We present an analysis of the lepton-flavor violating decay of the Higgs boson mediated by an ultralight gauge boson, $\chi$. Our analysis matches a model generating the lepton flavor-violating interaction $\bar{\ell}_i\ell_j\chi$ at tree level with an effective field theory, safeguarding the $\chi$-boson mass as it tends to zero. By utilizing the upper bounds on $H\to\ell_i \bar\ell_j$ decays from CMS and ATLAS Collaborations, we establish an indirect upper limit on the nonstandard decay $H\to\ell_i \bar\ell_j\chi$. The analysis encompasses various observables such as the lepton energy spectrum, Dalitz plot distribution, and Lepton Charge and Forward-Backward Asymmetries., Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures

The effects of $CP$-violation on the reported result by the LHC $\mu^{Z\gamma}=2.2\pm 0.7$ for the $H\rightarrow Z\gamma$ signal strength are studied in new physics models, where bounds on the real and absorptive parts of the $CP$-violating form factor $h_3^{Z\gamma}$ are obtained, which are found to be less than 1.02 GeV. The leading order SM contributions to the $H\rightarrow Z\gamma$ decay are also revisited, whereas contributions to the $CP$-violating form factor $h_3^{Z\gamma}$ from FCNC complex couplings mediated by the $Z$ and $H$ bosons are reported. Using the current bounds on such a couplings, where for these related to the Higgs boson are calculated to be or order $10^{-1}$. We find that the FCNC contribution to $h_3^{Z\gamma}$ with top and charm quarks in the loop is of order $10^{-6}$. A generic model with new quarks is also studied. It is found a parameter space, which agrees with the $H\rightarrow\gamma\gamma$ decay and the new $\mu^{Z\gamma}$ LHC result., Comment: Work in preparation to be submitted

Using mass-radius-composition models, small planets ($\mathrm{R}\lesssim 2 \mathrm{R_\oplus}$) are typically classified into three types: iron-rich, nominally Earth-like, and those with solid/liquid water and/or atmosphere. These classes are generally expected to be variations within a compositional continuum. Recently, however, Luque & Pall\'e observed that potentially Earth-like planets around M dwarfs are separated from a lower-density population by a density gap. Meanwhile, the results of Adibekyan et al. hint that iron-rich planets around FGK stars are also a distinct population. It therefore remains unclear whether small planets represent a continuum or multiple distinct populations. Differentiating the nature of these populations will help constrain potential formation mechanisms. We present the RhoPop software for identifying small-planet populations. RhoPop employs mixture models in a hierarchical framework and a nested sampler for parameter and evidence estimates. Using RhoPop, we confirm the two populations of Luque & Pall\'e with $>4\sigma$ significance. The intrinsic scatter in the Earth-like subpopulation is roughly half that expected based on stellar abundance variations in local FGK stars, perhaps implying M dwarfs have a smaller spread in the major rock-building elements (Fe, Mg, Si) than FGK stars. We apply RhoPop to the Adibekyan et al. sample and find no evidence of more than one population. We estimate the sample size required to resolve a population of planets with Mercury-like compositions from those with Earth-like compositions for various mass-radius precisions. Only 16 planets are needed when $\sigma_{M_p} = 5\%$ and $\sigma_{R_p} = 1\%$. At $\sigma_{M_p} = 10\%$ and $\sigma_{R_p} = 2.5\%$, however, over 154 planets are needed, an order of magnitude increase., Comment: Published in PSJ

In view of both the latest LHCb measurement of $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and the new $2.8\sigma$ deviation reported by Belle II on $B^{+}\to K^{+}\nu\bar{\nu}$ decays, we present a fit to the $B$ meson anomalies for various one and two dimensional hypothesis including complex Wilson coefficients. We show in a model-independent way that the generic non-universal $U(1)^{\prime}$ extensions of the SM, without flavour violation, fail to simultaneously fit those observables and corroborate that they can modify $\mathrm{BR}(B^{+}\to K^{+}\nu\bar{\nu})$ up to only a $10\%$. In view of this deficit, we propose a new way in which those models can accommodate the data at tree level by introducing lepton flavour violating couplings and non-diagonal elements of the charged lepton mixing matrix, with implications in future charged lepton flavour violation searches., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures, 2 tables, charged lepton flavour violating constraints added, new citations included

We perform spin-noise spectroscopy on an unpolarized $^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ vapor in the spin-exchange-relaxation-free (SERF) regime. We observe noise spectral distributions that deviate strongly from Lorentzian models that accurately describe lower-density regimes. For example, at magnetic fields of $\sim 1 \mathrm{\mu T}$ and $^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ densities $\gtrsim 1 \times 10^{14} \rm{atoms/cm^{3}}$ we observe an asymmetric spin-noise distribution in which the resonance line is depleted by about half its power, with the diverted power becoming a broad spectral component that could be mistaken for optical shot noise. The results are in good agreement with recent models accounting for correlations between the ground hyperfine states. We discuss implications for quantum sensing and absolute noise calibration in spin-squeezing and entanglement detection.

