The paper compares the characteristics of URLs cited in Indian LIS conference proceedings papers. A total of 15,745 references appended to 1,700 articles published in three Indian LIS conference proceedings published during 2001-2010 were selected. From these references we extracted a total of 5698 URLs and were further classified according to their top level domains, file formats and path depths for further analysis. The results showed that the percentage of articles with at least one URL increased from 39.10% in 2001 to 91.67% in 2010. There was a constant and continuous increase in the number of articles with URLs over the years during 2001-2010. Of the 1,700 articles published in conference proceedings, there were 1,011 (59.47%) articles with URLs. Study also reveals the fact that, of the 5,698 URLs, more than 50% were shared by .org and .com domains which accounted for 1,799 (31.57%) and 1,474 (25.87%) URLs respectively. The highest percentage of cited URLs belonged to HTML (68.50%) followed by .pdf files (8.86%). The path depth levels 0 (no path), 2 and 3 collectively accounted for 67.67% of the extracted URLs. The paper presents the analysis of bibliographic data of 72,940 research papers published by six Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee) and indexed in Scopus database during the period 2006-2015. The analysis indicates that the relative citation impact of IIT Roorkee and IIT Bombay are more than other IITs. Works by authors from IIT Kharagpur are cited more than that of other IITs. Physics of Plasma, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, and RSC Advances are the journals most used by the researchers of the six IITs. This study aims to explore the nature of article retractions in India for a time frame of 75 years (1947-2021) by developing a comprehensive primary dataset of 1,376 retracted items, and then merging the dataset as developed with an array of external datasets by deploying data carpentry methods and techniques available in OpenRefine, an open-source data wrangling software. This value addition leads to exploring many new angles of study related to retraction in India, like gender distribution, geospatial distribution, institutional distribution, subject distribution in retraction, relations between journal quality and retraction, identification of serial offenders, relations between citation and retraction, and more importantly, reasons for retraction. It discovers many facts about retraction in India and attempts to represent the findings using a few next-generation visualization techniques. The major findings include the following: retraction in India is growing exponentially, and we are now the 4th highest in retraction on a global scale; the majority of the retracted items are published in quality journals in terms of quartile, impact factor, H-Index, and CiteScore; retracted items are distributed in both close-access and open-access source titles; most retracted items are able to fetch citations (mean citation 19.73), including recent citations; a considerable number of retracted items are authored by serial offenders; the retraction map of India includes the majority of the states and union territories; elite educational and research institutes are equally responsible for retraction, along with not-so-known institutes; text manipulation is still the most visible reason for retraction in India, but data manipulation, and image manipulation are increasing rapidly. The paper attempts to identify the dilemmas faced by the transgender community in India with respect to their social life and information needs. Through a study of literature, the possibilities of introducing community libraries or Library-cum- Resource Centres (LRC) dedicated towards the betterment of transgender community in India have been explored. READ (Rural Education and Development) - a successful community library model has been discussed in the paper which could be adapted and modified to create such initiatives across the transgender populated areas of India. Based on Web of Science data for the period 1987 to 2012, the paper analyses the research carried on mycobacterial tuberculosis and leprosy in India. It is seen that India contributes eight percent to the global research output occupying the third position in terms of quantity of research output and ranks 12th when considering the quality and quantity together. Apart from collaboration pattern, the paper also identifies the major institutions, prolific authors and preferred journals. Three-dimensional performance indicator combining quantity, quality and consistency have been used to rank the productivity of Indian institutions and authors in the field of mycobacterial tuberculosis and leprosy research. From the study it can be concluded that India needs to concentrate more on Mycobacterium research because the cases of tuberculosis and leprosy including multi-drug resistant (MDR) and extensively drug resistant (XDR) strains are emerging each year, and there is a necessity to develop effective controlling programmes for eradicating leprosy. The paper highlights the issues in the prominent copyright case between some big publishers and a Delhi University photocopy shop. The paper also addresses the question whether the present copyright system in India requires a relook in view of the changing socio-economic conditions of our society and the world at large. Concludes that