13. Charge Transfer in Graphene-MoS2Vertical Heterostructures Tuned by Stacking Order and Substrate-Introduced Electric Field

Abstract

Vertical van der Waals heterostructures composed of graphene (Gr) and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have created a fascinating platform for exploring optical and electronic properties in the two-dimensional limit. Numerous studies have focused on Gr/TMDs heterostructures to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of charge-energy transfer, quasiparticle formation, and relaxation following optical excitation. Nevertheless, a comprehensive understanding of interfacial charge separation and subsequent dynamics in graphene-based heterostructures remains elusive. Here, we have investigated the carrier dynamics of Gr-MoS2heterostructures (including Gr/MoS2and MoS2/Gr stacking sequences) grown on a fused silica substrate under varying photoexcitation energies by comprehensive ultrafast means, including time-resolved terahertz (THz) spectroscopy, THz emission spectroscopy, and transient absorption spectroscopy. Our findings highlight the impact of the substrate electric field on the efficiency of modulating the interfacial charge transfer (CT). Specifically, the optical excitation in Gr/MoS2generates thermal electron injection from the graphene layer into the MoS2layer with photon energy well below A-exciton of MoS2, whereas the interfacial CT in the MoS2/Gr is blocked by the electric field of the substrate. In turn, photoexcitation of the A exciton above leads to hole transfer from MoS2to graphene, which occurs for both Gr-MoS2heterostructures with opposite stacking orders, resulting in the opposite orientations of the interfacial photocurrent, as directly demonstrated by the out-of-phase THz emission. Moreover, we demonstrate that the recombination time of interfacial exciton is approximately ∼18 ps, whereas the defect-assisted interfacial recombination occurs on a time scale of ∼ns. This study provides valuable insights into the interplay between interfacial CT, substrate effects, and defect engineering in Gr-TMDs heterostructures, thereby facilitating the development of next-generation optoelectronic devices.

21. Peapod-Like Structured B/N Co-Doped Carbon Nanotube Array Encapsulating MxPy(M = Fe, Co, and Ni) Nanoparticles for High-Rate Potassium Storage

Abstract

Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) have become the desirable alternatives for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) originating from abundant reserves and appropriate redox potential, while the considerable radius size of K+leading to poor reaction kinetics and huge volume expansion limits the practical application of PIBs. Hybridization of transition-metal phosphides and carbon substrates can effectively optimize the obstacles of poor conductivity, sluggish kinetics, and huge volume variation. Thus, the peapod-like structural MxPy@BNCNTs (M = Fe, Co, and Ni) composites as anode materials for PIBs were synthesized through a facile strategy. Notably, the unique architecture of B/N codoped carbon nanotube array as fast ion/electron transfer pathways effectively improves the electronic conductivity of composites. The MxPynanoparticles (NPs) are encapsulated in BNCNTs with an amorphous carbon layer (5–10 nm), which discernibly alleviate the volume changes during potassiation/depotassiation. In conclusion, the composites show a commendable cycling performance, possessing reversible capacities of 111, 152, and 122 mA h g–1after 1000 cycles at 1.0 A g–1with a negligible capacity loss for FeP@BNCNT, CoP/Co2P@BNCNT, and Ni2P@BNCNT electrodes, respectively. Especially, after 1000 cycles at 2.0 A g–1, the CoP/Co2P@BNCNT electrode still possesses a capacity of 87.9 mA h g–1, demonstrating excellent rate performance and long-term life. This work may offer an innovative and viable route to construct a stable architecture for solving the issue of poor stability of TMP-based anodes at a high current density.

27. Smart Stimulation Response of a Pyrene-Based Lanthanide(III)

Abstract

Toxic acids produced by industries are major hazards to the environment and human health, and luminescent pyrene-based crystalline metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) demonstrate promising performance in the detection of toxic acids. Herein, two novel isostructural 3D porous lanthanide MOFs, H3O·[Ln3(TBAPy)2(μ2-H2O)2(OH)2]·2DMA·2Diox·6.5H2O (Ln = Pr (1) and Ce (2); H4TBAPy (1,3,6,8-tetrakis(p-benzoic acid)pyrene); and DMA: N,N-dimethylacetamide) were synthesized, which showed albtopology. Based on the protonation and hydrogen bond mechanism, complex 1could be used as a fluorescence recognition sensor for HX (X = F, Cl, Br, and I) acid solutions with different luminescence behaviors. It is worth noting that complex 1exhibited high sensitivity in the fluorescence enhancement sensing of hydrofluoric acid, oxalic acid, and trichloroacetic acid. In particular, complex 1had a low limit of detection (LOD) for OA (0.1 μM) and was applied to real monitoring of orange fruit samples. In addition, the PVA@1film could selectively, sensitively, and quantitatively respond to hydrochloric acid (HCl) vapor through fluorescent quenching; due to its protonation and adsorption capacity, the LOD was 0.18 ppm. Therefore, the portable optical device, the PVA@1film, can detect HCl gas in trace amounts, achieving the ultimate goal of real-time and rapid detection, which has potential application value for industrial production safety.

Abstract

Nanopesticides were selected as one of the top 10 emerging technologies in chemistry that will change our world in 2019. Facile, smart, and degradable metal-organic framework MIL-101(FeIII) nanopesticides gated with FeIII-tannic acid (TA) networks are created using a universal strategy. The capping of the FeIII-TA network gatekeepers is instinctively oriented by the coordinatively unsaturated FeIII sites on the surfaces of the MIL-101(FeIII) nanocarriers; thus, their combination is perfectly matched. This is the first example that one smart gated nanoparticle is integrated with seven stimuli-responsive performances to meet the diverse controlled release of encapsulated cargos by the disassembly of the gatekeepers and/or the degradation of the nanocarriers. More importantly, each of the seven stimuli (acidic/alkaline pH, H2O2, glutathione, phosphates, ethylenediaminetetraacetate, and near-infrared light of sunlight) is closely related to the biological and natural environments of crops, and the biocompatible nanocarriers are eventually degraded against bioaccumulation even if the nanopesticides enter crops. These mechanisms of the stimuli-responsive controlled release are identified and clearly elaborated. It is found that the natural polyphenol can improve the wettability of aqueous droplets of nanopesticides on model hydrophobic foliage for pesticide adhesion and retention. The nanopesticides encapsulated with the fungicide tebuconazole show high fungicidal activities against pathogenic fungi Rhizoctonia solani (rice sheath blight) and Fusarium graminearum (wheat head blight); good safety on seed germination, seedling emergence, and plant height of wheat by seed dressing; and satisfactory control efficacy in wheat powdery mildew caused by Blumeria graminis in the greenhouse. The nanopesticides have potential applications in the field for high quality and yield of agricultural production.
