Chameleon dark energy models are a popular alternative to the standard cosmological constant model. These models consist of a new light degree of freedom, called chameleon, with a density dependent mass and a non-trivial coupling to both matter and photons. Owing to these couplings, chameleons can be produced inside the sun. However due to their density dependent mass, the chameleons produced in the solar core are screened and cannot escape whereas those produced outside the solar core, such as in the \textit{tachocline} region with energies of the order of few a keV, can escape from the sun and travel all the way towards Earth. Hence the Earth is expected to receive a flux of \textit{solar chameleons}. In this work we propose a \textit{light shining through wall} (LSW) type of experiment in which the Earth itself acts as a wall. Both photons and chameleons are incident on the light side of the Earth. While all the photons are stopped by the Earth, only a fraction of the chameleons are stopped by the earth due to screening. Those chameleons which are not screened by the earth pass directly through the Earth and exit the night side. Here these chameleons interact with the geomagnetic field and convert into X-ray photons. A space based X-ray telescope orbiting the Earth can detect these X-ray photons, while passing through the night side, thereby acting as a detector in this LSW type experiment. The present study aims to unveil a scenario with a non-minimal secluded dark sector (DS) in an effective field theory (EFT) framework. To explore this, we have examined a suitable extension of the type-X Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) as a potential origin for the secluded DS. The DS comprises a dark matter (DM) candidate and a mediator particle `$a$' and possesses some non-minimal characteristics. It becomes non-thermally populated through diverse dim-6 four-Fermi operators, effectively generated by integrating out the heavier Higgs particles. The analysis further focuses on the consequences of the collision processes $\textit{DM}+ a \leftrightarrow a + a$ and $\textit{DM}+ \textit{DM} \leftrightarrow a + a$ occurring within the DS. We have investigated the significance of employing an EFT approach in tracking the temperature evolution of the DS. Within the present framework, the observed relic abundance of the DM can be realized through both dark freeze-out and freeze-in mechanisms. Further, we have delineated the permissible ranges of the relevant parameters, viz., the DM mass ($m_\chi \gtrsim 20 \, \text{GeV}$), the portal coupling ($C_\tau \lesssim 10^{-14}\, \text{GeV}^{-2}$), and the DS coupling ($\lambda \lesssim 10^{-6} \,\text{GeV}^{-2}$) by taking into account the perturbativity of the involved couplings while reproducing the observed DM relic and complying with the bounds from a successful Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) and $\gamma$-ray searches., Comment: 30 pages, LaTeX, 7 figures, 3 tables, Significant changes in the text. In this study, we examine the phenomenon of photon axion conversion occurring in the spacetime surrounding a black hole. Specifically, we focus on the potential existence of a magnetic field around the supermassive black hole M87*, which could facilitate the conversion of photons into axions in close proximity to the photon sphere. While photons traverse through the curved spacetime, they spend time near the photon sphere, where conversion of these photons into axions takes place. Consequently, this process leads to a decrease in the intensity of the black hole's photon ring. To explore the possibilities of detecting these hypothetical axion particles, we propose observing the photon sphere using higher resolution telescopes. By doing so, we can gain valuable insights into the conversion mechanism as well as the nature of the spherically symmetric black hole geometry. Moreover, we also investigate how the photon ring luminosities are affected if the black hole possesses a charge parameter. For instance apart from U(1) electric charge, the presence of extra dimension may induce a {\em tidal charge} with a characteristic signature. It is important to note that the success of the conversion mechanism relies on the axion-photon coupling and mass. As a result, the modified luminosity of the black hole's photon ring offers a valuable means of constraining the axion's mass and coupling parameter within a certain range. The minimal $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ gauge symmetry extended Standard Model (SM) is a well motivated framework that resolves the discrepancy between the theoretical prediction and experimental observation of muon anomalous magnetic moment. We envisage the possibility of identifying the beyond Standard Model Higgs of $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ sector, non-minimally coupled to gravity, as the inflaton in the early universe, while being consistent with the $(g-2)_\mu$ data. Although the structure seems to be trivial, we observe that taking into consideration of a complete cosmological history starting from inflation through the reheating phase to late-time epoch along with existing constraints on $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ model parameters leave us a small window of allowed reheating temperature. This further results into restriction of $(n_s-r)$ plane which is far severe than the one in a generic non-minimal quartic inflationary set up., Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures

