The survey was conducted on 1433 junior high school students (728 boys and 611 girls, first grade:452, second grade:468, third grade:419) taking physical education classes between June and July 2022. The survey included a group of items assessing the learning outcomes of physical education classes (learning motor skills, cultivating communication skills, acquiring knowledge on body and movement, feeling the attraction of physical activities) and a group of items assessing attitudes toward sports participation (positive and negative awareness). The data were analyzed primarily by grade level with correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results of the correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation between learning outcomes of physical education classes and positive attitudes toward sports participation, and a significant negative correlation with negative attitudes. Next, multiple regression analysis was conducted for each grade, and the results showed that, common to all grades, learning motor skills and feeling the attraction of physical activities had a significant positive effect on the positive attitude toward sports participation. In addition, differences in the effects of the learning outcomes of physical education classes on the students' attitudes toward sports participation were found to vary by grade level.
