1. A Jacquet-Langlands functor for $p$-adic locally analytic representations

Abstract

We study the locally analytic theory of infinite level local Shimura varieties. As a main result, we prove that in the case of a duality of local Shimura varieties, the locally analytic vectors of different period sheaves at infinite level are independent of the actions of the $p$-adic Lie groups $G$ and $G_b$ of the two towers; this generalizes a result of Pan for the Lubin-Tate and Drinfeld spaces for $GL_2$. We apply this theory to show that the $p$-adic Jacquet-Langlands functor of Scholze commutes with the passage to locally analytic vectors, and is compatible with central characters of Lie algebras. We also prove that the compactly supported de Rham cohomology of the two towers are isomorphic as smooth representations of $G\times G_b$., Comment: 41 pages, comments are welcome!

Abstract

Large-scale cell microscopy screens are used in drug discovery and molecular biology research to study the effects of millions of chemical and genetic perturbations on cells. To use these images in downstream analysis, we need models that can map each image into a feature space that represents diverse biological phenotypes consistently, in the sense that perturbations with similar biological effects have similar representations. In this work, we present the largest foundation model for cell microscopy data to date, a new 1.9 billion-parameter ViT-G/8 MAE trained on over 8 billion microscopy image crops. Compared to a previous published ViT-L/8 MAE, our new model achieves a 60% improvement in linear separability of genetic perturbations and obtains the best overall performance on whole-genome biological relationship recall and replicate consistency benchmarks. Beyond scaling, we developed two key methods that improve performance: (1) training on a curated and diverse dataset; and, (2) using biologically motivated linear probing tasks to search across each transformer block for the best candidate representation of whole-genome screens. We find that many self-supervised vision transformers, pretrained on either natural or microscopy images, yield significantly more biologically meaningful representations of microscopy images in their intermediate blocks than in their typically used final blocks. Abstract

PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) is ESA's M3 mission designed to detect and characterise extrasolar planets and perform asteroseismic monitoring of a large number of stars. PLATO will detect small planets (down to <2 R_(Earth)) around bright stars (<11 mag), including terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. With the complement of radial velocity observations from the ground, planets will be characterised for their radius, mass, and age with high accuracy (5 %, 10 %, 10 % for an Earth-Sun combination respectively). PLATO will provide us with a large-scale catalogue of well-characterised small planets up to intermediate orbital periods, relevant for a meaningful comparison to planet formation theories and to better understand planet evolution. It will make possible comparative exoplanetology to place our Solar System planets in a broader context. In parallel, PLATO will study (host) stars using asteroseismology, allowing us to determine the stellar properties with high accuracy, substantially enhancing our knowledge of stellar structure and evolution. The payload instrument consists of 26 cameras with 12cm aperture each. For at least four years, the mission will perform high-precision photometric measurements. Here we review the science objectives, present PLATO's target samples and fields, provide an overview of expected core science performance as well as a description of the instrument and the mission profile at the beginning of the serial production of the flight cameras. PLATO is scheduled for a launch date end 2026. This overview therefore provides a summary of the mission to the community in preparation of the upcoming operational phases.

Abstract

We develop the $p$-adic representation theory of $p$-adic Lie groups on solid vector spaces over a complete non-archimedean extension of $\mathbf{Q}_p$. More precisely, we define and study categories of solid, solid locally analytic and solid smooth representations. We show that the category of solid locally analytic representations of a compact $p$-adic Lie group is equivalent to that of quasi-coherent modules over its algebra of locally analytic distributions, generalizing a classical result of Schneider and Teitelbaum. For arbitrary $G$, we prove an equivalence between solid locally analytic representations and quasi-coherent sheaves over certain locally analytic classifying stack of $G$. We also extend our previous cohomological comparison results from the case of a compact group defined over $\mathbf{Q}_p$ to the case of an arbitrary group, generalizing results of Lazard and Casselman-Wigner. 6. p-adic Eichler-Shimura maps for the modular curve