Supersymmetric models with singlet extensions can accommodate single- or multi-step first-order phase transitions (FOPT) along the various constituent field directions. Such a framework can also produce Gravitational Waves, detectable at the upcoming space-based interferometers, e.g., U-DECIGO. We explore the dynamics of electroweak phase transition and the production of Gravitational Waves in an extended set-up of the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) with a Standard Model singlet right-handed neutrino superfield. We examine the role of the new parameters compared to NMSSM on the phase transition dynamics and observe that the occurrence of a FOPT, an essential requirement for Electroweak Baryogenesis, typically favours a right-handed sneutrino state below 125 GeV. Relativistic axions produced in decays of ${\mathcal O}(10^{-7}-10^{-2}$ $\text{eV})$ dark matter (DM) partially convert to photons after traversing the galactic magnetic field, giving rise to a signal observable by the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope. We show that for axions lighter than a few $\times$ $10^{-13}$ eV a 100 h SKA observation of the local dwarf galaxy Seg I would probe parameter space not constrained by stellar cooling and cosmological observations, with sensitivity several orders of magnitude better than the planned dedicated axion dark matter search experiments. We quantify the uncertainties in the SKA sensitivity projections due to two effects that enhance the radio flux: the presence of turbulent magnetic fields inside the galaxy, and the Bose enhancement of the DM decays to axions, where the latter, in particular, warrants further study., Comment: 26 pages, 12 figures. The lack of information before Big Bang Neucleosynthesis (BBN) allow us to assume the presence of a new species $\phi$ whose energy density redshifts as $a^{-(4+n)}$ where $n>0$ and $a$ is the scale factor. This non-standard cosmological setup facilitates a larger portal coupling $(\epsilon)$ between the dark and the visible sectors even when the two sectors are not in thermal equilibrium. Here, we have considered $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}\otimes U(1)_X$ gauge extension of the Standard Model (SM) and studied different phases of the cosmological evolution of a thermally decoupled dark sector such as leak-in, freeze-in, reannihilation, and late-time annihilation in the presence of fast expansion. Due to the tree level kinetic mixing between $U(1)_X$ and $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ gauge bosons, the dark sector couples with the $\mu$ and $\tau$ flavored leptons of the SM. We show that in our scenario it is possible to reconcile the dark matter relic density and muon $(g-2)$ anomaly. In particular, we show that for $2\times 10^{-4} \lesssim \epsilon \lesssim 10^{-3}$, $5.5{\rm MeV} \lesssim m_{Z^\prime} \lesssim 200{\rm MeV}$, $n=4$, and $1{\rm TeV} \lesssim m_\chi \lesssim 10{\rm TeV}$ relic density constraint of dark matter, constraint from muon $(g-2)$ anomaly, and other cosmological, astrophysical constraints are satisfied., Comment: Fig.9 modified, minor changes in conclusion, reference list updated, published in JCAP

The expansion rate of the Universe deviates from its standard value when the total energy density includes contribution from a new scalar field apart from the radiation energy density. The non-trivial modifications incurred in the Boltzmann equations render the well known analytical solutions unsuitable in non standard scenario. In the present study we derive analytical expressions for the efficiency factor (which is nothing but solution of set of Boltzmann equations) using certain legible approximations. A fair degree of accuracy of these formulas have been observed by juxtaposing the analytical results with that obtained through numerical solution of Boltzmann equations. Faster expansion of the Universe results in decrement of the effective decay parameter which brings down the amount of washout of asymmetry due to inverse decay. Thus in non-standard cosmology scenario, a larger fraction of the asymmetry (generated at early epoch) is expected to survive till present epoch. Alteration of the cosmology does not affect the underlying particle physics model responsible for the generation of the CP asymmetry. Therefore starting from an identical particle physics model we will end up with a larger final baryon asymmetry in the non-standard scenario. In the light of recent measurement of muon $(g-2)$, we investigate the phenomenological implications of an axion-like particle (ALP) which only couples to the standard model charged leptons. We find that in a narrow mass range of ALP, it can alleviate the tension between the theoretical prediction and experimental observation of $(g-2)_\mu$ once we consider all possible one and two-loop diagrams. In particular, ALP can either explain the muon $(g-2)$ anomaly for $5\,{\rm GeV} \lesssim m_a \lesssim 6 \,{\rm GeV}$ while satisfying the other experimental constraints, or be restricted by it., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

New light species can contribute to the number of effective relativistic degrees of freedom ($N_{\rm eff}$) at Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) which is precisely measured by Planck. In this work, we consider an MeV scale thermally decoupled non-minimal dark sector and study the imprint of the dark sector dynamics on the measurement of $N_{\rm eff}$ at the time of CMB formation. We have predicted the allowed region of model parameter space in the light of constraints arising from the measurements of both $N_{\rm eff}$ and dark matter relic density by Planck. In secluded dark sector scenario, the connection between the visible and the dark sector can be established through a portal coupling and its presence opens up the possibility of non-adiabatic evolution of the dark sector. To study the non-adiabatic evolution of the dark sector, we have considered a $U(1)_{L_\mu - L_\tau} \otimes U(1)_X$ extension of the standard model (SM). Here the dark sector is charged only under $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry whereas the SM fields are singlet under this symmetry. Due to the presence of tree-level kinetic mixing between $U(1)_X$ and $U(1)_{L_\mu - L_\tau}$ gauge bosons, the dark sector evolves non-adiabatically and thermal equilibrium between the visible and dark sector is governed by the portal coupling. Depending on the values of the portal coupling ($\epsilon$), dark sector gauge coupling ($g_X$), mass of the dark matter ($m_\chi$) and mass of the dark vector boson ($m_{Z^\prime}$), we study the temperature evolution of the dark sector as well as the various non-equilibrium stages of the dark sector in detail. Furthermore we have also investigated the constraints on the model parameters from various laboratory and astrophysical searches. We have found that the parameter