supporting students and researchers in their study and research are essential and some changes are required in the present copyright toward this end. The paper examines development of continuing professional education on digital library in India based on the announcement of postings on LIS-Forum related to seminars, conferences, workshops and short-term training programs on digital libraries held in India during April 2003 to October 2015. The paper finds that 73 continuing professional development programs were held on digital library in India during the period. Due to the increasing amount of information available in digital format, education and training for digital libraries has become necessary. This paper traces one hundred and twenty years journey of Indian physics and astronomy journals. Of the 122 journals that have been published since 1902, 36 journals have ceased publication. The oldest physics related article was published in 1788 in Asiatick Researches, the first Indian research periodical. The oldest Indian astronomy journal Publications of the Maharaja Takhtasingji Observatory came into being in 1902 from Pune and ceased in 1912. The oldest Indian physics journal Bhoutika Kalanidhi or The Treasury of the Physical Sciences started in the year 1911 from Madras (present-day Chennai) and ceased in 1919. In all, 53% of journals belong to broad science discipline but publish articles on physics and astronomy regularly along with other major science disciplines followed by 35% and 12% journals strictly belong to the subject areas, physics, and astronomy respectively. It is observed that nearly 50% of journals are indexed by the Indian Citation Index, while 20% of journals are indexed by the Indian Citation Index, Scopus, and Web of Science. The paper discusses the impact of the current pandemic caused by COVID-19 on the academic libraries in India. It identifies four areas concerned with an academic library namely, space, collection development, service, and the overall management to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by them in view of the COVID-19. It shows how COVID-19 posed several challenges to run the academic libraries in India in comparison to pre-COVID-19 period regarding these areas. It also presents the opportunities to the libraries. This study examined the file naming practices in 39 institutional repositories. There is evidence that calf-path exists in file naming among the curators of institutional repositories in India. The study showed that no standard or logic seems to have been followed by repositories in the naming of the files, except by the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR). The study also examined the composition of the filenames, which shows that the author names (11.2%), titles (11.9%), journal title with volume and issue numbers (21.1%) form the basis for the formation of filenames. Libraries are constantly grappling with ever-escalating cost of scholarly resources. Price escalation in e-resource subscriptions coupled with budgetary constraints has serious impact on libraries across the globe. This paper critically examines the prevalent situations that have been leading to resource sharing; primarily emanated from library cooperatives, interlibrary loan, buying clubs; subsequently changed to utility services, site licensing, and ultimately the Consortium - an emerging toolkit for libraries to survive. The strategic alliances amongst libraries and growth of library consortia have been discussed. The implications of different consortia models to the Indian libraries are explained; which suggests for a sustainable consortia organization among potential partners. The paper also attempts to provide an insight into how consortia strategies can overcome an unending fiscal constraint, and to sustain the buying power in collection development for better access to greater resources. Fourteen Indian research funding agencies have been studied to know their impact on research in India. Natural Language Processing (NLP) was used to segregate and identify the funding acknowledgment from data available in Scopus. SciVal, an analytical tool was used to analyze the data. Tableau software was used to visualize the analyzed data. The impact of 10 years of funding by the 14 funding agencies reveals the consistency of publication output. The number of funded publications addressing the 16 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is very few. The study result indicates the need for a policy change among funding sponsors while considering the high priority areas. It highlights the necessity of considering 16 SDG while funding. The outcome of this study can be used for policy discussions in the promotion of Industry-Institutional collaborative funding and research and policy changes in funding the high priority areas of 16 SDGs in promoting collaborative research and infrastructure. The paper analyzes the research contributions by the faculty members of the Department of Physics, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune, Maharashtra, India for the period 1990-2014. Bibliographic and citation data were retrieved from Scopus database. Query statements covering all variations in the name of SPPU were used to search the database. Scopus indexed 1629 publications with 22618 citations for the period. Author keywords in Scopus database indicate that faculty members are working in core areas of