A model with fermion and scalar fields charged under a Peccei-Queen~(PQ) symmetry is proposed. The PQ charges are chosen in such a way that they can reproduce mass matrices with five texture zeros, {which can generate} the fermion masses, the CKM matrix, and the PMNS matrix of the Standard Model~(SM). To obtain this result, at least 4~Higgs doublets are needed. As we will see in the manuscript this is a highly non-trivial result since the texture zeros of the mass matrices impose a large number of restrictions. This model shows a route to understand the different scales of the SM by extending it with a multi-Higgs sector and an additional PQ symmetry. Since the PQ charges are not universal, the model presents flavor-changing neutral currents~(FCNC) at the tree level, a feature that constitutes the main source of restrictions on the parameter space. We report the allowed regions by lepton decays and compare them with those coming from the semileptonic decays $K^{\pm}\longrightarrow \pi \bar{\nu}\nu$. We also show the excluded regions and the projected bounds of future experiments for the axion-photon coupling as a function of the axion mass and compare it with the parameter space of our model., Comment: 24 pages, 2 figures

Context. Extragalactic surveys are a key tool for better understanding the evolution of galaxies. Both deep and wide-field surveys serve to provide a clearer emerging picture of the physical processes that take place in and around galaxies, and to identify which of these processes are the most important in shaping the properties of galaxies. Aims. The Lockman Spectroscopic Redshift Survey using Osiris (Lockman-SpReSO) aims to provide one of the most complete optical spectroscopic follow-ups of the far-infrared (FIR) sources detected by the \textit{Herschel} Space Observatory in the Lockman Hole (LH) field. The optical spectroscopic study of the FIR-selected galaxies supplies valuable information about the relation between fundamental FIR and optical parameters, including extinction, star formation rate, and gas metallicity. In this article, we introduce and provide an in-depth description of the Lockman-SpReSO project and of its early results. Methods. We selected FIR sources from \textit{Herschel} observations of the central 24 arcmin $\times$ 24 arcmin of the LH field with an optical counterpart up to 24.5 $R_{\rm C}$(AB). The sample comprises 956 \textit{Herschel} FIR sources, plus 188 additional interesting objects in the field. These are point X-ray sources, cataclysmic variable star candidates, high-velocity halo star candidates, radio sources, very red quasi-stellar objects, and optical counterparts of sub-millimetre galaxies. The faint component of the catalogue ($R_{\rm C}(\mathrm{AB})\geq20$) was observed using the OSIRIS instrument on the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias in multi-object spectroscopy (MOS) mode. The bright component was observed using two multi-fibre spectrographs: the AF2-WYFFOS at the William Herschel Telescope and the HYDRA instrument at the WYIN telescope., Comment: 22 pages, 12 figures

We present an extension $U(1)_{X}$ to the Standard Model that reproduces the lepton mass structures determined by the experiments. In the charged sector, we introduced effective operators of dimension $n = 7$ to generate the mass of the electron, which is null at tree-level due to the $X$ charge. In the neutral sector, we added three sterile right-handed neutrinos and three Majorana neutrinos to generate the mass structure for the left-handed neutrinos, by the inverse seesaw mechanism. The model free parameters were fitted with the known mass eigenvalues $m_{e},\,m_{\mu},\,m_{\tau}$, and with the most recent results of a global analysis of the data from neutrino oscillation. From the adjustment of the free parameters, we obtained allowed regions for the Yukawa coupling set.

We present a study of the relationships and environmental dependencies between stellar mass, star formation rate, and gas metallicity for more than 700 galaxies in groups up to redshift 0.35 from the Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey. To identify the main drivers, our sample was analyzed as a function of group-centric distance, projected galaxy number density, and stellar mass. By using control samples of more than 16000 star-forming field galaxies and volume limited samples, we find that the highest enhancement in SFR (0.3 dex) occurs in galaxies with the lowest local density. In contrast to previous work, our data show small enhancements of $\sim$0.1 dex in SFR for galaxies at the highest local densities or group-centric distances. Our data indicates quenching in SFR only for massive galaxies, suggesting that stellar mass might be the main driver of quenching processes for star forming galaxies. We can discard a morphological driven quenching, since the S\'ersic index distribution for group and control galaxies are similar. The gas metallicity does not vary drastically. It increases $\sim$0.08 dex for galaxies at the highest local densities, and decreases for galaxies at the highest group-centric distances, in agreement with previous work. Altogether, the local density, rather than group-centric distance, shows the stronger impact in enhancing both, the SFR and gas metallicity. We applied the same methodology to galaxies from the IllustrisTNG simulations, and although we were able to reproduce the general observational trends, the differences between group and control samples only partially agree with the observations, Comment: Accepted by MNRAS

