This article will report on the recommendations from a study that investigated what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students said affected their social and emotional wellbeing. The study interviewed students from seven different universities and utilised thematic analysis to determine what the factors where. As a result, a number of strategies became apparent that could be implemented to optimise Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander students' social and emotional wellbeing whilst at university, and not only make the experience more positive but also facilitate their progression and completion. The article focuses on the development of a resilience training package which can be used in universities to study the wellbeing of indigenous students (IS) in Australia. It mentions that resilient individuals have personal strengths in social skills and problem solving skills. Also, resilient training teaches the participant to become self-motivated with the attitudinal choice. It is inferred that the social benefits for developing resilience training model is for happier and healthier IS.

Whilst conducting research into the effects that wellbeing has on the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal students while at university, a number of major themes emerged that were worthy of much further research than I could carry out at the time. Each one of these themes was as complex as the next and gave a picture of what a student's university experience was like. One such theme which deserves particular attention is that of identity. The notion of identity and skin colour were constantly discussed within interviews and featured as one of the major barriers to wellbeing and that of a good university experience.