physics as well as interdisciplinary subjects like chemistry, instrumentation sciences, engineering, etc. The year-wise analysis shows that research productivity of faculty member increased over the period. Faculty members published their research in core physics journals among which Journal of Applied Physics (72 papers) is the most preferred journal. The faculty members of the University have collaborated with scientists from USA, UK, Germany and Japan. Based on breast cancer research data obtained from Scopus multidisciplinary database, it is seen that with 6696 (1.82% global share) articles from India on breast cancer during 1975-2014, India ranks 12th in the world in terms of research paper output. About 80% of the Indian publications appeared during the period 2004-14. Hospitals are more productive with Tata Memorial Hospital publishing the highest number of papers during the period. This paper presents the current status of university presses in India, and how they are interlinked with their prestigious fellowship programmes and academic research. Indian university presses were identified from DELNET union catalogue of books. Their publishing patterns are studied based on MIS reports available or generated from their respective websites. The paper also analyzes global visibility and availability of produced knowledge through institutional and external web catalogues, e-commerce sites and utilization of book promotion avenues. It is found that, as of now, Indian university presses don't publish e-books. Organic chemistry as a research area contributes to more than one percent of world publication output. The present paper attempts to draw a detailed, in-depth bibliometric analysis of organic chemistry research activity during the last decade (2004 to 2013) with special emphasis on the Indian contribution. The Indian output is compared with that of world's leading countries using exergy, an indicator which combines quantity and quality of publications. A three-dimensional approach combining quantity, quality and consistency is used for analysing the performance of various institutions and authors. It is found that organic chemistry research activity in India during 2004-2013 is equal to the world average and its growth pattern is positive and similar to the worldwide research growth. India ranks at the 9th position based on the Exergy(X), the performance indicator while USA, Germany and China occupy first, second and third positions.Among others, the most productive organisations and authors are also identified using h-index and z-index. The bibliometric parameters including number of papers, number of citations received, institutional collaborations, productivity of journals, subject categories and authorship pattern have been used to carry out the analysis of the research contributions made by the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry at University of Pune. The data set was collected from the Web of Science (WoS) database for the period of about 14 years (1999-2012). The data reveals that thirty faculty members have published 811 papers in 258 journals with 8948 citations. Most of the papers are published in peer-reviewed international journals having high impact factor. These are core journals in the field of chemistry being published in the countries like USA, UK and Germany, etc. The study reveals that there is a continuous growth in publications. About 30% of the papers were published during 2010-2012. The average number of citations received per paper is 11.03. The highest number of citations (905) were received for 41 papers published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry A. This study indicates that majority of the papers published are in the area of physical chemistry. This study focuses on the Indian research output in osteoporosis, one of the leading causes of fractures and disability in the aged. The data for this study was obtained from Scopus database for the period 1973-2012. The study revealed that USA is the most productive country on osteoporosis research with a global share of 27.21% publications. Indian researchers have contributed 921(1.02%) papers in osteoporosis research. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehli is most productive institution in India on osteoporosis research. It has contributed 8.40% of the total research output and India's highest research collaboration has been with United States (6.08%) during the period of study. Osteoporosis International (21 papers; IF-4.58) is the most productive journal publishing Indian osteoporosis research and N. Impact Factor (IF) is a popular bibliometircs and scientometrics tool for assessing the performance of scholarly journals. But there are many national journals from developing and under developing countries which are not indexed by SCI and are without IF. National journals play a vital role for a country. It is suggested that the performance of a journal cannot be measured by a single indicator. Diffusion of information is a basic notion of publications and citations. So diffusion study has been used to measure the influence of a journal. In this study two Indian non-SCI medical journals, viz., Indian Journal of Cancer and Journal of Communicable Diseases were selected for diffusion measure. New JDF and equivalent IF is calculated using citations data. Data is collected from Elsevier's SCOPUS database for the period of 2001-2010. It