SummaryTwo cases of acute poisoning with large amounts of thallium acetate (0.75 and 1.5 g) are reported. The clinical observation and the urinary elimination of the thallium are described from the very first hours after ingestion of the poison until the complete disappearance of any manifestation. The same treatment was applied to the two patients : gastric lavage with sodium iodide and magnesium sulfate solutions, administration of methionine and cysteine per os, iodide and B1 - B12 vitamins.The late administration of BAL (from the 20th to the 31st day) did not change the urinary excretion of the thallium.

Summary1. Serum transaminase and lactic dehydrogenase levels are excellent tests for detecting tissue necrosis. They can contribute to the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, especially cases where the diagnosis cannot be firmely established on clinical and/or electrocardiographic grounds.2. Only repeated dosages, with the construction of a dosage-time curve, are of diagnostic value (38). A sharp increase in serum enzyme levels followed by a progressive return to normal indicates coronary thrombosis while permanently high values suggest a lesion in some other organ (fig. io). A secondary increase in serum enzyme levels (especially DL) in the course of myocardial infarction is usually due to necrosis within some other tissue (23,24,25,27,29).

SummaryA case of hyperkalemia associated with crush syndrome is reported.During treatment with the artificial kidney, a close relation between TV3 wave amplitude and plasma K+ level was demonstrated.There was also a relation between TV3 wave amplitude (in mm) and plasma K+/Ca++ ratio (in mEq/1).A survey of the literature shows that such relations have not been observ-ed in the human. Conclusions and Summary1. Two groups of patients suffering from myocardial infarction observed by a consultant physician in cardiology, have been the subject of a statistical study. The one group consisted of hospital patients, one other of patients in private practice.2. The object of this study was :a) to conduct research into possible differences in symptomatology of the disease between the two groups;b) to establish, for our area, clinical and electrocardiographic criteria which might serve as the basis for an objective therapeutic study.3. In addition, the influence of two types of therapeutic—with antispasmodics alone or anticoagulants with antispasmodics—has been considered.