Off-centered spots of the enhanced gas velocity dispersion, s, are revealed in some galaxies from the MaNGA survey. Aiming to clarify the origin of the spots of enhanced s, we examine the distributions of the surface brightness, the line-of-sight velocity, the oxygen abundance, the gas velocity dispersion, and the BPT spaxel classification in seven galaxies. We find that the enhanced s spots in six galaxies can be attributed to a (minor) interaction with a satellite. Three galaxies in our sample have a very close satellite. The spots of enhanced s in those galaxies are located at the edge of the galaxy close to the satellite. The spots of enhanced s in three other galaxies are related to bright spots in the photometric B band within the galaxy, which can be due to the projection of a satellite in the line of sight of the galaxy. The oxygen abundances in the spots in these three galaxies are reduced. This suggests that the low-metallicity gas from the satellite is mixed with the interstellar medium of the disk. The spectra of the spaxels within a spot are usually HII-region-like, suggesting that the interaction in those galaxies does not result in appreciable shocks. In contrast, the spot of the enhanced s in the galaxy M-8716-12703 is associated with an off-centered AGN-like radiation distribution. One can suggest that the spot of the enhanced s in the M-8716-12703 galaxy is different in origin, or that the characteristics of gas infall in this case differs from that in other galaxies., Comment: 25 pages, 22 figures, accepted to AA

We study the effect of optical polarization squeezing on the performance of a sensitive, quantum-noise-limited optically pumped magnetometer. We use Bell-Bloom (BB) optical pumping to excite a $^{87}$Rb vapor containing $8.2 \cdot 10^{12} \mathrm{atoms/cm^3}$ and Faraday rotation to detect spin precession. The sub-$\mathrm{pT}/\sqrt{\mathrm{Hz}}$ sensitivity is limited by spin projection noise (photon shot noise) at low (high) frequencies. Probe polarization squeezing both improves high-frequency sensitivity and increases measurement bandwidth, with no loss of sensitivity at any frequency, a direct demonstration of the evasion of measurement backaction noise. We provide a model for the quantum noise dynamics of the BB magnetometer, including spin projection noise, probe polarization noise, and measurement backaction effects. The theory shows how polarization squeezing reduces optical noise, while measurement backaction due to the accompanying ellipticity anti-squeezing is shunted into the unmeasured spin component. The method is compatible with high-density and multi-pass techniques that reach extreme sensitivity., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures

We study a non-universal $U(1)_{X}$ extension of the Standard Model with an extended scalar sector of two doublets and one singlet plus three additional exotic quarks and two exotic charged leptons on the fermionic sector. In order to obtain the observed fermion mass hierarchy, an additional $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ discrete symmetry is imposed, where the heaviest fermions acquire their masses from three different scales determined by two Higgs doublets and one singlet, whereas the lightest fermions obtain their masses from effective operators up to dimension seven. From chiral anomalies cancellation, the model also includes heavy right-handed neutrinos which get massive via an inverse see-saw mechanism, reproducing the observed mass differences for the active neutrinos. We analyze phenomenological consequences of the model in view of the so-called flavour anomalies, namely the latest measurement made by Fermilab of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $g-2$, and additionally, the fit to semi-leptonic $B$ meson decays made by different flavour groups, dominated mainly by the LHCb 2020 data. We obtain that the model can explain the former at the $1\sigma$ level by means of contributions coming from charged $W^{+}$ bosons interacting with exotic Majorana neutrinos at one-loop level, with the $Z'$ boson contribution itself coming from the $U(1)_X$ symmetry being negligible. However, we find that the model is able to accommodate the $b\to s\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ transitions associated to the $B$ meson anomalies only at the $2\sigma$ level via tree-level $Z'$ boson exchange, while simultaneously respecting various constraints from the recent $R_{K^{(*)}}$ measurements made by the LHCb, neutrino trident production and $B-\bar B$ oscillations., Comment: 28 pages, 13 figures, 5 tables. We consider the Lorentz-violating extended QED involving all nonminimal dimension-5 additive CPT-odd terms. For this theory, we investigate the possibility of generating the Carroll-Field-Jackiw (CFJ) term of the first order in any of these nonminimal couplings. This term is demonstrated to vanish in certain regularization schemes. A non-universal anomaly free $U(1)_{X}$ extension to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, consisting of four scalar doublets, four scalar singlets and additional quark and lepton singlets including right-handed and Majorana neutrinos, is used to determine the contributions to the electron and muon Electric Dipole Moment. The additional CP violation sources come from the lepton sector, where neutrino masses are explained by an Inverse Seesaw Mechanism and the CP violating phase of the PMNS matrix generates complex interactions that involves exotic neutrino and sneutrino mass eigenstates. Such contributions are studied at one and two-loop level by considering the associated Barr-Zee diagrams and their supersymmetric counterpart. At one-loop level, it is found that the Electric Dipole Moment fixes a relationship between chargino and sneutrino masses depending on which particles have a mass bellow $10^{6}$ GeV. At two loop level, contributions are comparable to the one-loop contributions but the integrals diverge in some cases, yielding additional restrictions such as no degenerate sneutrino masses and they should be heavier than chargino masses., Comment: 32 pages, 10 figures, 2 tables

A non-universal $U(1)_{X}$ extension to the Standard Model composed of two scalar doublets and two scalar singlets together with three additional quark singlets and two lepton singlets and three generations of right-handed and Majorana neutrinos is made to explain lepton mass hierarchy, neutrino masses via inverse seesaw mechanism and muon anomalous magnetic moment in an anomaly free framework. In the present model, exotic and Standard Model particles acquire mass thanks to vacuum expectation values at different scales, yet the electron and the lightest neutrino are tree level massless but massive at one-loop level. By considering a numerical exploration and under the constraint of the Higgs mass, neutrino mass differences and PMNS matrix, it is found that only contributions due to exotic neutrinos interacting with charged scalars are relevant to muon $g-2$, though they are negative. Thus, the SUSY extension is considered and it is found that muon $g-2$ can be explained by allowing $U(1)_{X}$ vacuum expectation values to lie in the TeV scale thanks to SUSY soft-breaking interactions for at least $\sim 10^{5}$ GeV masses. Thus, the contribution due to exotic neutrinos interacting with $W$ gauge bosons is positive and no longer negligible which added to all other contributions might explain the anomaly., Comment: 42 pages, 26 figures, 3 tables