is found that there is improvement in Diffusion factors for both journals, but there is significant rise for Indian Journal of Cancer. As Journal of Communicable Disease is cited by more number of countries than Indian Journal of Cancer, so the former is more international in nature. Generally they have published papers mostly from India, but number of foreign authored papers has been increased in IJC. Open access of IJC may be one of the factors for better performance. The study analyses the dementia research output from India during 2002-11 on different parameters including the growth, global publications share, citation impact, share of international collaborative papers, contribution of major collaborative partner countries, contribution of various subject fields and by type of dementia, productivity and impact of most productive institutions and authors and patterns of research communication in most productive journals. SCOPUS Citation Database has been used to retrieve the data for 10 years (2002-11) by searching different relevant keywords in its combined title, abstract and keywords fields. Among the top 20 most productive countries in dementia research, India ranks 16th (with 1109 papers) with a global publication share of 1.24% and an annual average publication growth rate of 25.58% during 2002-11. Its global publication share has increased over the years, rising from 0.54% in 2002 to 2.20% during 2011. Its citation impact per paper was 5.11 during 2002-11, which decreased from 7.29 during 2002-06 to 4.33 during 2007-11. Its international collaborative publications share was 24.54% during 2002-11, which decreased from 28.57% during 2002-06 to 23.07% during 2007-11. India's publications efforts are quiet low considering that to 3.7 million people suffering from dementia in India. It, therefore, needs to increase its output and bring about improvement in the quality of its research efforts. Indian medical and social research funding agencies must establish a more ambitious funding program into the causes, prevention, cure and care of dementia. At the national level, there is a need to have a consultation for evolving research strategies and for delineating specific directions to investigate the etiology, treatment and care provisions for persons involved in dementia. Twelve thousand five hundred and thirty six references appended to 1012 papers published in four Indian LIS journals for the period 2002-2010 revealed that there are 999 conference papers in all with an average of 0.99 conference paper per paper. Journal articles have emerged as the most important source of information among all the four journals followed by Web resources, books and conference proceedings. Analysis of 32,574 papers published by USA, UK, China, India and Brazil in the field of 'plant genetics and breeding' research during 2005-2009 indicates that USA produced the highest number of publications followed by China. The impact of research output as seen by the values of different impact indicators is highest for UK. The sub-domains of emphasis of research shifted in 2009 as compared to 2005 for all countries. India contributed about 9 percent to the world publication output. Indian output formed a part of the mainstream science as seen by the pattern of publication and citation of the research output. The total Indian output originated from 1,806 institutions located in different parts of the country. About 41 percent of the total Indian output was concentrated among 23 institutions. Among the institutions, international institutes located in India had the highest impact. Cholera research in India over the past six decades has been mapped using HistCite. The analysis based on data from Science Citation Index Expanded reveals not only the significant papers, key players, important institutions and core journals, but also provides a visual representation of evolution of knowledge in the field showing the cognitive links between key papers both from within India and elsewhere. An analysis of 2899 papers published by Indian scientists during 1991-2008 and indexed by Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) indicates that the growth of publication output was slow in the initial stages, which started increasing after 2000. The highest output was in the sub-field of molecular genetics. The organisms which received the maximum priority were humans, plants, and animals. A significant proportion of papers were published in journals that originated from the advanced countries of the West and in journals with impact factor >1. About 47% papers were cited more than 5 times. Academic institutions contributed the highest number of papers but had less impact as compared to other performing sectors. The papers published by Indian Council of Agriculture Research had the lowest impact. The present paper compares overall S&T publications output of India, China and South Korea across twenty broad subjects as defined by Scopus bibliographical database in terms of annual growth rate, national publications share, h-index, share of international collaborative papers and high-cited papers. Indicates that China has a clear edge over South Korea and India in terms of global publication share and h-index, but lacks behind in terms of share of international collaborative papers and high-cited papers. Quantitative documentation of the research papers of Nayana Nanda Borthakur published in