Abstract

The article provides an understanding of the management of hypotension in very low-birth-weight (VLBW) infant during the Golden Hour of infant resuscitation. Importance is given on the need for a clinician to determine the causes of neonatal hypotension, including hypovolemia, infection, maternal anesthesia and pneumothorax. Also a clinical manifestation of hypotension is shock, either it be compensated, uncompensated, or irreversible. Treatment options include fluid resuscitation, use of vasopressors, respiratory support and temperature stabilization.
