Transition‐metal‐catalyzed [4+4] cycloaddition leading to cyclooctanoids has centered on dimerization between 1,3‐diene‐type substrates. Herein, we describe a [4σ+4π−1] and [4σ+4π] cycloaddition strategy to access 7/8‐membered fused carbocycles through rhodium‐catalyzed coupling between the 4σ‐donor (benzocyclobutenones) and pendant diene (4π) motifs. The two pathways can be controlled by adjusting the solvated CO concentration. A broad range (>40 examples) of 5–6–7 and 5–6–8 polyfused carbocycles was obtained in good yields (up to 90 %). DFT calculations, kinetic monitoring and 13C‐labeling experiments were carried out, suggesting a plausible mechanism. Notably, one 5–6–7 tricycle was found to be a very rare, potent, and selective ligand for the liver X receptor β (KD=0.64 μM), which is a potential therapeutic target for cholesterol‐metabolism‐related fatal diseases. Developing efficient and anti‐corrosive oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts is of great importance for the applications of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Herein, we report a novel approach to prepare metal oxides supported intermetallic Pt alloy nanoparticles (NPs) via the reactive metal‐support interaction (RMSI) as ORR catalysts, using Ni‐doped cubic ZrO2 (Ni/ZrO2) supported L10−PtNi NPs as a proof of concept. Benefiting from the Ni migration during RMSI, the oxygen vacancy concentrations in the support are increased, leading to an electron enrichment of Pt. The optimal L10−PtNi−Ni/ZrO2−RMSI catalyst achieves remarkably low mass activity (MA) loss (17.8 %) after 400,000 accelerated durability test cycles in a half‐cell and exceptional PEMFC performance (MA=0.76 A mgPt−1 at 0.9 V, peak power density=1.52/0.92 W cm−2 in H2−O2/−air, and 18.4 % MA decay after 30,000 cycles), representing the best reported Pt‐based ORR catalysts without carbon supports. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that L10−PtNi−Ni/ZrO2−RMSI requires a lower energetic barrier for ORR than L10−PtNi−Ni/ZrO2 (direct loading), which is ascribed to a decreased Bader charge transfer between Pt and *OH, and the improved stability of L10−PtNi−Ni/ZrO2−RMSI compared to L10−PtNi−C can be contributed to the increased adhesion energy and Ni vacancy formation energy within the PtNi alloy. The use of gem‐difluorinated cyclopropanes (gem‐DFCPs) as fluoroallyl surrogates under transition‐metal catalysis has drawn considerable attention recently but such reactions are restricted to producing achiral or racemic mono‐fluoroalkenes. Herein, we report the first enantioselective allylation of indoles under rhodium catalysis with gem‐DFCPs. This reaction shows exceptional branched regioselectivity towards rhodium catalysis with gem‐DFCPs, which provides an efficient route to enantioenriched fluoroallylated indoles with wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. Axially chiral open‐chained olefins are an underexplored class of atropisomers, whose enantioselective synthesis represents a daunting challenge due to their relatively low racemization barrier. We herein report rhodium(I)‐catalyzed hydroarylative cyclization of 1,6‐diynes with three distinct classes of arenes, enabling highly enantioselective synthesis of a broad range of axially chiral 1,3‐dienes that are conformationally labile (ΔG≠(rac)=26.6–28.0 kcal/mol). The coupling reactions in each category proceeded with excellent enantioselectivity, regioselectivity, and Z/E selectivity under mild reaction conditions. Computational studies of the coupling of quinoline N‐oxide system reveal that the reaction proceeds via initial oxidative cyclization of the 1,6‐diyne to give a rhodacyclic intermediate, followed by σ‐bond metathesis between the arene C−H bond and the Rh−C(vinyl) bond, with subsequent C−C reductive elimination being enantio‐determining and turnover‐limiting. The DFT‐established mechanism is consistent with the experimental studies. The coupled products of quinoline N‐oxides undergo facile visible light‐induced intramolecular oxygen‐atom transfer, affording chiral epoxides with complete axial‐to‐central chirality transfer. Abstract: Healable silicone materials have great technical impact in coatings, smart actuators, and flexible electronics, however, current healable silicone materials lack mechanical tunability. Herein, we designed and synthesized a new type of healable silicone through hydrogen‐bond assisted multiphase assembly of siloxane oligomers. Besides the enhanced mechanical strength, unique water‐enhanced healing was observed in the polymer network which is due to the reversible dissociation/association of multivalent hydrogen bonds in the presence of water. The harsh working environments of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) pose huge challenges to the stability of Pt‐based alloy catalysts. The widespread presence of metallic bonds with significantly delocalized electron distribution often lead to component segregation and rapid performance decay. Here we report L10−Pt2CuGa intermetallic nanoparticles with a unique covalent atomic interaction between Pt−Ga as high‐performance PEMFC cathode catalysts. The L10−Pt2CuGa/C catalyst shows superb oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity and stability in fuel cell cathode (mass activity=0.57 A mgPt−1 at 0.9 V, peak power density=2.60/1.24 W cm−2 in H2‐O2/air, 28 mV voltage loss at 0.8 A cm−2 after 30 000 cycles). Theoretical calculations reveal the optimized adsorption of oxygen intermediates via the formed biaxial strain on L10−Pt2CuGa surface, and the durability enhancement stems from the stronger Pt−M bonds than those in L11−PtCu resulted from Pt−Ga covalent interactions. The catalytic allylic substitution is one of the most important tools in asymmetric synthesis to form C−C bonds in an enantioselective way. While high efficiency was previously accomplished in terms of enantio‐ and regiocontrol using different catalyst types, a strong general limitation is a very pronounced preference for the formation of allylic substitution products with (E)‐configured C=C double bonds. Herein, we report that with a planar chiral palladacycle catalyst a diastereospecific reaction outcome is achieved using isoxazolinones and allylic