space for the non-adiabatic evolution of dark sector is significantly constrained for $m_{Z^\prime}$ $\lesssim 100 \, {\rm MeV}$ from the observations of beam dump experiments, stellar cooling etc. The relic density satisfied region of our parameter space is consistent with the bounds from direct detection, and self interaction of dark matter (SIDM) for the mass ratio $r \equiv m_{Z^\prime}/m_\chi = 10^{-3}$ and these bounds will be more relaxed for larger values of $r$. However the constraints from measurement of diffuse $\gamma$-ray background flux and cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy are strongest for $r = 10^{-1}$ and for smaller values of $r$, they are not significant., Comment: 39 pages, 12 figures, 2 tables. The minimal gauged $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ model has long been known to be able to explain the tension between the theoretical and experimental values of the muon magnetic moment. It has been explored and tested extensively, pushing the viable parameter space into a very tight corner. Further, embedding the $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ model in a supersymmetric (SUSY) framework has been shown to relax some of these constraints and has recently been shown to explain the electron anomalous magnetic moment as well. In this model, the logarithm of the mass ratio of third to second generation (s)leptons control the non-negligible kinetic mixing and may crucially alter many of the constraints. We confront both the non-SUSY and SUSY versions of this class of models with the CsI(2017), the recently released CENNS10 data from the liquid Argon detector as well as the updated CsI(2020) data of the COHERENT experiment. We use the recoil energy and timing binned data from CsI(2017) and the energy, time, and Pulse Shape Discriminator binned data from CENNS10 to find estimates for the model parameters in a likelihood maximization test. We also show updated exclusions using all of the above data from the COHERENT Collaboration, as well as projected exclusions from the ongoing Coherent CAPTAIN-Mills experiment. The $(g-2)_\mu$ favored values of the $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ gauge coupling that are still unconstrained overlap with the estimates from COHERENT data within $1\sigma$. The combined COHERENT data is found to prefer the presence of the $U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau}$ gauge boson over the Standard Model at $\sim1.4\sigma$. The global minima of a chi-square deviation function using CsI(2020) as well as CENNS10 total counts has significant overlap with the $(g-2)_{\mu}$ favored parameter space in the context of the SUSY and non-SUSY $L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}$ models with a mediator mass in the $20-100$ MeV range., Comment: Figures updated to latest $(g-2)_\mu$ observation. Minimal gauged U(1)$_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ models can provide for an additional source for the muon anomalous magnetic moment however it is difficult to accommodate the discrepancy in the electron magnetic moment in tandem. Owing to the relative sign between the discrepancies in these quantities, it seems unlikely that they arise from the same source. We show that a supersymmetric (SUSY) gauged U(1)$_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ model can accommodate both the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments in a very simple and intuitive scenario, without utilizing lepton flavor violation. The currently allowed parameter space in this kind of a scenario is constrained from the latest LHC and various low energy experimental data,e.g., recent COHERENT data, CCFR, Borexino, BaBaR, supernova etc. These constraints, in conjunction with the requirement to explain both lepton magnetic moments, lead to an upper bound on the first generation slepton mass, a lower bound on the second generation slepton mass and constricts the allowed range for the new gauge boson mass and coupling. Exponential suppression or commonly known as the Boltzmann suppression in the number density of dark matter is the key ingredient for creating chemical imbalance prior to the usual thermal freeze-out. A degenerate/quasi-degenerate dark sector can experience a different exponential suppression in the number density analogous to the radioactive decay law leading to a delayed freeze-out mechanism of dark matter known as the co-decaying dark matter. In this work, we study the dynamics of a multicomponent dark matter from thermally decoupled degenerate dark sector in a hidden U$(1)_{X}$ extension of the Standard Model. We compute the relic density of dark matter frozen-out through the co-decaying mechanism by solving four coupled Boltzmann equations. We demonstrate how temperature $T^\prime $ of the dark sector changes due to all types of $3\rightarrow 2$ and $2\rightarrow 2$ interactions along with the eternal expansion of the Universe. We find that $3\rightarrow 2$ interactions enhance $T^\prime$ by producing energetic particles in the dark sector while the excess heat is transferred by $2\rightarrow 2$ interactions to the entire dark sector. As the direct detection is possible only through the feeble portal couplings, we investigate the neutrino and $\gamma$-ray signals from dark matter annihilation via one step cascade processes and compare our results with the measured fluxes of atmospheric neutrinos by Super-Kamiokande and diffuse $\gamma$-rays by Fermi-LAT, EGRET, INTEGRAL collaborations. We find that the present scenario easily evades all the existing bounds from atmospheric neutrino and diffuse $\gamma$-ray observations for degenerate dark sector. Non-observation of any dark matter signature at various direct detection experiments over the last decade keeps indicating that immensely popular WIMP paradigm may not be the actual theory of particle dark matter. Non-thermal dark matter produced through freeze-in is an attractive proposal, naturally explaining null results by virtue of its feeble couplings with the Standard Model (SM) particles. We consider a minimal extension of the SM by two gauge singlet fields namely, a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-odd fermion $\chi$ and a pseudo scalar $\tilde{\phi}$, where the former has interactions with the SM particles only at dimension five level and beyond. This introduces natural suppression in the interactions of $\chi$ by a heavy new physics scale $\Lambda$ and forces $\chi$ to be a non-thermal dark matter candidate. We have studied production of $\chi$ in detail taking into account both ultra-violate (UV), infra-red (IR) as well as mixed UV-IR freeze-in and found that for $10^{10}{\rm GeV}\leq\Lambda\leq 10^{15}{\rm GeV}$, $\chi$ is dominantly produced via UV and mixed UV-IR freeze-in when reheat temperature $T_{RH}\gtrsim 10^4$ GeV and below which the production is dominated by IR and mixed freeze-in. Furthermore, we have considered the cascade annihilation $\chi\bar{\chi} \rightarrow \tilde{\phi}\tilde{\phi}\rightarrow 4\gamma$ to address the longstanding $\sim3.5$ keV X-ray line observed from various galaxies and galaxy clusters. We have found that the long-lived intermediate state $\tilde{\phi}$ modifies dark matter density around the galactic centre to an effective density $\rho_{eff}$ which strongly depends on the decay length of $\tilde{\phi}$. We propose that the $\gamma + E \hspace{-.5em}/\;\:$ signal at the Belle-II will be a smoking gun for supersymmetry (SUSY) in the presence of a gauged $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ symmetry. A striking consequence of breaking the enhanced symmetry in the limit of degenerate (s)leptons is the nondecoupling of the radiative contribution of heavy charged sleptons, appearing in SUSY, to the $\gamma - Z^\prime$ kinetic mixing. The signal process, $e^+ e^- \rightarrow \gamma Z^\prime \rightarrow \gamma + E \hspace{-.5em}/\;\:$, is an outcome of this ubiquitous feature. We take into account the severe constraints on gauged $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ models by several low-energy observables and show that any significant excess in all but the highest photon energy bin would be an undeniable signature of such heavy scalar fields in SUSY coupling to $Z^\prime$. The number of signal events depends crucially on the logarithm of the ratio of stau to smuon mass in the presence of SUSY. In addition, the number is also inversely proportional to the $e^+-e^-$ collision energy, making a low-energy, high-luminosity collider like Belle-II an ideal testing ground for this channel. This process can probe large swathes of the slepton mass ratio vs the additional gauge coupling ($g_X$) parameter space. More importantly, it can explore the narrow slice of $M_{Z^{\prime}}-g_X$ parameter space still allowed in gauged $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ models for superheavy sparticles., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, matches the published version

The gauged $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ model can provide for additional contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment by means of a loop involving the $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson. However, the parameter space of such models is severely constrained if one combines the latest muon $(g-2)$ data with various neutrino experiments, such as neutrino trident production, $\nu -e$ and $\nu -q$ elastic scattering, etc. In a supersymmetric $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ model, a larger region of parameter space opens up, thus enabling one to explore otherwise forbidden regions of parameter space in nonsupersymmetric models involving the new gauge coupling ($g_X$) and the mass of the $Z^\prime$ gauge boson ($M_{Z^{\prime}}$) . We show that the minimal model with the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) field content is strongly disfavored from $Z$-boson decay and neutrino data. We also show that the nonminimal model with two extra singlet superfields can lead to correct neutrino masses and mixing involving both tree-level and one-loop contributions. We find that, in this model, both muon $(g-2)$ and neutrino data may be simultaneously explained in a parameter region consistent with experimental observations. In addition, we observe that the muon $(g-2)$ anomaly can be accommodated even with higher values of electroweak sparticle masses compared to the MSSM. Charged lepton-flavor-violating processes (like $\mu\rightarrow e\gamma$, $\tau\rightarrow \mu\gamma$, etc.) may have potentially large branching ratios in this scenario. Depending on the magnitude of the supersymmetry contribution to these processes, they may constrain hitherto unconstrained regions of the $M_{Z^{\prime}}-g_X$ parameter space. However, we find that these branching fractions never exceed their upper bounds in a region where both muon $(g-2)$ and neutrino oscillation data can be simultaneously accommodated., Comment: v2: 25 pages, 9 figures. We investigate a model with local U(1)$_{B-L}$ and discrete $Z_2$ symmetries where two types of weak isospin singlet neutrinos, vector-like charged lepton and exotic scalar fields are introduced. The linear seesaw mechanism is induced at one-loop level through Yukawa interactions associated with the standard model leptons and exotic fields. We also discuss lepton flavor violation and muon anomalous dipole magnetic moment induced by the new Yukawa interaction. In addition, our model has dark matter candidate which is the lightest $Z_2$ odd neutral particle. We investigate the phenomenology of top squarks at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in a supersymmetric model where lepton number is identified with an approximate $U(1)_R$ symmetry in such a way that one of the left chiral sneutrinos can acquire a large vacuum expectation value ($vev$) and can play the role of the down-type Higgs. This $R$-symmetry allows a subset of trilinear $R$-parity violating interactions, which determine the collider phenomenology of this model in a significant way. The gauginos are Dirac particles and gluinos are relatively heavy in this class of models. The model contains a right handed neutrino superfield, which gives a tree level mass to one of the active neutrinos. An order one neutrino Yukawa coupling also helps enhance the Higgs boson mass at the tree level and results in a very light bino-like