Abstract

Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) is biosynthetic aliphatic polyester with good biocompatibility and biodegradability. In this paper, PHBV biodegradable fibers were manufactured by melt-spinning, and the drawing procedure and heat setting of the fibers were applied. By X-ray diffraction, SEM and stress-strain measurements, the crystalline and mechanical properties of PHBV fibers were investigated. The results showed that β-form crystals were obtained in some PHBV fibers. Surface fibrillation phenomenon occurred in the oriented PHBV fibers. The tensile strength of PHBV fibers increased with increasing the draw ratio. The tensile strength of 10 times stretched PHBV fibers can reach 227 MPa.

48. Synthesis and Growth Mechanism of NbSe2 Nanostructures

Abstract

Nb and Se elements were encapsulated in a quartz ampoules (Ø8×100mm), Then heated to 750℃ and keep the quartz ampoules at corresponding temperature for 1h. Nanowires of NbSe2 were obtained. This method is simple and minimizes the pollution. The nanostructure was investigated by XRD、EDAX、SEM、TEM and HRTEM. The results show that the nanostructures have outer diameters in the 40~200nm range, with lengths in excess of several hundred nanometers. Besides, growth process of nano- structure was discussed.

49. Structure and Magnetic Properties of Sm-Fe-N Prepared by Nitriding High Purity Sm2Fe17 Grown from Sm-Rich Melt

Abstract

We report on a novel method for preparation of high purity Sm2Fe17 phase by removing the liquid impurity phase from the Sm-rich precursor at high temperatures. With decreasing Sm addition, the percentage of liquid phase left as impurity is decreasing. Nitrogen absorption to the Sm2Fe17 powders results in a complete formation of Sm2Fe17N3, which shows a weak disproportionation reaction at 773 K. The magnetic performance of the Sm2Fe17N3 from precursors with different Sm content is improving with decreasing Sm content.

50. Reduced Recoil Loop Area in Zr Doped α-Fe/Nd2Fe14B Nanocomposite Alloys

Abstract

The recoil behavior of melt-spun ribbons of Zr-doped α-Fe/Nd2Fe14B alloys has been investigated by analyzing hysteresis curves and recoil loops of demagnetization curves. A drastic increase of the coercivity Hc from 620kA/m to 855kA/m at room temperature by an addition of 1at.% Zr in α-Fe/Nd2Fe14B alloys has been observed. According to integrated recoil loop area, it is found that the maximum value of the integrated recoil area for Zr-doped sample (3.05 kJ/m3) is significantly lower (about 7 times) than that value for the Zr-free sample (20.9 kJ/m3). The reason of reduced recoil loop area in high coercivity α-Fe/Nd2Fe14B nanocomposite alloys by Zr addition was discussed in term of the process of irreversible magnetization reversal also.
