A circular wave energy converter (WEC) is put forward to solve the cable loosing problem of the non-circular structure WEC model. The circular device mainly consists of a double acting ratchet, cable, a driving wheel, four fixed pulleys, a counterweight, a gear box and a generator. In this modified model, the weight of counterweight is smaller than that of the float. The model can obtain a bigger maximum and average driving torque when the float rises, so that the utilization rate of wave energy is improved. Moreover, the influence of the float shape is also discussed.

Three columns filled with multi-size combined medium were utilized in the simulative vertical-flow constructed wetland systems to treat wastewater at hydraulic loading rate of 2000-3000 mm/d, that the same kind of media including biological ceramsite, anthracite and zeolite in each column. Comparative analyses were made in treatment performances between multi-size medium and single medium. The results showed that compared with the treatment performances of single medium, the purifying effect had great influence by the multi-size combined medium which were made up of same kind and different size of filter medium. Contrast with the corresponding single medium, the average removal efficiencies of CODCr, Total Nitrogen (TN), and Total Phosphorus (TP) were increased obviously which were purified by the multi-size combined medium. Good performances were achieved in terms of removal of BOD5 and CODCr in the column of multi-size combined biological ceramsite medium. The average removal efficiencies of TN were great in the column of multi-size combined zeolite medium. Good performances were also achieved in terms of removal of TP in the column of multi-size combined anthracite medium.

This paper introduced a kind of rainwater biofiltration processing technology being researched and applied in Australia. It summarized FAWB researchers’ major research and progress on the system configuration, packaging selection, plant selection and purification effect of this technology. And the advantages were presented in removing the suspended matters, heavy metal ions and nutritional pollutants in rainwater biofiltration system, as well as in regarding to the characteristics of effectively stored the rainwater for recycling in system configuration. The paper also put forward suggestions to the technical improvement for our country’s rainwater treatment system and structure design for reference.

μNear-infrared (NIR) emissions have been observed in Sm3+ doped low phonon energy heavy-metal-gallate glasses. The full-widths at half-maximum (FWHMs) of three fluorescence bands peaking at 960, 1038, and 1185 nm were derived to be 31, 36, and 42 nm, respectively, and the spontaneous transition probabilities were calculated to be 66, 16, and 6 s-1. Maximum stimulated emission cross-sections ( σem) for NIR transition emissions were obtained to be 4.22´10-22, 1.37´10-22, and 0.71´10-22 cm2, respectively. Investigations on multi-channel NIR transition emissions of Sm3+, especially on the ~1.19 μm emission, which lies in the low-loss wavelength region of transmission window, are beneficial for potential applications in infrared optoelectronic devices.

Dielectric constants of Larix gmelinii were measured at 1.1 MHz to 25 MHz (near to frequency of high-frequency heating ), from oven-drying condition to 100％ moisture content, with longitudinal, radial and tangential directions measuring in the experiment. The results showed that: the relationship between MC and dielectric constant can be described as exponential relationship from MC=8% to the fiber saturation point (FSP), above FSP it is linear relationship. The dielectric constant showed decreasing trends when frequency raised. When f﹥10MHz change trend is slow. Permittivity across longitudinal direction is bigger than that across transverse direction，but the difference across tangential direction and that across radial direction is small.

Based on the analysis of glass formation region of Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 glass system, the glass composition 5Li2O-18Y2O3-29Al2O3-48SiO2 (LYAS) in mol% central in the glass formation region of Y-Al-Si glass system was chosen for present work. The Tm3+ and Yb3+ were introduced as activators in LYAS glass. The glass samples were prepared by the high-temperature solid-state melting and then the derived YAG glass-ceramic was obtained by heat-treating the precursor glass. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis results indicate that the lattice constant of the obtained glass-ceramic is consistent with the pure YAG phase. The primary crystallite size is calculated to be 46nm and the crystal grains grow with excellent orientation (444) in the internal network. The secondary particle size is estimated to be ~8μm and the large grain size is owing to the particles aggregation. The crystal grains distributed uniformly in the glass matrix, and consistent well with the XRD analysis results.

Rare-earth doped glass-ceramics were prepared by heat-treating the precursor germanate glasses. The crystalline phases of the glass-ceramics were assigned to be NaAlGeO4 (NAG) and Mg2GeO4 (MG), and the primary particle sizes were derived to be ~31 and ~32nm, respectively. The secondary particle size of crystal grains was estimated to be ~30µm, and the large grain size is owing to the particles aggregation. Under 254 and 365nm radiation, Sm3+-doped glass-ceramics exhibit orange and reddish-orange fluorescences, and Eu-doped glass-ceramics present red and purplish-red lights, respectively. The investigation results of excitation spectra indicate that the Sm3+- and Eu-doped NAG-MG glass-ceramics can be excited efficiently by commercial UV and blue laser diodes, as well as blue and bluish-green LEDs.

Electrical resistance method was used to detect layer moisture content across the thickness of Larch (Larix gmelinii) specimen during drying, and the temperature of the same layers and the environment were also measured by remote temperature scanner. During the drying process, layer moisture content was obtained from other Larch specimens with slicing method. Layer moisture content measured with electrical method was compared with that acquired with slicing method. Results showed that the wood center temperature was more suitable than the environment temperature as compensated temperature to amend moisture content measuring with electrical resistance method; variation of layer moisture content of Larch specimen could be more or less measured with electrical resistance method, and had a relatively good agreement with that acquired with slicing method except that u15 was 3% higher than U1 and u3 was 4% higher than U3 in the middle stage of drying.
