A new constructive solution of a concrete support in a mesh metal cage with external metal frames and a protective concrete layer is proposed. The procedure of rationalization of this constructive solution is held on the basis of energy principles, where the minimization of potential energy of deformation serves as a criterion for rationalization. The problem of determining of the contact stresses between the concrete core and the mesh cage, which depends on the attributes of the cage and the frames, is also solved. In this paper, the numerical analysis of the emerging contact stresses, the values of the potential deformation energy (PDE) and the density of the potential energy of deformations (DPDE) for supports of different heights and diameters is given. As the variable internal parameters while solving this problem were identified the sheet thickness of the mesh cage, the size of its cells, the cross section and the step of the frames; as the external ones – the diameter and the height of the support itself. Since the geometric characteristics of the cage are values that are selected from the existing assortment given by manufacturers, a number of most commonly used variants were considered.
