This study explores the potential of LDH flakes decorated with metallic oxide nanoparticles to function as both anti-corrosion barriers against chloride anions and heterogeneous photocatalysts for tetracycline degradation under visible light. The process involves modifying the primarily MgO-based inorganic porous film by growing a MgFe LDH film, followed by the individual and dual incorporation of SnO 2 and WO 3 nanoparticles. The dual incorporation of these nanoparticles into the LDH matrix leads to synergistic interactions, effectively sealing pre-existing defects within LDH flakes and facilitating the in-situ formation of catalytic sites through oxidation and the induction of surface oxygen vacancy defects, which synergistically contribute to the enhancement of both electrochemical and photocatalytic activities. The enhanced electrochemical stability is reflected in a significant reduction in corrosion current density by 4 orders of magnitude compared to unmodified porous film. Additionally, the decorated film demonstrates sustained photocatalytic functionality, achieving significant degradation (95.5%) of tetracycline within two hours. This study presents a novel approach, highlighting the dual effectiveness of LDHs decorated by dual metal oxides as an anti-corrosive agent and photocatalyst, with promising implications for environmental remediation and wastewater purification. Mechanical properties of hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels are too poor to be prepared as an ultra-thin hydrogels, so to provide a supporting skeleton for them is important. Herein, the porous film based on chitosan(CS)、PEG-20000 and graphene oxide (GO) were prepared for ultra-thin hydrogels. CS is a suitable polymer to prepare films. The added PEG-20000 endowed the film porosity. And the addition of GO improved the mechanical of the film. When CS:PEG = 3:2 and the GO solution proportion was 15%, the porous film exhibited the best comprehensive properties, with a tensile strength of 5.593 MPa, an elongation at break of 45.833%, a water permeation of 1.4099 g at 12 h, a porosity of 62.3% and an average pore size of 1.88 um. Blood compatibility experiments and cell experiments have proved that the film hydrogel has strong biocompatibility, indicating it can be a promising biomaterial. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mesoporous nanostructured titanium-dioxide (TiO 2 ) films, with high uniformity and low packing density, are synthesized in a stagnation swirl-flame setup under an applied electric field, with voltage bias on the substrate and the burner grounded. The effects of uniform external electric-field strength and polarity are studied for different substrate temperatures and precursor-loading concentrations. The results manifest considerable differences in film characteristics, for differing electric fields, with more columnar structures and higher porosities produced under low-magnitude substrate voltages up to |±400|V. Interestingly, films have higher packing density at higher magnitude voltages of |±800|V. At low substrate temperatures, the morphology and structure are more prominent owing to less on-substrate sintering of the nanoparticles. At low-magnitude substrate voltages, oppositely-charged particles are attracted to the substrate, increasing their electrophoretic velocity but decreasing their in-flame growth and agglomeration, resulting in smaller particle size. Along with van der Waals forces and induced dipole–dipole interactions, more columnar-structured growth with lower packing density results. At high-magnitude voltages, the particles seem to acquire the same charge polarity as the voltage bias applied, being repelled and residing in the flame longer, thus increasing in-flame agglomeration and particle size. Metals with well ordered porous networks exhibit interesting electronics, photonics and antimicrobial properties, but fabrication of ordered porous metal by sputtering deposition is difficult. A new method to develop arrayed nanoporous multilayered films in the Ag/W system has been reported in this work. The results show that the structure of the multilayers is dependent on the periodicity. Multilayers with periodicity not larger than 30 nm have an arrayed porous structure. The formation of the porous structure can be ascribed to the initial Volmer-Weber growth due to the large positive enthalpy of mixing Ag and W and the following shadowing effect during alternate sputtering deposition. Abstract: TiO2 and TiO2-Ag composites films were prepared by sol–gel method and coated on glass fibre roving. The surface morphology and properties of synthesized composites films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The antibacterial activity studies of TiO2 and TiO2 composite films were evaluated by photocatalytic reaction against P.aeruginosa bacteria. The results shown that pure TiO2 and TiO2 porous (TiO2-PEG) films have disinfection efficiency 57% and 93% within 15min under UV irradiation, respectively. TiO2-1Ag film has highest antibacterial effect under UV irradiation and that disinfectionefficiency is 100% within 10min. It has been found that Ag doped TiO2 films have the higher disinfection efficiency than that of pure TiO2 due to the effect of silver species. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The highly ordered porous films were fabricated from the solution of polystyrene with one carboxyl terminal group in carbon disulfur in a chamber with a water bath. It is found that the pore size can be readily controlled by changing the temperature of water bath. The pore size increases with an increase in the water-bath temperature in a given range. And the porous film from the "dilute" solution can be readily formed even at a low relative humidity (RH), while the porous film from the "concentrated" solution can be fabricated only at a rather high RH. The regularity of porous film becomes better at the higher RH and higher concentration. It suggests that there exists a synergetic effect of solution concentration and RH on the formation of porous film. The copolymerization of divinyl adipate (DVA) as an effective cross-linker with allyl acetate (AAc) as a degradative chain transfer reagent was carried out at 70 and 80 °C in benzene using dimethyl 2,2′- azobisisobutyrate (MAIB) of high concentrations as initiator. When the MAIB concentration as high as 0.60 mol/L was used, the copolymerization of DVA (0.20 mol/L) and AAc (0.50 mol/L) proceeded homogeneously without any gelation to give soluble copolymers in a yield of about 30% based on the total weight of DVA, AAc, and MAIB. The copolymer formed in the copolymerization at 80 °C for 6 h consisted of the DVA units with (3 mol %) and without (24 mol %) double bond, the AAc unit (35 mol %), and the methoxycarbonylpropyl group (38 mol %) from MAIB. Such a large fraction of the incorporated initiator-fragment as terminal group indicates that the copolymer has a hyperbranched structure. The copolymer showed an upper critical solution temperature (38°C on cooling) in a tetrahydrofuran (THF)--water [2:1 (v/v)] mixture, and also exhibited potentials in solubilization of Rhodamine 6G as a dye probe and stabilization of metal nanoparticles.