An anomaly free non-universal $U(1)_{X}$ extension to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model is proposed, where additional two $SU(2)$ doublet superfields and four singlet superfields complement the scalar sector of the model. The fermion sector is extended by considering additional superfields containing three quark singlets, two charged lepton singlet superfields and six neutral leptons. A tree-level massless electron is found so radiative corrections are considered to match the mass spectrum with both SUSY and non-SUSY contributions. Likewise, a massless neutrino is found and analytic expressions for massive mass eigenstates are obtained via inverse-seesaw mechanism, which implies a known neutrino mass spectrum for both normal and inverse ordering. A Peccei-Quinn~(PQ) symmetry is proposed in order to generate in the Standard Model~(SM) quark sector a realistic mass matrix ansatz with five texture-zeros. Limiting our analysis to Hermitian mass matrices, we show that this requires a minimum of 4 Higgs doublets. This model allows assigning values close to 1 for several Yukawa couplings, giving insight into the origin of the mass scales in the SM. Since the PQ charges are non-universal, the model features Flavor-Changing Neutral Currents~(FCNC) at the tree level. We study the $z=3$ Horava-Lifshitz QED with a CPT-breaking term, characterized by the axial vector $b_{\mu}$, and perform the one-loop calculations. The intermediate-mass pre-main sequence Herbig Ae/Be stars are key to understanding the differences in formation mechanisms between low- and high-mass stars. The study of the general properties of these objects is hampered by the fact that few and mostly serendipitously discovered sources are known. Our goal is to identify new Herbig Ae/Be candidates to create a homogeneous and well defined catalogue of these objects. We have applied machine learning techniques to 4,150,983 sources with data from Gaia DR2, 2MASS, WISE, and IPHAS or VPHAS+. Several observables were chosen to identify new Herbig Ae/Be candidates based on our current knowledge of this class, which is characterised by infrared excesses, photometric variabilities, and H$\alpha$ emission lines. Classical techniques are not efficient for identifying new Herbig Ae/Be stars mainly because of their similarity with classical Be stars, with which they share many characteristics. By focusing on disentangling these two types of objects, our algorithm has also identified new classical Be stars. We have obtained a large catalogue of 8470 new pre-main sequence candidates and another catalogue of 693 new classical Be candidates with a completeness of $78.8\pm1.4\%$ and $85.5\pm1.2\%$, respectively. Of the catalogue of pre-main sequence candidates, at least 1361 sources are potentially new Herbig Ae/Be candidates according to their position in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. In this study we present the methodology used, evaluate the quality of the catalogues, and perform an analysis of their flaws and biases. For this assessment, we make use of observables that have not been accounted for by the algorithm and hence are selection-independent, such as coordinates and parallax based distances. We propose a non-universal $\mathrm{U}(1)_{X}$ gauge extension to the Standard Model (SM) and an additional Peccei-Quinn (PQ) global symmetry to study the mass hierarchy and strong CP problem. The scheme allows us to distinguish among fermion families and to generate the fermionic mass spectrum of particles of the SM. The symmetry breaking is performed by two scalar Higgs doublets and two scalar Higgs singlets, where one of these has the axion which turns out to be a candidate for Cold Dark Matter. The exotic sector is composed by one up-like $T$ and two down-like $J^{1,2}$ heavy quarks, two heavy charged leptons $E,\mathcal{E}$, one additional right-handed neutrino per family $\nu_{R}^{e,\mu,\tau}$, and an invisible axion $a$. In addition, the large energy scale associated to the breaking of the PQ-symmetry gives masses to the right-handed neutrinos in such a way that the active neutrinos acquire eV-mass values due to the see-saw mechanism. On the other hand, from the non-linear effective Lagrangian, the flavour changing of the down quarks and charged leptons with the axion are considered.

