Lithium–sulfur (Li−S) batteries are promising due to ultrahigh theoretical energy density. However, their cycling lifespan is crucially affected by the electrode kinetics of lithium polysulfides. Herein, the polysulfide solvation structure is correlated with polysulfide electrode kinetics towards long‐cycling Li−S batteries. The solvation structure derived from strong solvating power electrolyte induces fast anode kinetics and rapid anode failure, while that derived from weak solvating power electrolyte causes sluggish cathode kinetics and rapid capacity loss. By contrast, the solvation structure derived from medium solvating power electrolyte balances cathode and anode kinetics and improves the cycling performance of Li−S batteries. Li−S coin cells with ultra‐thin Li anodes and high‐S‐loading cathodes deliver 146 cycles and a 338 Wh kg−1 pouch cell undergoes stable 30 cycles. The inferior activity and stability of non‐noble metal‐based electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) seriously limit their practical applications in various electrochemical energy conversion systems. Here we report, a drastic nonequilibrium precipitation approach to construct a highly disordered crystal structure of layered double hydroxides as a model OER catalyst. The unconventional crystal structure contains high‐density cationic defects coupled with a local alkaline‐enriched environment, enabling ultrafast diffusion of OH− ions and thus avoiding the formation of a local acidic environment and dissolution of active sites during OER. An integrated experimental and theoretical study reveals that high‐density cationic defects, especially di‐cationic and multi‐cationic defects, serve as highly active and durable catalytic sites. Although great successes have been achieved, the preparation of closed‐loop recyclable polyesters with high working temperatures still remains as a big challenge. Herein, we present the syntheses of a series of enantiopure bicyclic ether‐ester monomers by upcycling of poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) bioplastic. The "living"/controlled ring‐opening polymerizations of these enantiopure monomers to produce stereoregular polyesters with controlled molecular weights and well‐defined chain ends were achieved. The effects of stereoconfiguration and substituent on polymerization kinetics and thermodynamics as well as the thermal properties of resultant polyesters were investigated. Of note, the stereoregular polyesters are semi‐crystalline materials with melting temperatures up to 176 °C, even higher than the commodity polyolefin plastics. Tailoring the properties of solid‐state organic luminescent materials using a bottom‐up design principle is highly desirable for many applications. Herein, we present a "macrocycle‐to‐framework" strategy to construct macrocycle‐functionalized and hydrazone‐linked functional organic polymers with bright yellowish‐green luminescence and unique solvatochromism behaviors by the condensation of a diacylhydrazine‐functionalized pillar[5]arene with tris(4‐formylbiphenyl)amine. Outperforming their non‐macrocycle‐incorporated counterparts, the pillar[5]arene‐containing materials display amplified sensitivity to acidic conditions with luminescent and colorimetric dual‐modal patterns assisted by the enhanced intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), and exhibit satisfactory responsiveness to nitrobenzene compounds through rapid luminescence quenching with high selectivity and a low detection limit, where the sensing process proceeds through multiple dynamic quenching pathways. β‐Lactam antibiotics are generally perceived as one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century, and these small molecular compounds have saved millions of lives. However, upon clinical application of antibiotics, the β‐lactamase secreted by pathogenic bacteria can lead to the gradual development of drug resistance. β‐Lactamase is a hydrolase that can efficiently hydrolyze and destroy β‐lactam antibiotics. It develops and spreads rapidly in pathogens, and the drug‐resistant bacteria pose a severe threat to human health and development. As a result, detecting and inhibiting the activities of β‐lactamase are of great value for the rational use of antibiotics and the treatment of infectious diseases. At present, many specific detection methods and inhibitors of β‐lactamase have been developed and applied in clinical practice. In this Minireview, we describe the resistance mechanism of bacteria producing β‐lactamase and further summarize the fluorogenic probes, inhibitors of β‐lactamase, and their applications in the treatment of infectious diseases. It may be valuable to design fluorogenic probes with improved selectivity, sensitivity, and effectiveness to further identify the inhibitors for β‐lactamases and eventually overcome bacterial resistance. The cycle life of high‐energy‐density lithium−sulfur (Li−S) batteries is severely plagued by the incessant