neutralino ($\widetilde \chi_2^0$) with mass around a few hundred MeV, which is a carrier of missing (transverse) energy (\met). The model can accommodate two rather light top squarks, compatible with the observed mass of the Higgs boson. The lighter top squark (${\widetilde t}_1$) can decay into $t\widetilde\chi_2^0$, and thus the signal would be similar to the signal of top quark pair production at the LHC. In addition, fully visible decays such as ${\widetilde t}_2 \rightarrow b e^+$ can give rise to interesting final states. Such signals at the LHC combined with other features like a heavy gluino could provide a strong evidence for this kind of a model. Our analysis shows that $m_{\widetilde t_1}\lsim 575~(750)$ GeV and $m_{\widetilde t_2}\lsim 1.2~(1.4)$ TeV can be probed with 5$\sigma$ statistical significance at the 13 TeV LHC with 300~(3000) fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Existence of unbounded from below directions in the potential can spoil successful Electroweak (EW) symmetry breaking by making the corresponding minimum unstable, and hence the model should be free from those directions. Avoiding those directions restricts the parameter space of the model. We derive four stability constraints, of which only three independent from each other. After scanning the model's parameter space for phenomenologically viable data points, we impose the stability constraints and find that only about a quarter of the data points features a stable EW minimum. At those data points featuring stability, $\mu$ and the up Higgs soft mass turn out to be smaller than about a TeV in absolute value, which make the mass of the lightest chargino and neutralino smaller than about 700 GeV. Two relevant phenomenological consequences of lifting the unbounded from below directions are that the lightest Higgs boson decay rate to diphoton predicted by the triplet extension of MSSM generally features larger deviations from MSSM and fine tuning is actually higher, that what each of the two would be without imposing stability constraints., Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures

We perform a detailed study of the signal rate of the lightest Higgs boson in the diphoton channel ($\mu_{\gamma \gamma}$), recently analyzed by both the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the Large Hadron Collider, in the framework of $U(1)_R-$ lepton number model with a right handed neutrino superfield. The corresponding neutrino Yukawa coupling, `$f$', plays a very important role in the phenomenology of this model. A large value of $f\sim\mathcal O(1)$ provides an additional tree level contribution to the lightest Higgs boson mass along with a very light (mass $\sim$ a few hundred MeV) bino like neutralino and a small tree level mass of one of the active neutrinos that is compatible with various experimental results. In the presence of this light neutralino, the invisible decay width of the Higgs boson can become important. We studied this scenario in conjunction with the recent LHC results. The signal rate $\mu_{\gamma\gamma}$ obtained in this scenario is compatible with the recent results from both the ATLAS and the CMS collaborations at 1$\sigma$ level. A small value of `$f$', on the other hand, is compatible with a sterile neutrino acting as a 7 keV dark matter that can explain the observation of a mono-energetic X-ray photon line by the XMM-Newton X-ray observatory. We study the phenomenology of a keV sterile neutrino in a supersymmetric model with $U(1)_R-$ lepton number in the light of a very recent observation of an X-ray line signal at around 3.5 keV, detected in the X-ray spectra of Andromeda galaxy and various galaxy clusters including the Perseus galaxy cluster. This model not only provides a small tree level mass to one of the active neutrinos but also renders a suitable warm dark matter candidate in the form of a sterile neutrino with negligible active-sterile mixing. Light neutrino masses and mixing can be explained once one-loop radiative corrections are taken into account. The scalar sector of this model can accommodate a Higgs boson with a mass of $\sim$ 125 GeV. We discuss neutrino masses and mixing in the framework of a supersymmetric model with an $U(1)_{R}$ symmetry, consisting of a single right handed neutrino superfield with an appropriate R charge. The lepton number ($L$) of the standard model fermions are identified with the negative of their R-charges. As a result, a subset of leptonic R-parity violating operators can be present and are consistent with the $U(1)_R$ symmetry. This model can produce one light Dirac neutrino mass at the tree level without the need of introducing a very small neutrino Yukawa coupling. We analyze the scalar sector of this model in detail paying special attention to the mass of the lightest Higgs boson. One of the sneutrinos might acquire a substantial vacuum expectation value leading to interesting phenomenological consequences. Different sum rules involving the physical scalar masses are obtained and we show that the lightest Higgs boson mass receives a contribution proportional to the square of the neutrino Yukawa coupling $f$. This allows for a 125 GeV Higgs boson at the tree level for $f \sim {\cal O} (1)$ and still having a small tree level mass for the active neutrino. In order to fit the experimental results involving neutrino masses and mixing angles we introduce a small breaking of $U(1)_R$ symmetry, in the context of anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking. In the presence of this small R-symmetry breaking, light neutrino masses receive contributions at the one-loop level involving the R-parity violating interactions. We also identify the right handed sterile neutrino as a warm dark matter candidate in our model. In the case of R-symmetry breaking, the large $f$ case is characterized by a few hundred MeV lightest neutralino as an unstable lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) and we briefly discuss the cosmological implications of such a scenario., Comment: Minor corrections in the text, figure 9.6 and 9.7 modified, eq. Within the framework of a constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) augmented by an MSSM singlet-pair sector