peer-reviewed journals during 1963-2005 reveals a total of 106 papers to his credit. Collaborative authorship pattern is found to be in the team size of 2-5. Twenty five are single authored papers, 33 two authored, 27 three authored, 17 four authored and four papers are five authored. Two and three authored papers constitute nearly 57% of the total authorship of his papers while single author papers are nearly 10% of the total authorship. Most active researchers in the research group of NN Bortahkur were Arnold NP, Al-Kanani T, Bhartendu S, Donnelly DJ, and Sarjaz-Raeini, M. Collaborative coefficient is 0.76 and productivity coefficient is 0.65 and 54 channels of communication were used to publish his research results of which International Journal of Biometeorology (15) tops the list followed by the Journal of Nuclear Agriculture and Biology (8) and Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis (7). His fifty percentile age is found to be 28 years. Publication concentration is 18.5 and publication density is 2. As depicted in the title tomography, the core area of research was related to evaporation, air ions, electrohydrodynamics (EHD), microwave irradiation, beta-ray gauge technique among others. The present research aims to investigate the open access (OA) friendliness of the twenty-six (26) state universities that have been ranked in the National Institutional Ranking Framework's (2021) 'Overall Category' (Rank Band 1: Top 100). The open-access ranking framework, as designed, is based on four major OA areas: i) proportion of OA publications by a given state university; ii) use of a license in sharing OA publications; iii) citations received by OA publications; and iv) popularity of OA publications in socio-academic web-space as indicated by altmetric attention scores. Ten years (2012-2021) primary publication data for the 26 state universities from Scopus was collected. We analyzed a total of 1,57,971 publications; 1,60,723 citations received by these publications; and altmetric attention scores received by 26,996 publications from these 26 state universities listed in the NIRF 2021 overall category. It applies an open-source data wrangling tool (OpenRefine) and a number of ODbL-based (Open Database License) data sources to gather the necessary data elements required for this large-scale study. The study finds that almost 98% of the state universities enlisted in the top 100 overall category passed the 50 marks on a 100-point scale, and the newly established state universities' open access friendliness is greater than the older ones. The final open access friendliness ranking places King Georges Medical University at the top, with leading scores in areas I (share of OA publications) and III (OA citation share), while Panjab University has the highest value in Area II (use of license in OA publications) and Delhi Technological University has the highest value in Area IV (OA altmetric attention score). The article presents the top library and information science journals (LIS) published from India. These include "Annals of Library and Information Studies, "DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology" and "Information Studies." They publish research papers, short communications, editorials, obituaries, book reviews and reports of conferences and seminars.

The paper identifies the present status of journal publishing in India in the field of library & information science. Identification of journals were made by consulting various sources. The characteristics of the journals have been studied on various parameters like number of years of existence, type of publisher, accessibility, references and citation characteristics, etc. Of the total 72 identified journals, it was observed that almost 70% journals started their publication from 2000 onwards. About 81% journals are available on subscription basis. Print as well as online format for dissemination of research have been adopted by 59% journals, however, 30% journals are still available only in print form. It is seen that private or profit-making (59%) organizations are more interested to publish LIS journals than non-profit making organizations (41%). One of the major drawbacks of Indian LIS journals is there poor visibility and limited coverage in various bibliographical databases. More than 54% journals are not indexed in any important bibliographic database and only 6 journals are indexed in LISA, LISTA or ILSA. The citation statistics of these journals are not satisfactory as 42 journals did not receive any citations for their articles published during 2011-2013. This paper briefly traces the hundred years journey of Indian LIS periodicals. In all, 186 periodicals have been found to be published since 1912, of which 63 periodicals have ceased publication and the remaining 123 are continuing. The oldest periodical entitled Library Miscellany was started in the year 1912 from Baroda and ceased after eight years, in 1920. Another periodical entitled Granthalaya Sarvaswamu that started in 1915 from Vijayawada is still continuing. It is a bilingual periodical and publishes articles both in English and Telugu. This periodical may be reckoned as the oldest Indian LIS periodical today. A few of the periodicals are indexed in well known indexing, abstracting and bibliographic databases. It is observed that most journals were from Delhi followed by West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Nearly