Abstract

We give a new proof of Faltings's p-adic Eichler-Shimura decomposition of the modular curves via BGG methods and the Hodge-Tate period map. The key property is the relation between the Tate module and the Faltings extension, which was already used in the original proof. Then, we construct overconvergent Eichler-Shimura (ES) maps for the modular curves providing ''the second half'' of the overconvergent ES map of Andreatta-Iovita-Stevens. We use higher Coleman theory on the modular curve developed by Boxer-Pilloni to show that the small slope part of the ES maps interpolates the classical p-adic Eichler-Shimura decompositions. We use a local duality theorem at finite level to compute duals for the coherent cohomology of the integral perfectoid curve. Abstract

Haematopoiesis is the process of generation of blood cells. Lymphopoiesis generates lymphocytes, the cells in charge of the adaptive immune response. Disruptions of this process are associated with diseases like leukaemia, which is especially incident in children. The characteristics of self-regulation of this process make them suitable for a mathematical study. In this paper we develop mathematical models of lymphopoiesis using currently available data. We do this by drawing inspiration from existing structured models of cell lineage development and integrating them with paediatric bone marrow data, with special focus on regulatory mechanisms. A formal analysis of the models is carried out, giving steady states and their stability conditions. We use this analysis to obtain biologically relevant regions of the parameter space and to understand the dynamical behaviour of B-cell renovation. Finally, we use numerical simulations to obtain further insight into the influence of proliferation and maturation rates on the reconstitution of the cells in the B line. We conclude that a model including feedback regulation of cell proliferation represents a biologically plausible depiction for B-cell reconstitution in bone marrow. Abstract

The concept of shared value was introduced by Porter and Kramer as a new conception of capitalism. Shared value describes the strategy of organizations that simultaneously enhance their competitiveness and the social conditions of related stakeholders such as employees, suppliers and the natural environment. The idea has generated strong interest, but also some controversy due to a lack of a precise definition, measurement techniques and difficulties to connect theory to practice. We overcome these drawbacks by proposing an economic framework based on three key aspects: coalition formation, sustainability and consistency, meaning that conclusions can be tested by means of logical deductions and empirical applications. The presence of multiple agents to create shared value and the optimization of both social and economic criteria in decision making represent the core of our quantitative definition of shared value. We also show how economic models can be characterized as shared value models by means of logical deductions. Summarizing, our proposal builds on the foundations of shared value to improve its understanding and to facilitate the suggestion of economic hypotheses, hence accommodating the concept of shared value within modern economic theory., Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

Real-time gas classification is an essential issue and challenge in applications such as food and beverage quality control, accident prevention in industrial environments, for instance. In recent years, the Deep Learning (DL) models have shown great potential to classify and forecast data in diverse problems, even in the electronic nose (E-Nose) field. In this work, we used a Support Vector Machines (SVM) algorithm and three different DL models to validate the rapid detection approach (based on processing an early portion of raw signals and a rising window protocol) over different measurement conditions. We performed a set of trials with five different E-Nose databases that include fifteen datasets. Based on the results, we concluded that the proposed approach has a high potential, and it can be suitable to be used for E-nose technologies, reducing the necessary time for making forecasts and accelerating the response time. Because in most cases, it achieved reliable estimates using only the first 30% or fewer of measurement data (counted after the gas injection starts.) The findings suggest that the rapid detection approach generates reliable forecasting models using different classification methods. Still, SVM seems to obtain the best accuracy, right window size, and better training time., Comment: 13 pages, two figures, and two tables. Abstract

It is crucial for the wine industry to have methods like electronic nose systems (E-Noses) for real-time monitoring thresholds of acetic acid in wines, preventing its spoilage or determining its quality. In this paper, we prove that the portable and compact self-developed E-Nose, based on thin film semiconductor (SnO2) sensors and trained with an approach that uses deep Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) neural network, can perform early detection of wine spoilage thresholds in routine tasks of wine quality control. To obtain rapid and online detection, we propose a method of rising-window focused on raw data processing to find an early portion of the sensor signals with the best recognition performance. Our approach was compared with the conventional approach employed in E-Noses for gas recognition that involves feature extraction and selection techniques for preprocessing data, succeeded by a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The results evidence that is possible to classify three wine spoilage levels in 2.7 seconds after the gas injection point, implying in a methodology 63 times faster than the results obtained with the conventional approach in our experimental setup.
