In this paper an approach to non-contact remote assessment of heart rate using a standard video camera is discussed. A method for measuring heart rate is developed. This method includes the stages of data accumulation and processing, spectral analysis of video images and analysis of the obtained information to calculate the results. The difference between the average pulse measuring by contact sensors and our approach does not exceed 3–4 bpm. The developed software can be used for remote monitoring of the functional status of a person.
