A method for performing overcurrent protection against earth faults in 6–10 kV cable networks with insulated neutral and with neutral grounding through a high-resistance resistor providing adaptation to the influence of main variable factors - transients during arc faults and transient fault resistance is provided. The analysis of the effectiveness of the proposed protection, carried out on mathematical models of 6–10 kV cable networks in Matlab, confirmed the high dynamic stability of its operation in transient modes at arc earth faults and sensitivity for stable earth faults through transient resistance. The proposed method provides an extension of the area of possible application of adaptive current protection against earth faults in 6–10 kV cable networks.
