In this study, a flow injection chemiluminescent method was developed for determination of ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA). Determination of EDTA was achieved via the quenching of chemiluminescent (CL) signal of KMnO4-Na2SO3-H2O2 system, in which [image omitted] was found to be the main emitter. Under optimum analytical conditions, a detection limit of 4 × 10-13 M (3σ) and linear dynamic range of 2 × 10-12-5 × 10-6 M was obtained for EDTA. Relative standard deviation for 1 × 10-9 M EDTA was 1.5% (n = 11). Proposed method is simple, rapid with high sensitivity, and has wide linear range. Method was applied to the determination of EDTA in canned foods with satisfactory results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
