The article examines whether there are environmental inequities in the old city of Montréal, Québec, with focus given to whether its low-income and minority residents have access to urban vegetation. The authors discuss the notion of environmental inequity with regard to urban vegetation indicators, describe their methodological approach which uses various data including satellite images and a geographic information system (SIG), and present and discuss their results. Images depicting the mapping of trees, bushes, and lawns via the earth observation satellite QuickBird and socioeconomic data from the 2006 census are examined.

The article reports on a study on the development of habitat modeling for wild rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) populations in the Mediterranean region. The study aims to create a method of diagnosis and assessment of wild rabbit habitat using habitat modeling and landscape ecology. The results describe a suitable wild rabbit habitat which includes high diversity, small proportion of shrubs, and medium number of patches. The authors say that the results can be used in managing rabbit populations.

The article explores and describes the process and history of remote sensing as it was developed in Québec and Canada beginning in the 1970s and extending to the late 1980s. The authors credit three distinct groups with the development of remote sensing. These groups are the government, private sector, and the universities in Québec. Remote sensing is said to have several applications, such as the study of the urban environment. Challenges to the use of satellite images in the study of urban landscapes are described along with methods to counter these challenges.
