Abstract

The article discusses a court case concerning environmental remediation against Appleton Papers Inc. which was found liable for about $670 million in cleanup cost by the jurors in the state court of Green Bay, Wisconsin. It presents the background of the case involving the dumping of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The lawsuit filed by insurer Columbia Casualty Co. in June 2005 is explained.