We propose a non-universal $U(1)_{X}$ extension to the Standard Model with three families and an additional global anomala Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry. The breaking of the former allows us to give masses to the exotic fermionic sector and the later generates the necessary zeros in the mass matrices to explain the fermionic mass hierarchy. In addition, the large energy scale associated with the spontaneously breaking (SSB) of the PQ symmetry provides a solution to the strong CP-problem and an axion that could be a possible dark matter candidate. We propose a supersymmetric extension of the anomaly-free and three families nonuniversal $U(1)$ model, with the inclusion of four Higgs doublets and four Higgs singlets. The quark sector is extended by adding three exotic quark singlets, while the lepton sector includes two exotic charged lepton singlets, three right-handed neutrinos and three sterile Majorana neutrinos to obtain the fermionic mass spectrum. By implementing an additional $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry, the Yukawa coupling terms are suited in such a way that the fermion mass hierarchy is obtained without fine-tuning. The effective mass matrix for SM neutrinos is fitted to current neutrino oscillation data to check the consistency of the model with experimental evidence, obtaining that the normal-ordering scheme is preferred over the inverse ones. The electron and up, down and strange quarks are massless at tree level, but they get masses through radiative correction at one loop level coming from the sleptons and Higgsinos contributions. We study Dark Matter (DM) abundance in the framework of the extension of the Standard Model (SM) with an additional $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry. One complex singlet is included to break the $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry, meanwhile one of the doublets is considered inert to introduce a DM candidate. The stability of the DM candidate is analyzed with a continuous $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry as well as discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. We find allowed regions for the free model parameters which are in agreement with the most up-to-date experimental results reported by CMS and ATLAS collaborations, the upper limit on WIMP-nucleon cross section imposed by XENON1T collaboration and the upper limit on the production cross-section of a $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson times the branching ratio of the $Z^{\prime}$ boson decaying into $\ell^-\ell^+$. We also obtain allowed regions for the DM candidate mass from the relic density reported by the PLANCK collaboration including light, intermediate and heavy masses; depending mainly on two parameters of the scalar potential, $\lambda_{2x}$ and $\lambda_{345}=\lambda_3+\lambda_4+2\lambda_5$. We find that trough $pp\rightarrow \chi\chi \gamma$ production, it may only be possible for a future hadron-hadron Circular Collider (FCC-hh) to be able to detect a DM candidate within the range of masses 10-60 GeV., Comment: Accepted version to be published in EPJC, typos corrected, cites added

The evolution of the meteorite flux to the Earth can be studied by determining the terrestrial ages of meteorite collected in hot deserts. We have measured the terrestrial ages of 54 stony meteorites from the El M\'edano area, in the Atacama Desert, using the cosmogenic nuclide chlorine 36. With an average age of 710 ka, this collection is the oldest collection of non fossil meteorites at the Earth's surface. This allows both determining the average meteorite flux intensity over the last 2 Myr (222 meteorites larger than 10 g per km2 per Myr) and discussing its possible compositional variability over the Quaternary period. In order to understand some frameworks for CP Violation scenarios in the scalar sector, a 331 model was considered which its main property is the incorporation of a local group symmetry SU(3) in the electroweak sector. In particular, a 331 model with a particular choice of free parameter. CP Violation scenarios were obtained by introducing a discrete symmetry in the scalar triplets, which exhibit a spontaneous CP Violation frame with just one independent CP phase associated. Mass state rotations were obtained.

We propose a supersymmetric extension of the anomaly-free and three families nonuniversal $U(1)$ model, with the inclusion of four Higgs doublets and four Higgs singlets. The quark sector is extended by adding three exotic quark singlets, while the lepton sector includes two exotic charged lepton singlets, three right-handed neutrinos and three sterile Majorana neutrinos to obtain the fermionic mass spectrum. By implementing an additional $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry, the Yukawa coupling terms are suited in such a way that the fermion mass hierarchy is obtained without fine-tuning. The effective mass matrix for SM neutrinos is fitted to current neutrino oscillation data to check the consistency of the model with experimental evidence, obtaining that the normal-ordering scheme is preferred over the inverse ones. The electron and up, down and strange quarks are massless at tree level, but they get masses through radiative correction at one loop level coming from the sleptons and Higgsinos contributions. In the extension of the standard model with one right-handed neutrino and one Higgs triplet, we propose a suppression mechanism, obtaining small masses for the active neutrinos, while mixing angles are predicted with a right-handed neutrino at the TeV scale and Yukawa couplings at the order of $\mathcal{O}(1)$. In this extension, the seesaw formula is proportional to the difference between two Yukawa couplings: the one that governs the interactions of the ordinary matter through the Higgs triplet, and the coupling of the new neutrino through the scalar doublet, so that by aligning both Yukawa couplings, exact zero-mass active neutrinos are obtained. By perturbating this alignment condition, we obtain neutrino masses proportional to the magnitude and direction of the perturbation in the flavour space. We use Gaia Data Release 2 (DR2) to place 252 Herbig Ae/Be stars in the HR diagram and investigate their characteristics and properties. For all known Herbig Ae/Be stars with parallaxes in Gaia DR2, we collected their atmospheric parameters and photometric and extinction values from the literature. To these data we added near- and mid-infrared photometry, collected H$\alpha$ equivalent widths and line profiles, and their binarity status. In addition, we developed a photometric variability indicator from Gaia's DR2 information. We provide masses, ages, luminosities, distances, variabilities and infrared excesses homogeneously derived for the most complete sample of Herbig Ae/Be stars to date. We find that high mass stars have a much smaller infrared excess and have much lower optical variabilities compared to lower mass stars, with the break at around 7M$_{\odot}$. H$\alpha$ emission is generally correlated with infrared excess, with the correlation being stronger for infrared emission at wavelengths tracing the hot dust closest to the star. The variability indicator as developed by us shows that $\sim$25% of all Herbig Ae/Be stars are strongly variable. We observe that the strongly variable objects display doubly peaked H$\alpha$ line profiles, indicating an edge-on disk. The fraction of strongly variable Herbig Ae stars is close to that found for A-type UX Ori stars. It had been suggested that this variability is in most cases due to asymmetric dusty disk structures seen edge-on. The observation here is in strong support of this hypothesis. Finally, the difference in dust properties occurs at 7M$_{\odot}$, while various properties traced at UV/optical wavelengths differ at 3M$_{\odot}$. The latter has been linked to different accretion mechanisms at work whereas the differing infrared properties and variabilities are related to different (dust-)disk dispersal mechanisms., Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures. The future 5G transport networks are envisioned to support a variety of vertical services through network slicing and efficient orchestration over multiple administrative domains. In this paper, we propose an orchestrator architecture to support vertical services to meet their diverse resource and service requirements. We then present a system model for resource orchestration of transport networks as well as low-complexity algorithms that aim at minimizing service deployment cost and/or service latency. Importantly, the proposed model can work with any level of abstractions exposed by the underlying network or the federated domains depending on their representation of resources.