eighty percent periodicals are in English, while 17% are multilingual (English with one or more regional languages). The leading regional language is Bengali followed by Marathi and Hindi. It is found that 78% periodicals appear in printed form, 10% in online electronic form and 12% publications appear in both printed and electronic form. Also, 93% periodicals are found as closed access publication, while only 7% are open access. Among Indian LIS periodicals, 35% are (quarterly) and 31% (bi-annual). The proportion of monthly and annual periodicals is 9% each. Mushrooming of open access LIS periodicals has been observed since 2010. The paper analyses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in order to examine the librarians' behavioural intentions to use cloud computing applications. A questionnaire was developed using three TAM instruments: attitude, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness to measure the librarian's behavioural intentions of cloud computing applications use. Four hundred and seven library professionals completed the survey that measured their responses on perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude and the behavioural intentions on the use of cloud computing applications. Results show that librarians' perceived ease of use had significant impact on the attitude towards use. Further, perceived ease of use severely influenced the perceived usefulness of the cloud computing applications. G2C (Government to Citizen) information services under the e-Governance initiatives have become a major area of research across the world as the initiative is meant for enhancing the participation of the general public in governance. Giving focus on North East India, the present study has been carried out to analyse the usability of the services by the citizens. A pilot survey of 54 stakeholders (citizens) who have different backgrounds in Manipur was carried out. The findings of the survey bring to light, facts on the awareness and usability of G2C information service under the e-Governance initiatives in the state. The paper also aims to assess the usability of the services under the initiatives. This paper provides a brief picture of Koha software adoption and the users' perceptions about it in the Indian library scenario and evaluates the satisfaction level of Indian library professionals with Koha. Access to content through consortia approach is becoming prevalent in libraries. This paper discusses the status of consortia in India and portrays the challenges of e-resources access and describes how the changing landscape of libraries, information products offered by publishers and emergence of e-learning environment is influencing consortia. The article concludes that we need to focus on more effective consortia models for just in place delivery of content for greater user convenience. Setting up of institutional repositories has been gathering momentum in India and many academic and R&D establishments have made it mandatory to set up institutional repositories. This paper briefly details the work that has goneinto setting up and configuring the digital repository of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MOES). The repository has been setup using the free and open source software, GNU Eprints.org (http://eprints.org). Examines the applicability of Lotka's Law as a general inverse power (α ≠2) and as an inverse square power relationship (α = 2) to the distribution of the research productivity in Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. Two datasets of the research papers (6076 and 17681) contributed by CSIR's scientists during the period of 1988-1992 and 2004-2008 were collected from SCI-CD-ROM and Web of Science respectively. A K-S Test was applied to measure the degree of agreement between the distribution of the observed set of data against the inverse general power relationship and the theoretical value of α=2. This is a study of the services provided by Indian libraries during the COVID-19 lockdown and the problems faced by the libraries in providing their services. Using a Google Forms questionnaire survey, responses were sought from librarians through library groups covering schools, colleges and universities, mailing list forums and WhatsApp/Telegram groups. The findings show that libraries strived to stay connected with the users and provided remote services. The present study on the use of both external and internal grey literature by CSIR researchers shows that technical reports are most used followed by doctoral theses. It was found that engineering and physical sciences laboratories use more internal grey literature than chemical and biological sciences laboratories. These and other findings help is framing content development policy for technical grey literature, framing policies for internal grey literature archiving, designing digital repository framework to archive internally generated grey literature and improve access and devise ways to enhance their visibility and use. An analysis of 5317 articles and reviews published in 46 Indian science journals indexed by Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) during 2006 indicated that these journals predominantly published domestic papers. About 40 percent of the papers published in these journals were cited in the international literature during January 2006-June 2009. The proportion of cited papers