The article focuses on several art objects crafted by Chinese artists in relations to issues that confronted Chinese people during their stay in Canada. The first painting is "John Chinaman," by Sharyn Yuen. The painting depicts 11 life-size white handmade paper suit jackets, which are allegedly made for Chinese workers who complete the railway and then had to face the head tax. As a design of these jackets, there are also several head tax certificates and statistics from the Chinese Immigration Act which discloses that Chinese workers were once recruited to do the most dangerous work. Aside from "John Chinamana," the painting "Well Wisher II," by Mary Sui Yee Wong and the photograph "I Am Who I Am," by Gu Xiong are also mentioned.