We review the parameter regions allowed by measurements of $\mathcal{R}(D^{(*)})$ and by a theoretical limit on ${\cal B}(B_{c}\to\tau\nu)$ in terms of generic scalar and pseudoscalar new physics couplings, $g_s$ and $g_p$. We then use these regions as constraints to predict the ranges for additional observables in $b\to c\tau\nu$ including the differential decay distributions $d\Gamma/dq^{2}$; the ratios $\mathcal{R}(J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{R}(\Lambda_{c})$; and the tau-lepton polarisation in $B\to D^{(\star)}\tau\nu$, with emphasis on the CP violating normal polarisation. Finally we map the allowed regions in $g_s$ and $g_p$ into the parameters of four versions of the Yukawa couplings of the general 2HDM-III model. Controlled branching processes are stochastic growth population models in which the number of individuals with reproductive capacity in each generation is controlled by a random control function. The purpose of this work is to examine the Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC) methods and to propose appropriate summary statistics for them in the context of these processes. This methodology enables to approximate the posterior distribution of the parameters of interest satisfactorily without explicit likelihood calculations and under a minimal set of assumptions. In particular, the tolerance rejection algorithm, the sequential Monte Carlo ABC algorithm, and a post-sampling correction method based on local-linear regression are provided. The accuracy of the proposed methods are illustrated and compared with a "likelihood free" Markov chain Monte Carlo technique by the way of a simulated example developed with the statistical software R.

We propose a new $\mathrm{SU}(3)_C \otimes \mathrm{SU}(2)_{L}\otimes \mathrm{U}(1)_{Y}\otimes \mathrm{U}(1)_{X}$ gauge model which is non universal respect to the three fermion families of the Standard Model. We introduce additional one top-like quark, two bottom-like quarks and three right handed neutrinos in order to have an anomaly free theory. We also consider additional three right handed neutrinos which are singlets respect to the gauge symmetry of the model to implement see saw mechanism and give masses to the light neutrinos according to the neutrino oscillation phenomenology. In the context of this horizontal gauge symmetry we find mass ansatz for leptons and quarks. A nonuniversal abelian extension $\mathrm{U(1)}_{X}$ free from chiral anomalies is introduced into the Standard Model (SM), in order to evaluate its suitability in addressing the fermion mass hierarchy (FMH) by using seesaw mechanisms (SSM). In order to break the electroweak symmetry, three Higgs doublets are introduced, which give mass at tree-level to the top and bottom quarks, and the muon lepton. With an electroweak singlet scalar field, the $U(1)_{X}$ symmetry is broken and the exotic particles acquire masses. The light particles in the SM obtain their masses via SSM and Yukawa couplings differences. Active neutrino masses are generated through inverse seesaw mechanisms (ISM). Additionally, the algebraic expressions for the mixing angles for quarks and leptons are also shown in the article. We propose an extension of the standard model with an extra U(1)' abelian symmetry, three Higgs doublets and one Higgs singlet, where the new U(1)' charges are flavour non-universal. As a result, the model introduces an enlarger particle spectrum in the TeV scale with large new physics possibilities. The model reproduces the mixing angles and mass structures of the quarks, charged and neutral leptons. The seesaw mechanism is the preferred methodology to obtain light neutrino masses by the introduction of a Majorana mass matrix. Moreover, radiative corrections can be done in order to improve the predictions of the model. However, when such a Majorana mass has no inverse, radiative corrections turn out as the only mechanism to get massive neutrinos. In this letter, it is shown a nonuniversal abelian extension $\mathrm{U(1)}_{X}$ of the Standard Model in which neutrinos acquire masses completely by radiative corrections through one-loop self-energies involving heavier right-handed neutrinos. Moreover, one right-handed neutrino also gets mass through radiative corrections involving Majorana fermions. A new non-universal abelian extension $\mathrm{G_{SM}}\otimes \mathrm{U(1)}_{X}$ to the Standard Model free from chiral anomalies is presented. The flavor problem, neutrino physics and the fermion mass hierarchy are important motivations to extend the Standard Model into the TeV scale. A new family non-universal extension is presented with three Higgs doublets, one Higgs singlet and one scalar dark matter candidate. Exotic fermions are included in order to cancel chiral anomalies and to allow family non-universal $\mathrm{U(1)}_{X}$ charges. We describe a Horava-Lifshitz-like reformulated four-fermion Gross-Neveu model describing the dynamics of two-component spinors in (2+1)-dimensional space-time. Within our study, we introduce the Lagrange multiplier, study the gap equation (including the finite temperature case) which turns out to display essentially distinct behaviors for even and odd values of the critical exponent z, and show that the dynamical parity breaking occurs only for the odd z. We demonstrate that for any odd z, there exists a critical temperature at which the dynamical parity breaking disappears. Besides of this, we obtain the effective propagator and show that the resulting effective theory is renormalizable within the framework of the 1/N expansion for all values of z. We propose a new anomaly-free and family nonuniversal $\mathrm{U}(1)'$ extension of the standard model with the addition of two scalar singlets and a new scalar doublet. The quark sector is extended by adding three exotic quark singlets, while the lepton sector includes two exotic charged lepton singlets, three right-handed neutrinos and three sterile Majorana leptons to obtain the fermionic mass spectrum of the standard model. The lepton sector also reproduces the elements of the PMNS matrix and the squared-mass differences data from neutrino oscillation experiments. Also, analytical relations of the PMNS matrix are derived via the inverse see-saw mechanism, and numerical predictions of the parameters in both normal and inverse order scheme for the mass of the phenomenological neutrinos are obtained. We compute the right top quark coupling in the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model. In the Standard Model the real part of this coupling is dominated by QCD-gluon-exchange diagram, but the imaginary part, instead, is purely electroweak at one loop. Within this model we show that values for the imaginary part of the coupling up to one order of magnitude larger than the electroweak prediction can be obtained. For the real part of the electroweak contribution we find that it can be up to three orders of magnitude larger than the standard model one. We also present detailed results of the one loop analytical computation.

