Driven Kerr resonators support temporal cavity solitons (CS) in the form of short optical pulses propagating along the cavity. They are also called localized structures and have been theoretically predicted in [1] and experimentally observed in [2]. They are often generated in the sub-critical modulation instability regime. The generation of CSs and their connections to optical comb generation have been recently reviewed [3]. They possess potential applications as bits in all-optical buffers and coherent optical frequency combs.
