It is essential to examine the physical or chemical properties of molecular gas in starburst galaxies to reveal the underlying mechanisms characterizing starbursts. We used non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) to extract individual molecular or physical components involved in the star formation process in NGC\,253. We used images of 148 transitions from 44 different species of the ALMA large program ALCHEMI. Additionally, we included the continuum images at ALMA Bands 3 and 7 from the same dataset. For the five NMF components (NF1--5), we obtained that their distributions correspond to various basic phenomena related to star formation: i) low-density gas extended through the galactic central molecular zone (NF2), ii) shocks (NF3), iii) starburst regions (NF4), and iv) young star-forming regions (NF5). The other component (NF1) is related to excitation; three components obtained by NMF (NF3, 1, and 5) show a strong dependence upon the upper state energies of transitions, and represent low-, intermediate-, and high-excitation, respectively. We also compared our results using principal component analysis (PCA) previously applied to the same dataset. Molecular components extracted from NMF are similar to the ones obtained from PCA. However, NMF is better at extracting components associated with a single physical component, while a single component in PCA usually contains information on multiple physical components. This is especially true for features with weak intensities like emission from outflows. This paper introduces Slipstream, a Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) protocol where nodes concurrently propose blocks to be added to a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) and aim to agree on block ordering. Slipstream offers two types of block orderings: an optimistic ordering, which is live and secure in a sleepy model under up to 50% Byzantine nodes, and a final ordering, which is a prefix of the optimistic ordering and ensures safety and liveness in an eventual lock-step synchronous model under up to 33% Byzantine nodes. Additionally, Slipstream integrates a payment system that allows for fast UTXO transaction confirmation independently of block ordering. Transactions are confirmed in three rounds during synchrony, and unconfirmed double spends are resolved in a novel way using the DAG structure., Comment: 43 pages, 3 tables, 5 figures

Centers of starburst galaxies may be characterized by a specific gas and ice chemistry due to their gas dynamics and the presence of various ice desorption mechanisms. This may result in a peculiar observable composition. We analyze abundances of $CO_2$, a reliable tracer of ice chemistry, from data collected as part of the ALMA large program ALCHEMI, a wide-frequency spectral scan toward the starburst galaxy NGC~253 with an angular resolution of 1.6$''$. We constrain the $CO_2$ abundances in the gas phase using its protonated form $HOCO^+$. The distribution of $HOCO^+$ is similar to that of methanol, which suggests that $HOCO^+$ is indeed produced from the protonation of $CO_2$ sublimated from ice. The $HOCO^+$ fractional abundances are found to be $(1-2)\times10^{-9}$ at the outer part of the central molecular zone (CMZ), while they are lower ($\sim10^{-10}$) near the kinematic center. This peak fractional abundance at the outer CMZ is comparable to that in the Milky Way CMZ, and orders of magnitude higher than that in Galactic disk star-forming regions. From the range of $HOCO^+/CO_2$ ratios suggested from chemical models, the gas-phase $CO_2$ fractional abundance is estimated to be $(1-20)\times10^{-7}$ at the outer CMZ, and orders of magnitude lower near the center. We estimate the $CO_2$ ice fractional abundances at the outer CMZ to be $(2-5)\times10^{-6}$ from the literature. A comparison between the ice and gas $CO_2$ abundances suggests an efficient sublimation mechanism. A spider consists of several, say $N$, particles. Particles can jump independently according to a random walk if the movement does not violate some given restriction rules. If the movement violates a rule it is not carried out. We consider random walk in random environment (RWRE) on $\Z$ as underlying random walk. We suppose the environment $\omega=(\omega_x)_{x \in \Z}$ to be elliptic, with positive drift and nestling, so that there exists a unique positive constant $\kappa$ such that $\E[((1-\omega_0)/\omega_0)^{\kappa}]=1$. The restriction rules are kept very general; we only assume transitivity and irreducibility of the spider. The main result is that the speed of a spider is positive if $\kappa/N>1$ and null if $\kappa/N<1$. We address the quantum-classical correspondence for chaotic systems with a crossover between symmetry classes. We consider the energy level statistics of a classically chaotic system in a weak magnetic field. The generating function of spectral correlations is calculated by using the semiclassical periodic-orbit theory. An explicit calculation up to the second order, including the non-oscillatory and oscillatory terms, agrees with the prediction of random matrix theory. Formal expressions of the higher order terms are also presented. The nonlinear sigma (NLS) model of random matrix theory, in the variant of the Bosonic replica trick, is also analyzed for the crossover between the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble and Gaussian unitary ensemble.
