer coverage. Pseudo second order kinetics was suitable to expound the adsorption process. A relative hight temperature was favorable for the pomelo peel biomass adsorbent to promote adsorption capacity and accelerate adsorption rate. Three main phase were undergone in the adsorption of Pb(II) onto pomelo peel with varying rate limiting steps. The prepared pomelo peel biomass adsorbent exhibited a wide range of adaptability and practically. Pomelo peel was promising to be an efficient and environmental friendly adsorbent in removing heavy metal from aqueous solution with application potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