to account for the non-zero neutrino masses by inverse seesaw mechanism, the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) can be a mixed sneutrino with mass as small as 50 GeV, satisfying all existing constraints, thus qualifying as a light dark matter candidate. We study the possibility of the lightest neutral Higgs boson in this model decaying invisibly into a pair of sneutrino LSPs, thereby giving rise to novel missing energy signatures at the LHC. We perform a two-parameter global analysis of the LHC Higgs data available till date to determine the optimal invisible Higgs branching fraction in this scenario, and obtain a $2\sigma(1\sigma)$ upper limit of 0.23 (0.12). We consider the minimal seesaw model in which two gauge singlet right handed neutrinos with opposite lepton numbers are added to the Standard Model. In this model, the smallness of the neutrino mass is explained by the tiny lepton number violating coupling between one of the singlets with the standard left-handed neutrinos. This allows one to have the right handed neutrino mass at the TeV scale as well as appreciable mixing between the light and heavy states. This model is fully reconstructible in terms of the neutrino oscillation parameters apart from the overall coupling strengths. We show that the overall coupling strength $y_\nu$ for the Dirac type coupling between the left handed neutrino and one of the singlets can be restricted by consideration of the (meta)stability bounds on the electroweak vacuum. In this scenario the lepton flavor violating decays of charged leptons can be appreciable which can put further constraint on $y_\nu$, for right-handed neutrinos at TeV scale. We discuss the combined constraints on $y_\nu$ for this scenario from the process $\mu \rightarrow e \gamma$ and from the consideration of vacuum (meta)stability constraints on the Higgs self coupling. We study the possibility of a light Dark Matter (DM) within a constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) framework augmented by a SM singlet-pair sector to account for the non-zero neutrino masses by inverse seesaw mechanism. Working within a 'hybrid' scenario with the MSSM sector fixed at high scale and the singlet neutrino sector at low scale, we find that, contrary to the case of the usual cMSSM where the neutralino DM cannot be very light, we can have a light sneutrino DM with mass below 100 GeV satisfying all the current experimental constraints from cosmology, collider as well as low-energy experiments. We also note that the supersymmetric inverse seesaw mechanism with sneutrino as the lightest supersymmetric partner can have enhanced same-sign dilepton final states with large missing transverse energy (mET) coming from the gluino- and squark-pair as well as the squark-gluino associated productions and their cascade decay through charginos. We present a collider study for the same-sign dilepton+jets+mET signal in this scenario and propose some distinctions with the usual cMSSM. In the Randall-Sundrum model, a bulk neutrino field in the 5-dimensional space-time can give rise to tiny Dirac masses to neutrinos. In such a scenario, we have computed the contribution of the bulk neutrino field to the anomalous magnetic moment $(g-2)_\mu$ of muon. We have computed this contribution in the 't Hooft-Feynman gauge and have found that the contribution has the right sign to fit the current discrepancy between the experiment and the standard model value of $(g-2)_\mu$. Some yet unknown dynamics is expected to be at work behind the flavor puzzles of the Standard Model. Speculations exist that this may manifest itself in significant strength at the terascale. One consequence may be lepton flavor violation with total lepton number conserved. Already observed in neutrino oscillation experiments, such a phenomenon may show up more prominently at TeV energies, thus signaling a completely new physics. Proposed flavor violating charged dilepton states have already been studied with reference to the LHC. Here we study the production and detection at the LHC of flavor violating charged quadrileptons which are shown to have certain advantages over dileptons in searching for lepton flavor violation. A classification of all six-fermionic operators, in the chiral basis and contributing to such processes, is made and the corresponding cross section for each in 14 TeV pp collisions is computed under the hypothesis of single operator dominance. We study the possible constraints on non-standard interaction(NSIs) in a model independent way by considering the recent results from T2K and Daya Bay neutrino oscillations experiments. Using perturbation method we present generic formulas (suitable for T2K baseline and for large $\theta_{13}$ as evident from Daya Bay) for the probability of oscillation for $\nu_\mu \rightarrow \nu_e$, taking into account NSIs at source ($\epsilon^s$), detector ($\epsilon^d$) and during propagation ($\epsilon^m$) of neutrinos through matter. Two separate cases of perturbation with small (slightly large) NSI ($\epsilon_{\alpha\beta}^m \sim 0.03(0.18)$) are discussed in detail. Using various possible presently allowed NSI values we reanalyze numerically the $\theta_{13} - \delta$ allowed region given by recent T2K experimental data. We obtain model independent constraints on NSIs in the $\delta-\epsilon_{\alpha\beta}^m$ plane using the $\theta_{13}$ value as measured by Daya Bay, where $\delta$ is the CP violating phase. Depending on $\delta$ values significant constraints on $\epsilon_{e\tau}$ and $\epsilon_{\tau\tau}$, in particular, are possible for both hierarchies of neutrino masses. We investigate signatures of the minimal supersymmetric inverse seesaw model at the large hadron collider (LHC) with three isolated leptons and large missing energy (3\ell + \mET or 2\ell + 1\tau + \mET, with \ell=e,\mu) in the final state. This signal has its origin in the decay of chargino-neutralino (\chpm1\ntrl2) pair, produced in pp collisions. The two body decays of the lighter chargino into a charged lepton and a singlet sneutrino has a characteristic decay pattern which is correlated with the observed large atmospheric neutrino mixing angle. This correlation is potentially observable at the LHC by looking at the ratios of cross sections of the trilepton + \mET channels in certain flavour specific modes. A sufficiently long lived warm dark matter could be a source of X-rays observed by satellite based X-ray telescopes. We consider axinos and gravitinos with masses between 1 keV and 100 keV in supersymmetric models with small R-parity violation. We show that axino dark matter receives significant constraints from X-ray observations of Chandra and SPI, especially for the lower end of the allowed range of the axino decay constant $f_{a}$, while the gravitino dark matter remains unconstrained., Comment: 19 pages, 10 figures