parasitic reactions between Li metal anodes and reactive Li polysulfides (LiPSs). Encapsulating Li‐polysulfide electrolyte (EPSE) emerges as an effective electrolyte design to mitigate the parasitic reactions kinetically. Nevertheless, the rate performance of Li−S batteries with EPSE is synchronously suppressed. Herein, the sacrifice in rate performance by EPSE is circumvented while mitigating parasitic reactions by employing hexyl methyl ether (HME) as a co‐solvent. The specific capacity of Li−S batteries with HME‐based EPSE is nearly not decreased at 0.1 C compared with conventional ether electrolytes. With an ultrathin Li metal anode (50 μm) and a high‐areal‐loading sulfur cathode (4.4 mgS cm−2), a longer cycle life of 113 cycles was achieved in HME‐based EPSE compared with that of 65 cycles in conventional ether electrolytes at 0.1 C. Furthermore, both high energy density of 387 Wh kg−1 and stable cycle life of 27 cycles were achieved in a Li−S pouch cell (2.7 Ah). An unprecedented electrochemical trifluoromethylation/SO2 insertion/cyclization process has been achieved in an undivided cell in an atom‐economic fashion. The protocol relies on tandem cyclization of N‐cyanamide alkenes by using Langlois' reagent as a source of both CF3 and SO2 under direct anodically oxidative conditions, in which two C−C bonds, two C−X bonds (N−S and S−C), and two rings were formed in a single operation. Photocatalytic overall water splitting has been recognized as a promising approach to convert solar energy into hydrogen. However, most of the photocatalysts suffer from low efficiencies mainly because of poor charge separation. Herein, taking a model semiconductor gallium nitride (GaN) as an example, we uncovered that photogenerated electrons and holes can be spatially separated to the nonpolar and polar surfaces of GaN nanorod arrays, which is presumably ascribed to the different surface band bending induced by the surface polarity. The photogenerated charge separation efficiency of GaN can be enhanced significantly from about 8 % to more than 80 % via co‐exposing polar and nonpolar surfaces. Furthermore, spatially assembling reduction and oxidation cocatalysts on the nonpolar and polar surfaces remarkably boosts photocatalytic overall water splitting, with the quantum efficiency increased from 0.9 % for the film photocatalyst to 6.9 % for the nanorod arrays photocatalyst. The dye and pigment manufacturing industry is one of the most polluting in the world. Each year, over one million tons of petrochemical colorants are produced globally, the synthesis of which generates a large amount of waste. Naturally occurring, plant‐based dyes, on the other hand, are resource intensive to produce (land, water, energy), and are generally less effective as colorants. Between these two extremes would be synthetic dyes that are fully sourced from biomass‐derived intermediates. The present work describes the synthesis of such compounds, containing strong chromophores that lead to bright colors in the yellow to red region of the visible spectrum. The study was originally motivated by an early report of an unidentified halomethylfurfural derivative which resulted from hydrolysis in the presence of barium carbonate, now characterized as a butenolide of 5‐(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF). We have observed solid‐state growth of pre‐existing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) upon exposure to trace (ppb) concentrations of reactive gases at room temperature. The consequent change in localized surface plasmon resonances alters the visible absorbance of dried, printed sensor spots made from inks of 10 nm‐AgNPs and provides a novel mechanism for trace detection and dosimetry of reactive gases. Colorimetric sensor arrays based on these AgNP inks offer dosimetric identification of acidic and oxidizing gases and other reactive vapors with limits of detection below ppb levels for 1 h exposures. For an array of AgNP inks with various capping agents, a unique color response pattern is observed for each specific analyte. Excellent discrimination among 11 reactive gases was demonstrated using standard chemometric methods. The chemically induced sintering of NPs paves the way for novel solid‐state sensors for the ultrasensitive detection of reactive gases and their application to the monitoring of trace airborne pollutants. Practical lithium–sulfur (Li−S) batteries are severely plagued by the instability of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) formed in routine ether electrolytes. Herein, an electrolyte with 1,3,5‐trioxane (TO) and 1,2‐dimethoxyethane (DME) as co‐solvents is proposed to construct a high‐mechanical‐stability SEI by enriching organic components in Li−S batteries. The high‐mechanical‐stability SEI works compatibly in Li−S batteries. TO with high polymerization capability can preferentially decompose and form organic‐rich SEI, strengthening mechanical stability of SEI, which mitigates crack