In the current situation, the rapid growth of the infrastructure causes a shortage of suitable construction sites. Engineers are therefore compelled to use soft deposits on ground that has a poor bearing capacity and a high compressibility. As a result, before starting development on such deposits, the ground needs to be improved. One of the efficient solutions to these problems is consolidation with vertical drain. The purpose of the current study is to preload with pre-fabricated vertical drains in order to reclaim the soft ground. The undisturbed samples taken from the borehole are put through a laboratory consolidation test with various load increments in order to construct the preloading scheme using PVDs. During the test, readings for the time-settlement were also taken. The compression index of the clay and the vertical and horizontal consolidation co-efficients, which are 0.9, 1.5 m
2 /year and 3 m2 /year, respectively, are determined by analysing the results of the consolidation tests. The marine clay's total primary consolidation settling is estimated to be 1.182 m (1,182 mm). The preloading suggested is 90kN/m2 to achieve 95% consolidation prior to construction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published
