As technology advances, processor speeds are increasing at a rapid pace and digital systems require a significant amount of data bandwidth. As a result, careful consideration of signal integrity is required to ensure reliable and high-speed data processing. Crosstalk has become a vital area of research in signal integrity for electronic packages, mainly because of the high level of integration. Analytic formulas were analyzed in this study to identify the features that can predict crosstalk in multi-conductor transmission lines. Through the analysis, five variables were found and obtained a dataset consisting of 302,500, data points. The study evaluated the performance of various regression models for optimization via automatic machine learning by comparing the machine learning predictions with the analytic solution. Extra tree regression consistently outperformed other algorithms, with coefficients of determination exceeding 0.9 and root mean square logarithmic errors below 0.35. The paper deals with the application of stochastic differential-algebraic equations (SDAE) in the field of the time-domain simulation of hybrid (lumped/distributed) systems with randomly varying parameters. A core of the method lies on the theory of stochastic differential equations (SDE) considering the system responses as stochastic processes. However, due to a hybrid nature of the system, namely its lumped parameter part, non-differential (algebraic) parts arise generally in the solution. Herein, multiconductor transmission lines (MTL) play a role of the distributed-parameter parts of the hybrid system. The MTL model is designed as a cascade connection of generalized RLCG T-networks, while the state-variable method is applied for its description. The MTL boundary conditions are incorporated through a modified nodal analysis (MNA) to cover arbitrarily complex circuits. System responses are formed by the sets of stochastic trajectories completed by corresponding sample means and respective confidence intervals. To get the results a weak stochastic backward Euler scheme is used, consistent with the Itô stochastic calculus. All the computer simulations have been performed in the Matlab language environment. An algorithm, based on the successive approximation technique for the parallel synthesis of the multi-tapped meander microstrip delay line (MTMDL), is presented. Multiconductor line model and finite difference method are used for analysis of the MTMDL. Parallel computations in the proposed algorithm are organized according to both -- data parallelism and task parallelism concepts. Efficiency of two parallel synthesis algorithms one proposed, and another based on Monte Carlo method, is compared. It is shown that while number of computational nodes is small by comparison (e.g. not larger than 3) then efficiency of the proposed algorithm about 5 times exceeds Monte Carlo method based algorithm efficiency. Properties of the helical structures with internal anisotropic shields are considered in the paper. Models of systems based on the multiconductor line method and the CST Microwave Studio software package are used. The expressions for the retardation factor and the input impedance of the system are derived using the multiconductor line method. Analysis of the retardation factor allowed to show that there are possibilities to design helical structures with internal anisotropic shields having good dispersion properties and relatively high characteristic impedance. Simulation made using the CST Microwave Studio package confirmed the properties of the systems revealed using the multiconductor line method. Furthermore, in addition it allowed the detection of parasitic resonances that are available in helical systems with anisotropic internal shields. A new spur-line defected ground structure (DGS) was designed, which was realized by etching in bottom-layer of the substrate. Meanwhile, a novel ultra-wide stopband low pass filter with the spur-line DGS was developed, which composed of two spur-line DGS structures and the high/low impedance microstrip transmission line. It achieved the performance of wide stopband with miniaturization in structure. The following data were obtained from the simulation. The 3 dB cutoff frequency is 2.87 GHz, Sn in pass-band are less than --20 dB, the stopband under the --20 dB is from 3.5 GHz to 20.3 GHz that is approximately 8.4 times of the cutoff frequency and the second, third or higher order harmonic response is effectively inhibited. Compared to the traditional DGS, the stopband of the spur-line DGS is broadened by 28% and, when the attenuation pole keeps the same, the occupied area of the spur-line DGS is decreased by 74%. The LPF has the property of compact, low insertion loss and wide stopband. Furthermore, the simulation results agree with practical measurement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: A full-vector semi-analytical method is presented for the analysis of a frequency selective surface consisting of patches printed on substrates having periodic inhomogeneity and both electric and magnetic anisotropy. Based on a multiconductor transmission line model for the substrate, a matrix is obtained which can be considered as the Green’s function matrix. The resulting integral equation becomes a series equation for a periodic structure. The equation can be solved by the method of moments with sub-domain rooftop basis functions and Galerkin testing functions. Several examples are analyzed using this technique. Numerical results demonstrate the effect of periodic substrates and anisotropy on the performance of the frequency selective surfaces. It is shown that using periodic substrates brings some degrees of freedom for better controlling the electromagnetic characteristics of the device. The shape of a popular split-ring defected ground structure (DGS) is modified by selecting different width of the sides with respect to microstrip line. The frequency characteristics of proposed DGS unit show an attenuation zero close to the attenuation pole frequency. The unit cell is modeled by 3rd order elliptical lowpass filter and an equivalent circuit is presented accordingly. For proposed DGS, both pole and zero frequencies are obtained at lower values compared to split-ring DGS unit with uniform width. The variation of the width of the sides, parallel to microstrip line influences pole frequency. Two DGS cells with different pole frequencies cascaded under High-Low microstrip line realize a sharp and deep bandstop filter. Three-cascaded cells underneath a highlow impedance microstrip line produce sharper and wider bandstop filter characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A wideband frequency behavior is demonstrated for a phaseless near-field technique of basically interferometric approach, which uses two identical probes interfering each other through a microstrip circuit and performing amplitude-only near-field measurements on a single scanning surface. The phase retrieval procedure is properly formulated to take into account the frequency dependence without changing neither the microstrip circuit nor the distance between the probes. The results from the experimental investigation into the double-periodic array comprising the metallic C-shaped strip line elements are presented. A measuring technique is described. A comparison is made between the measurement results and theoretical calculations.