Recently CDF has reported a 4.1 sigma excess in the distribution of the dijet invariant mass between 120-160 GeV in Wjj event sample in 7.3 fb^{-1} of data, which has generated considerable interest. We offer a possible explanation of this observation in the general framework of MSSM with R-parity violation through resonance production of tau sneutrino decaying into the LSP stau_1 and W boson. In R-parity violating supersymmetric models both leptogenesis and the correct neutrino masses are hard to achieve together. The presence of certain soft nonholomorphic R-parity violating terms helps to resolve this problem. We consider a scenario where the lightest and the second-lightest neutralino are nearly degenerate in mass and enough CP-asymmetry can be produced through resonant leptogenesis. In this model, the lighter chargino and the lightest neutralino are highly degenerate. We have relatively lighter gauginos which can be produced at the LHC leading to heavily ionizing charged tracks. At the same time this model can also generate the correct neutrino mass scale. We predict an unconventional background free signal of the Higgs boson in $R$-parity violating nonminimal supersymmetric models at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The signal comprises dilepton plus four hadronic jets and two large displaced vertices. The displaced leptons and jets are coming from the decay of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), which is predominantly a gauge-singlet neutrino. A pair of such LSPs can couple to a Higgs boson, created via gluon fusion. We have analyzed two cases - one corresponding to the tree-level Higgs boson mass and another with the one-loop corrected mass of the Higgs boson. A reliable Higgs mass reconstruction using this signal can lead to discovery at the LHC with center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=14~\rm{TeV}$ and 5 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity $(\mathcal{L})$. Even at $\sqrt{s}=7~\rm{TeV}$ and $\mathcal{L}$ = 5 fb$^{-1}$, a reasonable number of events are expected. We study a distinct supersymmetric signal of multi-photons in association with jets and missing transverse energy. At least one of these photons has the origin in displaced vertex, thus delayed and non-pointing. We consider a supersymmetric scenario in which the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) (with a mass $\sim 1~{keV}$) and the lightest neutralino is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). The NLSP decays dominantly into a photon and a gravitino within the detector with a decay length ranging from $c\tau_{\tilde{\chi}}\sim$ 50-100 cm. In addition, we assume that the second lightest neutralino and the lightest neutralino are nearly degenerate and this leads to a prompt radiative decay of the next-to-lightest neutralino into a photon and a lightest neutralino with a large branching ratio. Such degenerate neutralinos can be realised in various representations of the $SU(5)$, $SO(10)$, and $E(6)$ Grand Unified Theories (GUTs). The non-pointing photons can be reconstructed at the electromagnetic calorimeter of the ATLAS inner-detector, which have been designed with good timing and directional resolution. We find that with a centre-of-mass energy $E_{cm}=14 ~{TeV}$ at an integrated luminosity of 100 $fb^{-1}$ one may see evidence of hundreds of tri-photon events and a few four-photons events at the LHC, in addition to several thousands di-photon events. Sneutrino-antisneutrino oscillation can be a very useful probe to look for signatures of lepton number violation ($\Delta L = 2$) at the LHC. Here, we discuss the effect of the boost factor $\gamma$ and the travelling distance $L$ on the probability of the oscillation. We demonstrate that these two parameters can significantly alter the probability of the oscillation when the sneutrinos are ultrarelativistic and have a very small total decay width. Neutrino mass patterns and mixing have been studied in the context of next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) with three gauge singlet neutrino superfields. We consider the case with the assumption of R-parity conservation. The vacuum expectation value of the singlet scalar field $S$ of NMSSM induces the Majorana masses for the right-handed neutrinos as well as the usual $\mu$-term. The contributions to the light neutrino mass matrix at the tree level as well as one-loop level are considered, consistent with the tri-bimaximal pattern of neutrino mixing. Light neutrino masses arise at the tree level through a TeV scale seesaw mechanism involving the right-handed neutrinos. In an extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (popularly known as the $\mu\nu$SSM), three right handed neutrino superfields are introduced to solve the $\mu$-problem and to accommodate the non-vanishing neutrino masses and mixing. Neutrino masses at the tree level are generated through $R-$parity violation and seesaw mechanism. We have analyzed the full effect of one-loop contributions to the neutrino mass matrix. We show that the current three flavour global neutrino data can be accommodated in the $\mu\nu$SSM, for both the tree level and one-loop corrected analyses. We examine in detail the neutrino masses and mixing patterns in an extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with three gauge-singlet neutrinos and R-parity violation. The Majorana masses for the gauge-singlet neutrinos as well as the usual $\mu$-term for the Higgs superfields are generated at the electroweak scale through the vacuum expectation values of the singlet