and regeneration of SEI and reduces the consumption rate of active Li, Li polysulfides, and electrolytes. Meanwhile, DME ensures high specific capacity of S cathodes. Accordingly, the lifespan of Li−S batteries increases from 75 cycles in routine ether electrolyte to 216 cycles in TO‐based electrolyte. Switchable surface redox chemistry is demonstrated in gold@iron/iron oxide core-shell nanoparticles with ambient oxidation and plasmon-mediated reduction to modulate the oxidation state of shell layers. The iron shell can be oxidized to iron oxide through ambient oxidation, leading to an enhancement and red-shift of the gold surface plasmon resonance (SPR). This enhanced gold SPR can drive reduction of the iron oxide shell under broadband illumination to reversibly blue-shift and significantly dampen gold SPR absorption. Vortex flow fields are widely used to manipulate objects at the microscale in microfluidics. Previous approaches to produce the vortex flow field mainly focused on inertia flows. It remains a challenge to create vortexes in Stokes flow regime. Here we reported an evaporation induced spontaneous vortex flow system in Stokes flow regime by engineering Marangoni flow in a micro‐structured microfluidic chip. The Marangoni flow is created by nonuniform evaporation of surfactant solution. Various vortexes are constructed by folding the air–water interface via microstructures. Patterns of vortexes are programmable by designing the geometry of the microstructures and are predictable using numerical simulations. Moreover, rotation of micro‐objects and enrichment of micro‐particles using vortex flow is demonstrated. This approach to create vortexes will provide a promising platform for various microfluidic applications such as biological analysis, chemical synthesis, and nanomaterial assembly. The design of efficient heavy atom‐free triplet photosensitizers (PSs) based on through bond charge transfer (TBCT) features is a formidable challenge due to the criteria of orthogonal donor‐acceptor geometry. Herein, we propose using parallel (face‐to‐face) conformation carbazole‐bodipy donor‐acceptor dyads (BCZ‐1 and BCZ‐2) featuring through space intramolecular charge transfer (TSCT) process as efficient triplet PS. Efficient intersystem crossing (ΦΔ=61 %) and long‐lived triplet excited state (τT=186 μs) were observed in the TSCT dyad BCZ‐1 compared to BCZ‐3 (ΦΔ=0.4 %), the dyad involving TBCT, demonstrating the superiority of the TSCT approach over conventional donor‐acceptor system. Moreover, the transient absorption study revealed that TSCT dyads have a faster charge separation and slower intersystem crossing process induced by charge recombination compared to TBCT dyad. A long‐lived charge‐separated state (CSS) was observed in the BCZ‐1 (τCSS=24 ns). For the first time, the TSCT dyad was explored for the triplet‐triplet annihilation upconversion, and a high upconversion quantum yield of 11 % was observed. Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries are regarded as promising high‐energy‐density energy storage devices. However, the cycling stability of Li–S batteries is restricted by the parasitic reactions between Li metal anodes and soluble lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). Encapsulating LiPS electrolyte (EPSE) can efficiently suppress the parasitic reactions but inevitably sacrifices the cathode sulfur redox kinetics. To address the above dilemma, a redox comediation strategy for EPSE is proposed to realize high‐energy‐density and long‐cycling Li–S batteries. Concretely, dimethyl diselenide (DMDSe) is employed as an efficient redox comediator to facilitate the sulfur redox kinetics in Li–S batteries with EPSE. DMDSe enhances the liquid–liquid and liquid–solid conversion kinetics of LiPS in EPSE while maintains the ability to alleviate the anode parasitic reactions from LiPSs. Consequently, a Li–S pouch cell with a high energy density of 359 Wh kg−1 at cell level and stable 37 cycles is realized. This work provides an effective redox comediation strategy for EPSE to simultaneously achieve high energy density and long cycling stability in Li–S batteries and inspires rational integration of multi‐strategies for practical working batteries. Single‐cell epigenetics is envisioned to decipher manifold epigenetic phenomena and to contribute to our accurate knowledge about basic epigenetic mechanisms. Engineered nanopipette technology has gained momentum in single‐cell studies; however, solutions to epigenetic questions remain unachieved. This study addresses the challenge by exploring N6‐methyladenine (m6A)‐bearing deoxyribozyme (DNAzyme) confined within a nanopipette for profiling a representative m6A‐modifying enzyme, fat mass and obesity‐associated protein (FTO). Electroosmotic intracellular extraction of FTO could remove the m6A and cause DNAzyme cleavage, leading to the altered ionic current signal. Because the cleavage can release a DNA sequence, we simultaneously program it as an antisense strand against FTO‐mRNA, intracellular injection of which has been shown to induce early stage apoptosis. Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries have drawn increasing attention due to the intrinsic safety, cost‐effectiveness and high energy density. However, parasitic reactions and non‐uniform dendrite growth on the Zn anode side impede their application. Herein, a multifunctional additive, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (NHP), is introduced to regulate uniform zinc deposition and to suppress side reactions. The results show that the NH4+ tends to be preferably absorbed on the Zn surface to form a "shielding effect" and blocks the direct contact of water with Zn. Moreover, NH4+ and (H2PO4)− jointly maintain pH values of the electrode‐electrolyte interface. Consequently, the NHP additive enables highly reversible Zn plating/stripping behaviors in Zn//Zn and Zn//Cu cells. Furthermore, the electrochemical performances of Zn//MnO2 full cells and Zn//active carbon (AC) capacitors are improved. The development of emerging rechargeable batteries is often hindered by limited chemical understanding composing of entangled patterns in an enormous space. Herein, we propose an interpretable hybrid machine learning framework to untangle intractable degradation chemistries of conversion‐type batteries. Rather than being a black box, this framework not only demonstrates an ability to accurately forecast lithium‐sulfur batteries (with a test mean absolute error of 8.9 % for the end‐of‐life prediction) but also generate useful physical understandings that illuminate future battery design and optimization. The framework also enables the discovery of a previously unknown performance indicator, the ratio of electrolyte amount to high‐voltage‐region capacity at the first discharge, for lithium‐sulfur batteries complying practical merits. A novel distal radical rearrangement of alkoxyphosphine is developed for the first time and applied to the regioselective radical fluoroalkylphosphorylation of unactivated olefins. By employing a one‐pot two‐step reaction of (bis)homoallylic alcohols, organophosphine chlorides, and fluoroalkyl iodides under CFL (compact fluorescence light) irradiation, a series of fluoroalkylphosphorylated alkyl iodides and alcohols are easily synthesized by regiospecific installing a phosphonyl onto the inner carbon of terminal olefins and further iodination/hydroxylation. Mechanism studies reveal that the migration undergoes a distinctive radical cyclization/β‐scission on the lone electron pair of phosphorus, resulting in C−P bond formation and C−O bond cleavage. A cooperative OSDA strategy is demonstrated, leading to novel high‐silica FAU zeolites with a large potential for disruptive acid catalysis. In bottom‐up synthesis, the symbiosis of choline ion (Ch+) and 15‐crown‐5 (CE) was evidenced, in a form of full occupation of the sodalite (sod) cages with the trans Ch+ conformer, induced by the CE presence. CE itself occupied the supercages along with additional gauche Ch+, but in synthesis without CE, no trans was found. The cooperation, and thus the fraction of trans Ch+, was closely related to the Si/Al ratio, a key measure for FAU stability and acidity. As such, a bottom‐up handle for lowering the Al‐content of FAU and tuning its acid site distribution is shown. A mechanistic study demonstrated that forming sod cages with trans Ch+ is key to the nucleation of high‐silica FAU zeolites. We demonstrate a new approach to pattern functional organic molecules with a template of foams, and achieve a resolution of sub 100 nm. The bubble‐assisted assembly (BAA) process is consisted of two periods, including bubble evolution and molecular assembly, which are dominated by the Laplace pressure and molecular interactions, respectively. Using TPPS (meso‐tetra(4‐sulfonatophenyl) porphyrin), we systematically investigate the patterns and assembly behaviour in the bubble system with a series of characterizations, which show good uniformity in nanoscale resolution. Theoretical simulations reveal that TPPS's J‐aggregates contribute to the ordered construction of molecular patterns. Finally, we propose an empirical rule for molecular patterning approach, that the surfactant and functional molecules should have the same type of charge in a two‐component system. Precise separation and localization of microdroplets are fundamental for various fields, such as high‐throughput screening, combinatorial chemistry, and the recognition of complex analytes. We have developed a droplet self‐splitting strategy to divide an impacting droplet into predictable microdroplets and deposit them at preset spots for simultaneous multidetection. No matter exchange was observed between these microdroplets, so they could be manipulated independently. Droplet self‐splitting was attributed to anisotropic liquid recoiling on the patterned adhesive surface, as influenced by the droplet Weber number and the width