Energy consumption has become the challenge especially in developing countries such as India and China. In recent times, increasing fears about the environmental impressions of energy consumption and global warming has exaggerated this concern. The building sector is consuming one-fourth of the share at state level power consumption in Punjab where the procurement of coal even becomes the challenge and thermal plants needs to be stopped leading to almost blackout in the state. This paper examines the energy saving conformations leading to reduction in energy management of the building. To achieve this, a residential building is modeled in Design builder software and simulation is carried with Energy Plus integrated tool. In this paper, simulation were carried out with variety of double glass formations with infill material such as argon and air in gap of 12 mm. Full year simulation was performed for the composite climate. Simulation results indicated the considerable reduction in solar gains by 28.28% and cooling load by 27.08%. Further, initial assessment was carried out by calculating approximately the cost of double glass unit and payback period for different window formations. It is recommended to use the double glass unit empanelled window formation which has the potential to reduce the electricity bill considerably. Due to the growing population, the physiological needs of the human like food, water and accommodations are no easily accessed resources. The indiscriminate increase in population raise the water requirement and further which generates the more amount of domestic waste. Due to untreated domestic waste, out natural resources of water such as river, canals, ponds, etc. are getting contaminated. In order to save the water and make the environment sustainable, the wastewater has to process before disposed-off. This paper focus on the process and effectiveness of traditional Sewage Treatment Plants in current times when the pollution is increasing day by day due to urbanization where rural area is also get effected. The study area is Bambianwala STP situated in Jalandhar region of Punjab, India which has the treatment capacity of 10 MLD. Primarily, the STP collects the wastewater from domestic area with gravity flow and without any pumping. In this study, the parameters of pH, TKN, P, N, SO4 along with temperature has been considered and effectives of the treatment unit has been analysed. From the analysis it has been observed that STP system performs better in Pre-monsoon season than in the Post-Monsoon season. Identification of rice varieties automatically is very exigent task in the field of image processing and that necessitates extensive knowledge of agricultural research and the use of computational artificial intelligence technology. The development of Automatic Rice Variety Identification System using machine as well as computer vision, machine learning and deep learning techniques is the need of hour to solve this problem. Automatic Rice Variety Identification System identifies the variety of the rice grains by comparing it with trained system. It is very challenging task due to distinct qualities of grains of numerous rice varieties available in the market and having unique inherent features. In this paper, a prototype of Automatic Rice Variety Identification System is proposed. In the proposed system, a Rice Image dataset has been prepared from different rice varieties grown in Punjab. Mathematics as self-discipline is regarded to be one of the toughest subjects among students. To make this toughest to simplest, few things need to be cultivated inside you. Study habits are one of those things that have been found very useful in the academic success of a student. It is one key for a pupil to recognize and increase expertise in mathematics. These habits need to targeted and practiced at the early stages. There are higher probabilities that it would be a long-term asset for one. The current paper examined the impact of the study habits of school students on mathematics achievement. A sample of 200 students was chosen using random sampling from Government Senior Secondary Schools in Patiala District, Punjab. Questionnaires have been drawn to accumulate records of students' study habits. Students' outcomes in mathematics had been additionally been collected from their achievement in mathematics. Statistical tools has been used to analyze the data. It was concluded that students with good study habits exhibit higher mathematics achievement than students with low study habits. Radon is considered a significant contaminant that is second most frequent cause of lung cancer after cigarette smoking. The estimation of radon gas and its exhalation rates in soil is helpful to study many health hazards due to radon. The present research work deal with the estimation of radon and thoron concentrations along with annual effective dose rate due to both radon and thoron in Shaheed Bhagat Singh District of Punjab. This paper also shows radon concentrations, radon mass and surface exhalation rates and radium content in some of the soil samples.It has been found that radon and thoron levels in air varies from 34.6 Bqm−3 to 135.5 Bqm−3 and from 56.9 Bqm-3 to 94.1 Bqm-3 with mean values of 65.8 Bqm−3 and 73.6 Bqm− 3, respectively. Annual effective dose rates due to radon and thoron are comes out to be 1.9 mSv and 1.8 mSv, respectively. In soil of SBS District the radon concentration varies from 104.4 Bq.m−3 to 303.3 Bq.m−3 with the average value of 175 Bq.m-3. It has been shown that radon mass exhalation rate varies from 2.4mBq.kg-1.h-1 to 7.0mBq.kg-1.h-1 with average value of 4.0mBq.kg−1.h-1. Radon surface exhalation rate varies from 10.0mBq.m−2.h−1 to 29.1mBq.m−2.h−1 with average value of 16.8mBq.m−2.h−1. The radium content in soil samples varies from 1.6 Bq.kg−1 to 4.7 Bq.kg−1 with the average value of 2.7 Bq.kg−1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Contamination in ground water with fluoride is one of the foremost challenge in Indiaparticularly in certain states of India including Punjab. Natural sources of presence of fluoride in groundwater include dissolution of fluoride bearing rock minerals, whereas anthropogenic sources include the use of phosphate fertilizers, sewage sludge, coal burning, etc. Fluoride when ingested beyond the permissible range causes dental and skeletal fluorosis. Fluoride toxicity is causing serious health hazards in residents of Punjab. Various cost-effective and simple water defluorination techniques like adsorption, coagulation-precipitation, ion-exchange, etc. are known. Due to lack of awareness, rural population has not been benefitted much from such techniques. There is an urgent need to undertake a geological and geophysical survey to analyze the fluoride content in groundwater in the Malwa belt of Punjab so that workable strategy can be planned and developed to make groundwater potable. This paper presents the analysis of the Malwa belt of Punjab, which is highly contaminated with fluoride, and its impact on health and also suggests different remedial measures which can be adopted to decrease the fluoride content from water in rural areas.