sneutrinos. The resulting effective mass matrix for the three light neutrinos have contributions from the seesaw mechanism involving the singlet neutrinos as well as due to the mixing with the heavy neutralinos. This model is popularly known in the literature as the "$\mu$ from $\nu$ supersymmetric standard model" ($\mu\nu$SSM). We show that even with flavour diagonal neutrino Yukawa couplings, the global data on three-flavour neutrinos can be well accounted for in this scenario, at the tree level. We also analyze the mixing in the chargino and the Higgs sector and calculate the decays of the lightest supersymmetric particle in this model. The decay branching ratios show certain correlations with the neutrino mixing angles, which can be tested at the LHC. In grand unified theories (GUT), non-universal boundary conditions for the gaugino masses may arise at the unification scale, and affect the observability of the neutral MSSM Higgs bosons (h/H/A) at the LHC. The implications of such non-universal gaugino masses are investigated for the Higgs boson production in the SUSY cascade decay chain gluino --> squark quark, squark --> neutralino_2 quark, neutralino_2 --> neutralino_1 h/H/A, h/H/A --> b b-bar produced in pp interactions. In the singlet representation with universal gaugino masses only the light Higgs boson can be produced in this cascade with the parameter region of interest for us, while with non-universal gaugino masses heavy neutral MSSM Higgs boson production may dominate. The allowed parameter space in the light of the WMAP constraints on the cold dark matter relic density is investigated in the above scenarios for gaugino mass parameters. We also demonstrate that combination of representations can give the required amount of dark matter in any point of the parameter space. Sneutrino-antisneutrino mixing occurs in a supersymmetric model where neutrinos have nonzero Majorana masses. This can lead to the sneutrino decaying into a final state with a "wrong-sign charged lepton". In an $e^- \gamma$ collider, the signal of the associated production of an electron-sneutrino and the lighter chargino and their subsequent decays can be $e^- \gamma \to e^+ {\tilde \tau}_1^- {\tilde \tau}_1^- + \mpT$ where the ${\tilde \tau}_1$s are long-lived and can produce heavily ionizing charged tracks. This signal is free of any Standard Model background, and the supersymmetric backgrounds are small. Such a signal can be experimentally observable under certain conditions which are possible to obtain in an anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario. Information on a particular combination of the neutrino masses and mixing angles can also be extracted through the observation of this signal. Non-universal boundary conditions in grand unified theories can lead to non-universal gaugino masses at the unification scale. In R-parity preserving theories the lightest supersymmetric particle is a natural candidate for the dark matter. We have studied the composition of the lightest neutralino in non-universal gaugino mass cases from the SU(5), and implications on the dark matter. In the representations of SU(5) thermal relic density agreeing with WMAP is found. Recent PVLAS data put stringent constraints on the measurement of birefringence and dichroism of electromagnetic waves travelling in a constant and homogeneous magnetic field. There have been theoretical predictions in favour of such phenomena when appropriate axion-electromagnetic coupling is assumed. Origin of such a coupling can be traced in a low energy string action from the requirement of quantum consistency. The resulting couplings in such models are an artifact of the compactification of the extra dimensions present inevitably in a string scenario. The moduli parameters which encode the compact manifold therefore play a crucial role in determining the axion-photon coupling. In this work we examine the possible bounds on the value of compact modulus that emerge from the experimental limits on the coupling obtained from the PVLAS data. In particular we focus into the Randall-Sundrum (RS) type of warped geometry model whose modulus parameter is already restricted from the requirement of the resolution of gauge hierarchy problem in connection with the mass of the Higgs. We explore the bound on the modulus for a wide range of the axion mass for both the birefringence and the dichroism data in PVLAS. Grand unified theories (GUTs) can lead to non-universal gaugino masses at the unification scale. We analyze the prospects of observing lepton flavour violation in future e-e- and e+e- linear colliders in scenarios where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, and the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. The signals consist of multilepton final states with two heavily ionizing charged tracks produced by the long-lived staus. The Standard Model backgrounds are very small and the supersymmetric backgrounds can be kept well under control by the use of suitable kinematical cuts. We discuss in particular the potential of the projected International Linear Collider to discover lepton flavour violation in this class of scenarios, and we compare the estimated sensitivity with the constraints stemming from the non-observation of rare decays., Comment: 30 pages, 12 figures. Sneutrino-antisneutrino mixing occurs in a supersymmetric model where neutrinos have nonzero Majorana masses. This can lead to the sneutrino decaying into a final state with a "wrong-sign charged lepton". Hence, in an $e^- \gamma$ collider, the signal of the associated production of an electron-sneutrino and the lighter chargino and their subsequent decays can be $e^- \gamma \to e^+ {\tilde \tau}_1^- {\tilde \tau}_1^- + \mpT$ where the ${\tilde \tau}_1$s are long-lived and can produce heavily ionizing charged tracks. This signal is free of any Standard Model background and the supersymmetric backgrounds are small. Such a signal can be experimentally observable under certain conditions which are possible to obtain in an anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario. Information on a particular combination of the neutrino masses and mixing angles can also be extracted through the observation of this signal.