We have recently suggested that gas accretion can be studied using host galaxies of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We obtained the first ever far-infrared (FIR) line observations of a GRB host, namely Herschel/PACS resolved [CII] 158 um and [OI] 63 um spectroscopy, as well as APEX CO(2-1) and ALMA CO(1-0) observations of the GRB 980425 host. It has elevated [CII]/FIR and [OI]/FIR ratios and higher values of star formation rate (SFR) derived from line ([CII], [OI], Ha) than from continuum (UV, IR, radio) indicators. [CII] emission exhibits a normal morphology, peaking at the galaxy center, whereas [OI] is concentrated close to the GRB position and the nearby Wolf-Rayet region. The high [OI] flux indicates high radiation field and gas density. The [CII]/CO luminosity ratio of the GRB 980425 host is close to the highest values found for local star-forming galaxies. Its CO-derived molecular gas mass is low given its SFR and metallicity, but the [CII]-derived molecular gas mass is close to the expected value. The [OI] and HI concentrations, and the high radiation field and density are consistent with the hypothesis of a very recent (at most a few tens of Myr ago) inflow of atomic gas triggering star formation. Dust has not had time to build up (explaining high line-to-continuum ratios). Such a recent enhancement of star-formation would indeed manifest itself in high SFR_line/SFR_continuum ratios, because the line indicators are sensitive only to recent (<10 Myr) activity, whereas the continuum indicators measure the SFR averaged over much longer periods (~100 Myr). Other GRB hosts exhibit a mean SFR_line/SFR_continuum of 1.74+-0.32. This is consistent with a very recent enhancement of star formation being common among GRB hosts, so galaxies which have recently experienced inflow of gas may preferentially host stars exploding as GRBs. We analyze the recent diphoton signal reported by ATLAS and CMS collaborations in the context of the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ anomaly free models, with a 750 GeV scalar candidate which can decay into two photons. These models may explain the 750GeV signal by means of one loop decays to $\gamma\gamma$ through charged vector and Higgs bosons, as well as top-, bottom- and electron-like exotic particles that arise naturally from the condition of anomaly cancellations of the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ models., Comment: 7 Figures added, minor changes

