The article deals with the ineffective media coverage during the Hurricane Katrina tragedy in New Orleans in 2005. The events leading to the flooding were characterized as being chaotic, so that accounts that were printed in newspapers proved inaccurate. The author's own experience of self-correction after an erroneous report resulted in other news organizations debunking myths about violence in the city. It was emphasized in the succeeding reports that earlier reports about the chaos were false. Negative reactions were also given, claiming that mainstream media once again failed.
