A tank with large capacity and high position results in a negative impact on structural seismic resistance usually, but these tanks can be modified to act as tuned liquid dampers (TLD). A high-rise steel structure with 14 stories with this kind of tank is analyzed in this paper to introduce the action about the tank-TLD. A finite element fluid-structure interaction model is established for ABAQUS software and the effects of different parameters, and the optimal parameters about the tank-TLD are studied.

The experiments of a five-story steel frame on shaking table verify that the slide-roof system can markedly reduce vibration. When the ground motion is strong, the vibration reduction is effective and the influence from the static friction is little. The experiments show that this slide-roof system possesses good robustness to its friction.

Solar energy is a new manner of clean energy with potential for development in the 21st century. In light of the design of TLD (Tuned Liquid Dampers), the technology of solar heated water system is innovatively put forward to supply hot water for residents. Particular attention is given to analyze the limitations of TLD system. Taking a high-rise building of Baotou as an example, the amount of solar radiation is calculated and data collected are presented in Baotou. There is a focus on counting the load of solar heated water through the life water demand, which determines the area of collector. Finally, the feasibility of solar water heating system is showed in the results by the utilization of TLD system, which provides a certain reference action for future research work of TLD system.

This paper presents an overview and example using optimization techniques in casting numerical simulation. Most of the design work can fulfill with the software without human intervention. It really frees the engineer from the amount of trial-and-error that is necessary in traditional modeling.

Two kinds of methods of casting process for shaft locking pin were introduced. Simulated and analyzed the casting process by ANYCasting. Predicted the potential defects, resulted in a relatively optimized design. Replaced the traditional trial-and-error test with computer simulation, reduced design time and improved design efficiency.

According to the analysis of Nuozhadu's core rockfill dam over its relationship of material balance and progress coordination between filling and excavation engineering, by means of linear programming method, combining with the actual construction, mathematical model of earthwork allocation optimization is established. Through using the actual application, it achieves the goal of saving resources and cost, reasonable and fast construction.

For machining of hard and brittle materials, iron electrodeposit is a kind of matrix material with potential advantages for manufacture of diamond tools. Aiming at the problem of difficult codeposition of diamond in iron deposit, this paper adopts orthogonal design of experiment to study the effects of solution pH value, cathodic current density, alkylphenol polyoxyethylene (10) ether (OP-10) concentration and ammonium chloride concentration on codeposition of diamond, and then Fe-based diamond bits were fabricated and drilling tests in granite were carried out. The results show that pH value, cathodic current density, OP-10 concentration and ammonium chloride concentration all have statistically significant effect on codeposition of diamond in iron deposit, whose contributions to the variance of the weight of codeposited diamond are 37.45%, 32.05%, 13.13% and 12.38%, respectively. The result of drilling test indicates that Fe-based diamond bit can achieve much higher penetration rate than common Ni-based diamond bit.

In order to develop the green manufacturing and microfabrication, an innovative micro-electrochemical machining (ECM) method¬¬-the electrochemical machining in pure water was studied. On the base of experimentation principle, ECM set up was developed for engineering application. Water dissociation mechanism is found under the function of cation exchange membrane, and many factors to enhance current density were analyzed. As a result of technological test, a micro hole is machined in the thin stainless. It is confirmed that electrochemical machining technology is feasibility to make use of pure water as electrolyte.