Microvariability (intra-night variability) is a low amplitude flux change at short time scales (i.e. hours). It has been detected in unobscured type 1 AGNs and blazars. However in type 2 AGNs, the detection is hampered by the low contrast between the presumably variable nucleus and the host galaxy. In this paper, we present a search for microvariability in a sample of four type 2 quasars as an astrostatistical problem. We are exploring the use of a newly introduced enhanced F-test, proposed by de Diego 2014. The presented results show that out of our four observed targets, we were able to apply this statistical method to three of them. Evidence of microvariations is clear in the case of quasar J0802+2552 in all used filters (g',r' and i') during both observing nights, the microvariations are present in one of the nights of observations of J1258+5239 in one filter (i'), while for the J1316+4452, there is evidence for microvariability within our detection levels during one night and two filters (r' and i'). We demonstrate the feasibility of the enhanced F-test to detect microvariability in obscured type 2 quasars. At the end of this paper, we discuss possible causes of microvariability. One of the options is the misclassification of the targets. A likely scenario for explanation of the phenomenon involves optically thin gaps in a clumpy obscuring medium, in accordance with the present view of the circumnuclear region. The study of the evolution of the morphological distribution of galaxies in different environments can provide important information about the effects of the environment and the physical mechanisms responsible for the morphological transformations. As part of a complete analysis of the young cluster RXJ1257+4738 at z$\sim$0.9, we studied in this work the morphological properties of its galaxies. We used non-parametric methods of morphological classification, as implemented in the galSVM code. The classification with the applied method was possible even using ground-based observations: r'-band imaging from OSIRIS/GTC. We defined very conservative probability limits, taking into account the probability errors, in order to obtain a trustworthy classification. In this way we were able to classify about the 30% of all cluster members, and to separate between LT and ET galaxies. Additionally, when analysing the colour-magnitude diagram, we observed a significant population of blue ET galaxies between the classified ones. We discussed possible explanations for the finding of this population. Moreover, we studied different physical properties of LT, ET, and blue ET galaxies. They turn out to be comparable, with the exception of the stellar mass that shows that the red ET population is more massive. We also analysed the morphology-density and morphology-radius relations, observing that, only when considering the morphological separation between ET and LT galaxies, a mild classical behaviour is obtained. RXJ1257+4738 is a young galaxy cluster, showing a clumpy structure and being still in the process of formation, which could explain the lack of some of the standard morphological relations. This makes this cluster a very attractive case for obtaining the higher resolution data and for studying in more details the morphological properties of the entire cluster and relation with the environment., Comment: 19 pages, 20 figures. We propose a new $SU(6)\otimes U(1)_{X}$ GUT model free from anomalies, with a 750 GeV scalar candidate which can decay into two photons, compatible with the recent diphoton signal reported by ATLAS and CMS collaborations. This model gives masses to all fermions and may explain the 750GeV signal through one loop decays to $\gamma\gamma$ with charged vector and charged Higgs bosons, as well as up- and electron-like exotic particles that arise naturally from the condition of cancellation of anomalies of the $SU(6)\otimes U(1)_{X}$ group. In the context of a nonuniversal and anomaly free $U(1)_{X}$ extension of the standard model, we examine the decay of a $750$GeV scalar singlet state, $\xi_{\chi}$, as a possible explanation of the observed diphoton excess announced by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at CERN-LHC collider. One-loop decay to photons is allowed through three heavy singlet quarks and one charged Higgs boson into the loop. We obtain, for different width approximations and for masses of the exotic singlet quarks in the region $[900,\,3000]$ GeV, a production cross section $\sigma(pp\to\xi_{\chi}\to\gamma\gamma)$ compatible with ATLAS and CMS collaborations data. We also include another scalar singlet, $\sigma$, as a dark matter candidate that may couple with the 750 GeV scalar at tree level with production cross sections in agreement with ATLAS and CMS., Comment: 5 figures, discussion extended, 2 new figures

We explore mechanisms of interferences under which the spin-independent interaction in the scattering of scalar dark matter with nucleus is suppressed. We offer a detailed derivation of the nuclear amplitudes based on the interactions with quarks in the framework of a nonuniversal $U(1)'$ extension of the standard model. By assuming a range of parameters compatible with collider searches, electroweak observables and dark matter abundance, we find scenarios for destructive interferences with and without isospin symmetry. The model reveals solutions with mutually interfering scalar particles, canceling the effective spin-independent coupling with only scalar interactions, which requires an extra Higgs boson with mass $M_{H}>125$ GeV. The model also possesses scenarios with only vector interactions through two neutral gauge bosons, $Z$ and $Z'$. Due to the nonuniversality of the $U(1)'$ symmetry, we distinguish two family structures of the quark sector with different numerical predictions. In one case, we obtain cross sections that pass all the Xenon-based detector experiments. In the other case, limits from LUX experiment enclose an exclusion region for dark matter between $9$ and $800$ GeV. We examine a third scenario with isospin-violating couplings where interferences between scalar and vector boson exchanges cancel the scattering. We provide solutions where interactions with Xenon-based detectors is suppressed for light dark matter, below $6$ GeV, while interactions with Germanium- and Silicon-based detectors exhibit solutions up to the regions of interest for positive signals reported by CoGeNT and CDMS-Si experiments, and compatible with the observed DM relic density for DM mass in the range $8.3-10$ GeV. We present a model based on the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge symmetry having an extra $T_{7}\otimes Z_{2}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{14} $ flavor group, which successfully describes the observed SM fermion mass and mixing pattern. In this framework, the light active neutrino masses arise via double seesaw mechanism and the observed charged fermion mass and quark mixing hierarchy is a consequence of the $Z_{2}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{14}$ symmetry breaking at very high energy. In our minimal $T_{7}$ flavor 331 model, the spectrum of neutrinos includes very light active neutrinos as well as heavy and very heavy sterile neutrinos. The obtained physical observables for both quark and lepton sectors are compatible with their experimental values. We provide a concise overview on transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions, their application to topical issues in high-energy physics phenomenology, and their theoretical connections with QCD resummation, evolution and factorization theorems. We illustrate the use of TMDs via examples of multi-scale problems in hadronic collisions. These include transverse momentum q_T spectra of Higgs and vector bosons for low q_T, and azimuthal correlations in the production of multiple jets associated with heavy bosons at large jet masses. We discuss computational tools for TMDs, and present an application of a new tool, TMDlib, to parton density fits and parameterizations., Comment: 20 pages
