US. Navy has designed a unique incentive built-in program and a design procedure under there Virginia-class submarine program. The contract is shared between the General Dynamics Corp and the Northrop grumman corp.

U.S. Navy announce invitation for contractors to bid on for systems architecture engineering contract. The contract calls for command and control systems for computing standards for anti-air warfare systems, mine warfare systems and electronic warfare and support systems.

The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) has recommended in a new report that the U.S. Navy postpone funding the Boeing F/A-18E/F program. The F/A-18E/F program, which involves development of the new Super Hornet, has been plagued by performance deficiencies such as wing drop and cooling problems. Pentagon officials, who have downplayed the significance of the GAO report, have promised to continue to request multiyear funding for the F/A-18E/F program.

Lockheed Martin's Sanders unit, which has a contract with the US Navy to develop the AN/ALQ-214 Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) system for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, has reported cost overruns and delays. The IDECM system contract will cost another $52 million, which will be absorbed by the program, and be delayed by fifteen months.

The High Speed Vessel 2 (HSV) Swift, one of the U.S. Navy's prototypes for its Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is being leased by the Navy for use as a test platform for LCS development and the Navy will award the LCS final design and option of construction contract to one or two of the competing teams headed by General Dynamics' Bath Ironworks, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. The Swift that is currently serving as an interim Mine Warfare Command and Support ship (MCS) is also involved in anti-surface ship warfare (ASUW) and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) experiments that will be the focus of the LCS' capabilities.
