Nous concentrons ici notre attention sur la toute derniere production de Werewere Liking – Le Parler-Chanter et Medee – que nous avons traduite en italien. Auteur de pieces de theâtre, d’essais et de romans, mais aussi metteur en scene, peintre et ecrivain, elle est originaire du Cameroun et, en 1985, a fonde a Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) un groupe de creation artistique panafricain : la communaute du Village Ki-Yi. S’agissant d’œuvres creees en vue de la representation scenique, plus aptes a etre vues que lues, nous analysons les traits essentiels de ces textes, les multiples options offertes par la traduction et surtout les resultats obtenus. This article will focus on the last theatre production of Werewere Liking – Le Parler-Chanter and Medee – that I had the opportunity to translate into Italian. Born in Cameroon and currently living in Ivory Coast, where she created a group of artists coming from all over Africa, she is not only a playwright, but also a talented essayist, stage director, novelist, and painter. The language used by the author, the multiple translation choices, and the overall quality of the translation will be discussed and analysed.