imidates as substrates, thus maintaining the C=C double bond geometry of the allylic substrates in the highly enantioenriched products. DFT calculations show that the reactions proceed via an SN2 mechanism and not via π‐allyl Pd complexes. Crucial for the high control is the stabilization of the allylic fragment in the SN2 transition state by π‐interactions with the phenyl substituents of the pentaphenylferrocenyl catalyst core. A palladium‐catalyzed chemoselective coupling of readily available bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanyl alcohols (BCP−OH) with various halides is reported, which offers expedient approaches to a wide range of cyclobutanone and β,γ‐enone skeletons via single or double C−C activation. The chemistry shows a broad substrate scope in terms of both the range of BCP−OH and halides including a series of natural product derivatives. Moreover, dependency of reaction chemodivergence on base additive has been investigated through experimental and density functional theory (DFT) studies, which is expected to significantly enrich the reaction modes and increase the synthetic potential of BCP−OH in preparing more complex molecules. The efficient synthesis of long, branched, and complex carbohydrates containing multiple 1,2‐cis glycosidic linkages is a long‐standing challenge. Here, we report a merging reagent modulation and 6‐O‐levulinoyl remote anchimeric assistance glycosylation strategy, which is successfully applied to the first highly stereoselective synthesis of the branched Dendrobium Huoshanense glycans and the linear Longan glycans containing up to 30 contiguous 1,2‐cis glucosidic bonds. DFT calculations shed light on the origin of the much higher stereoselectivities of 1,2‐cis glucosylation with 6‐O‐levulinoyl group than 6‐O‐acetyl or 6‐O‐benzoyl groups. Orthogonal one‐pot glycosylation strategy based on glycosyl ortho‐alkynylbenzoates and ortho‐(1‐phenylvinyl)benzoates has been demonstrated in the efficient synthesis of complex glycans, precluding such issues as aglycon transfer inherent to orthogonal one‐pot synthesis based on thioglycosides. Core/shell nanocatalysts are a class of promising materials, which achieve the enhanced catalytic activities through the synergy between ligand effect and strain effect. However, it has been challenging to disentangle the contributions from the two effects, which hinders the rational design of superior core/shell nanocatalysts. Herein, we report precise synthesis of PdCu/Ir core/shell nanocrystals, which can significantly boost oxygen evolution reaction (OER) via the exclusive strain effect. The heteroepitaxial coating of four Ir atomic layers onto PdCu nanoparticle gives a relatively thick Ir shell eliminating the ligand effect, but creates a compressive strain of ca. 3.60%. The strained PdCu/Ir catalysts can deliver a low OER overpotential and a high mass activity. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the compressive strain in Ir shell downshifts the d‐band center and weakens the binding of the intermediates, causing the enhanced OER activity. The compressive strain also boosts hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity and the strained nanocrystals can be served as excellent catalysts for both anode and cathode in overall water‐splitting electrocatalysis. Ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) has become one of the most important living polymerizations. Cyclopropenes (CPEs) remain underexplored for ROMP. Described here is that the simple swap of 1‐methyl to 1‐phenyl on 1‐(benzoyloxymethyl)CPEs elicited strikingly different modes of reactivity, switching from living polymerization to either selective single‐addition or living alternating ROMP. The distinct reactivity stems from differences in steric repulsions at the Ru alkylidene after CPE ring opening. Possible olefin or oxygen chelation from ring‐opened CPE substituents was also observed to significantly affect the rate of propagation. These results demonstrate the versatility of CPEs as a new class of monomers for ROMP, provide mechanistic insights for designing new monomers with rare single‐addition reactivity, and generate a new functionalizable alternating copolymer scaffold with controlled molecular weight and low dispersity. The commercialization of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) relies on highly active and stable electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in acid media. The most successful catalysts for this reaction are nanostructured Pt‐alloy with a Pt‐skin. The synthesis of ultrasmall and ordered L10‐PtCo nanoparticle ORR catalysts further doped with a few percent of metals (W, Ga, Zn) is reported. Compared to commercial Pt/C catalyst, the L10‐W‐PtCo/C catalyst shows significant improvement in both initial activity and high‐temperature stability. The L10‐W‐PtCo/C catalyst achieves high activity and stability in the PEMFC after 50 000 voltage cycles at 80 °C, which is superior to the DOE 2020 targets. EXAFS analysis and density functional theory calculations reveal that W doping not only stabilizes the ordered intermetallic structure, but also tunes the Pt‐Pt distances in such a way to optimize the binding energy between Pt and O intermediates on the surface. The development of superior non-platinum electrocatalysts for enhancing the electrocatalytic activity and stability for the oxygen-reduction reaction (ORR) and liquid fuel oxidation reaction is very important for the commercialization of fuel cells, but still a great challenge. Herein, we demonstrate a new colloidal chemistry technique for making structurally ordered PdCu-based nanoparticles (NPs) with composition control from PdCu to PdCuNi and PtCuCo. Under the dual tuning on the composition and intermetallic phase, the ordered PdCuCo NPs exhibit better activity and much enhanced stability for ORR and ethanol-oxidation reaction (EOR) than those of disordered PdCuM NPs, the commercial Pt/C and Pd/C catalysts. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the improved ORR activity on the PdCuM NPs stems from the catalytically active hollow sites arising from the ligand effect and the compressive strain on the Pd surface owing to the smaller atomic size of Cu, Co, and Ni.
