Tissue engineering is theoretically considered a promising approach for repairing osteochondral defects. Nevertheless, the insufficient osseous support and integration of the cartilage layer and the subchondral bone frequently lead to the failure of osteochondral repair. Drawing from this, it was proposed that incorporating glycine-modified attapulgite (GATP) into poly(1,8-octanediol-co-citrate) (POC) scaffolds via the one-step chemical cross-linking is proposed to enhance cartilage and subchondral bone defect repair simultaneously. The effects of the GATP incorporation ratio on the physicochemical properties, chondrocyte and MC3T3-E1 behavior, and osteochondral defect repair of the POC scaffold were also evaluated. In vitro studies indicated that the POC/10% GATP scaffold improved cell proliferation and adhesion, maintained cell phenotype, and upregulated chondrogenesis and osteogenesis gene expression. Animal studies suggested that the POC/10% GATP scaffold has significant repair effects on both cartilage and subchondral bone defects. Therefore, the GATP-incorporated scaffold system with dual-lineage bioactivity showed potential application in osteochondral regeneration.

Flexible thermoelectric generators can directly convert thermal energy harvested from the human body into electricity. The Ag2Se flexible film, a promising material for wearable thermoelectric generators, normally demonstrates an inferior electrical transport property due to its weakened in-plane mobility. In this study, the in-plane electrical transport properties of flexible Ag2Se films were optimized by alloying with additional sulfur. This optimization is achieved by leveraging the differences in elemental electronegativity and the preferred orientation of the Ag2Se films. The sulfur-alloyed Ag2Se thin film, with a nominal ratio of 3 atom %, can reach a maximum mobility of 1150 cm–2V–1s–1at 300 K. So, the optimized room-temperature power factor increases to 1935 μW m–1K–2. Furthermore, the Ag2Se film alloyed with 3 atom % sulfur exhibits excellent flexibility even after 1000 bending cycles with a radius of 5 mm, characterized by a relative resistance increment of less than 3%. In addition, the corresponding π-type flexible thermoelectric generator possesses a maximum power density of 51 W m–2at a temperature difference of 50 K.

Highly crystalline and easily feasible topological insulator–superconductor (TI-SC) heterostructures are crucial for the development of practical topological qubit devices. The optimal superconducting layer for TI-SC heterostructures should be highly resilient against external contamination and structurally compatible with TIs. In this study, we provide a solution to this challenge by showcasing the growth of a highly crystalline TI-SC heterostructure using refractory TiN (111) as the superconducting layer. This approach can eliminate the need for in situcleavage or growth. More importantly, the TiN surface shows high resilience against contaminations during air exposure, as demonstrated by the successful recyclable growth of Bi2Se3. Our findings indicate that TI-SC heterostructures based on nitride films are compatible with device fabrication techniques, paving the way to the realization of practical topological qubit devices in the future.

Fiber-based supercapacitors are the potential power sources in the field of wearable electronics and energy storage textiles due to their unique advantages of electrochemical properties and mechanical flexibility, but achieving high energy density and practical energy supply still presents some challenges. In this study, we reported an approach of microfluidic assisted wet-spinning to fabricate SnO2quantum dots encapsulated polyaniline/graphene hybrid fibers (SnO2QDs@PGF) by incorporating uniformly polyaniline into graphene fibers and covalently bridging SnO2quantum dots. The assembled SnO2QDs@PGF fiber-typed flexible supercapacitors exhibit an ultralarge specific areal capacitance of 925 mF cm–2in PVA/H2SO4, superior rate capabilities, and capacitance retention of 88% after 8000 cycles, indicating that the SnO2QDs@PGF possess near-ideal capacitance properties, efficient ion transfer rate, and good cycling stability. In the EMITFSI/PVDF-HFP electrolyte system, SnO2QDs@PGF realize a wide operating potential window of 2.5 V, a specific areal capacitance of 678.4 mF cm–2, and an energy density of 147.2 μWh cm–2at 500 μW cm–2, which can be utilized to power an alarm clock, an electronic timer, and a desk lamp with a requirement of a 3 V battery. The exceptional performance of the SnO2QDs@PGF can be attributed to the molecular-level homogeneous composite of granular polyaniline and graphene nanosheets and the interfacial C-O-Sn covalent coupling strategy employed between SnO2QDs and PGF. These avenues not only effectively prevent the undesirable restacking of graphene nanosheets but also increase the interlayer electroactive sites, ordered ion diffusion channels, and strong interfacial charge transfer.