and the rate of citation varied for domestic, foreign and collaborative papers, as well as among disciplines and publishers. The analysis indicated that collaborative papers had the highest rate of citation per paper. The Indian Journal of Medical Research published by Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi had the highest citation impact. Analyses articles in Baltic Astronomy published during the years 2000 to 2008 with regard to distribution of contributions, authorship pattern of contributions, distribution of references, analysis of length of papers, etc. Out of 8489 references appended, 1521 (17.92 percent) appeared in the year 2004. The degree of collaboration for the period 2000-2008 was 0.89. Authors have primarily relied on journals followed by books, conference proceedings and reports. Authors from USA have contributed maximum number of papers compared to other countries and India stood 21st in the ranked list. Astrophysical Journal topped the ranked list of journals cited by the authors followed by Astronomy and Astrophysics. It can be concluded that top 20 journals cited by the authors cover almost 87.60 percent of references and also indicates that collaborative research is prevalent in astronomy research. The present study aims to explore the use of Web 2.0 tools and technologies among the library professionals in academic libraries in India. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire mailed to respondents from 46 central university libraries in India. The findings suggest that there exists a fair level of awareness and familiarity with the Web 2.0 tools and technologies among the library professionals. Knowledge of national research trends and thrust areas as well as R&D capability in solar photovoltaics has become all the more essential following the launching of the National Solar Mission in 2010. The present study analyzes the status of solar PV research in India encompassing aspects such as pattern of output, impact of research, thrust of research; identifies the leading agencies, institutes and authors including their research thrust. Finally, the paper looks into the pattern of collaboration in Indian solar PV research including academia- industry collaboration. The study concludes that a comprehensive mapping of solar PV R&D capability of India should be taken out on a priority basis in order to make effective R&D strategies to take advantage of supportive policy initiatives like the National Solar Mission. Artemisia is a herb that yields a natural component known as 'Artemisinin' which is being used for the treatment of Malaria worldwide. This paper uses data indexed in the PubMed database for the period of fifteen years (1996-2010) to study the research on Artemisia. It has been found that publications on this subject grew to 712 percent in 2010 as compared to 1996. China is one of the countries that has contributed a number of publications in this area. Aerospace scientists and engineers of 16 selected aerospace organizations of Bangalore were surveyed during May 2008 to February 2009. Analysis of 583 responses from 650 distributed questionnaires (89.7 percent) revealed that reading e-journals saved time and helped scientists and engineers to gain more scientific knowledge, resolved technical problems, resulted in faster completion of tasks, helped in becoming more organized in archiving papers, helped in obtaining information related to specific experimental processes, helped in exchanging (received, distributed) more journal articles with colleagues, etc. ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) was applied for testing the significant difference among the 16 mean scores obtained from the scientists and engineers of the aerospace organizations about their â€~strong perceptions about e-journal access.â€(tm) It was observed that all the 16 organizations show a significant difference (P < 0.05) in their mean scores. Examination of 2450 papers published by foreign authors in 284 Indian science journals from 1311 institutions spread over 102 countries indicates that Asian countries are the largest contributors to these journals. Turkey, USA, Iran, China and Nigeria contributed to about 48% of the total foreign-authored publications. Most of the prolific institutions are situated in Turkey and Iran. The largest numbers of contributions are in the discipline of medicine followed by chemistry and material science. Attempts to find out the information needs of the persons engaged in the agricultural activities particularly farmers community in the rural areas of Manipur. Data on farmers information needs were collected by using pre-tested semi structured questionnaire and data processed and analyzed through Minitab-software. The paper highlights the channels of getting information by rural farmers' community in order to fulfill their information needs. The observations of the present study have also revealed that rural farmers community need a variety of information but the required information for their day to day agricultural activities are unmet. A total of 2603 research articles published by the scientists of Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) during 1991 to 2007 were collected by scanning of annual reports and Journal of the Indian Potato Association. Majority of the scientists preferred to publish research papers in joint authorship (82.67%) having 0.82 degree of collaboration.
