Abstract

Focuses on the phenomenon of refractory hypertension (rHTN) after acortic dissection (AD) and the incidence of and risk associated with rHTN. Use of aggressive medical therapy and close clinical observation as a reasonable approach to the management of early rHTN following AD; Conclusion that rHTN is a common complication of type B acute aortic syndromes and typically resolves by discharge.