of the low‐adhesive stripe. A quantitative criterion was also developed to judge the droplet self‐splitting capability. Monoamine oxidases have two functionally distinct but structurally similar isoforms (MAO‐A and MAO‐B). The ability to differentiate them by using fluorescence detection/imaging technology is of significant biological relevance, but highly challenging with available chemical tools. Herein, we report the first MAO‐A‐specific two‐photon fluorogenic probe (F1), capable of selective imaging of endogenous MAO‐A enzymatic activities from a variety of biological samples, including MAO‐A‐expressing neuronal SY‐SY5Y cells, the brain of tumor‐bearing mice and human Glioma tissues by using two‐photon fluorescence microscopy (TPFM) with minimal cytotoxicity. Programmable assembly of nanoparticles (NPs) into well‐defined architectures has attracted attention because of tailored properties resulting from coupling effects. However, general and precise approaches to control binding modes between NPs remain a challenge owing to the difficulty in manipulating the accurate positions of the functional patches on the surface of NPs. Here, a strategy is developed to encage spherical NPs into pre‐designed octahedral DNA origami frames (DOFs) through DNA base‐pairings. The DOFs logically define the arrangements of functional patches in three dimensions, owing to the programmability of DNA hybridization, and thus control the binding modes of the caged nanoparticle with designed anisotropy. Applying the node‐and‐spacer approach that was widely used in crystal engineering to design coordination polymers, patchy NPs could be rationally designed with lower symmetry encoded to assemble a series of nano‐architectures with high‐order geometries. Interaction of multiple entities and receptors, or multivalency is widely applied to achieve high affinity ligands for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. However, lack of knowledge on receptor distribution in living subjects remains a challenge for rational structure design. Herein, we develop a force measurement platform to probe the distribution and separation of the cell surface vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR) in live cells, and use this to assess the geometry of appropriate linkers for distinct multivalent binding modes. A tetravalent lead ZD‐4, which was developed from an antitumor drug ZD6474 (Vandetanib) with combined hybrid binding effects, yielded a 2000‐fold improvement in the binding affinity to VEGFR with IC50 value of 25 pm. We confirmed the improved affinity by the associated increase of tumor uptake in the VEGFR‐targeting positron emission tomography (PET) imaging using U87 tumor xenograft mouse model. Selective and deterministic assembly of particles is fundamentally significant for manufacturing functional devices. However, it is still a challenge to precisely and facilely manipulate particles of different sizes into different assembly patterns. Herein, a method is presented to achieve precise control over the formation of binary or ternary particle size‐sorted assemblies. We investigate the assembly process of particles by capillary confinement and show that different size‐sorted assemblies of multiple components can be realized by tuning the templated dewetting. By controlling the dewetting direction, receding contact angle, and pillar height of the template, assembly of dual‐ring patterns, "comet" structures, and patterns with component separation are regulated. These structures can be further diversified by tuning the composition of the particles. This approach is general for particle assemblies of different sizes and materials, which will be significant for the fabrication of printed micro/nanohybrid devices. An (oxy)nitride-based heterostructure for powdered Z-scheme overall water splitting is presented. Compared with the single MgTa2O6− xN y or TaON photocatalyst, a MgTa2O6− xN y /TaON heterostructure fabricated by a simple one-pot nitridation route was demonstrated to effectively suppress the recombination of carriers by efficient spatial charge separation and decreased defect density. By employing Pt-loaded MgTa2O6− xN y /TaON as a H2-evolving photocatalyst, a Z-scheme overall water splitting system with an apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of 6.8 % at 420 nm was constructed (PtO x-WO3 and IO3−/I− pairs were used as an O2-evolving photocatalyst and a redox mediator, respectively), the activity of which is circa 7 or 360 times of that using Pt-TaON or Pt-MgTa2O6− xN y as a H2-evolving photocatalyst, respectively. An optimized picomolar‐affinity ligand was designed on the basis of the geometry of appropriate linkers for distinct multivalent binding modes. In their Communication on page 5272 ff. Z. Li, S. Jiang, and co‐workers determined the actual distribution and separation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR) on living cells by using a single‐molecule force measurement platform.
