In order to realize the zero-range-target simulation, the echo delay simulation method for the fixed radar and simulator is given. By this method, zero-range target simulation can be realized. Finally, it is verified by a computation example.

The Paper discusses the experiences of Singapore in city image building under the guidance of urban planning. By making use of such methods as documentary study and on-the-sport survey and starting from an angle of city image association, three elements for city image building are established and, based on those, the strategies of Singapore in city image building are touched on, mainly reflecting in following aspects: 1) with regard to city image mind identity, Singapore has undergone a transition from ‘Instant Asia’ to ‘Your Singapore’; 2) with respect to city image behavior identity, citizens, enterprises and government are encouraged to jointly participate in marketing city image and 3) as for city image visual identity, it has strengthened heritage protection, built the brand of cultural entertainment, planned and modeled city image by taking culture as guidance.

This study examines the garden spaces of buildings in China’s Chengde Mountain Resort. Based on a literature study and field survey, we sorted out and analyzed the functions, building quantities, types, and methods for composing 142 groups of garden spaces. We concluded that the garden space within the resort could be divided into 6 types and 97 models of space composition. Additionally, we found that the performance and characteristics of a garden space are related closely to the personality attributes and behavioral patterns of its users (e.g., original owner).

This study visited Japanese landscape construction practices and divided paving into 4 categories: smooth paving, brick paving, permeable paving and wooden paving. We try to summarize characteristics of each type and analysis how to use them. Through Japan paving materials research attempts to find starting point of improving the quality of landscape construction, starting from the landscape materials, so as to promote the development of landscape industry.

This paper analyzes the applicability of group form theory within today’s dynamic environment by taking Maki’s Hillside Terrace complex as an example. The development of Hillside Terrace complex is resilient and adaptable to changes over time. It preserves the original spirit and character by creating urban open spaces for all kinds of human interaction. It provides inspiration for today's urban design.

By featuring buildings as pure objects, modern architecture neglects the implications of what happens in between buildings [1], which is resulting in the disappearance of character of the unique places. Hawaii State Capitol building is a symbol of modern architecture in downtown Honolulu, it adopts modern aesthetic and functional design to reflect the aspirations of a modern and progressive society, yet it is deeply rooted to Hawaiian tropical climate, natural landscape, multi-culture and history. The Capitol building has been merged within the building’s geographical context and culture context. It preserves the Hawaiian sense of place; fosters the sense of belonging for local habitants. The aim of this paper is to investigate how modern architecture can help individual find his place in the midst of nature and in the midst of community under the pressure of social and economic development by taking Hawaii State Capitol building as an example.

Considering thermal residual stress and initial matrix crack, the cylinder FEM analysis model for C/SiC tow was established. The cohesive element and damage criterions were introduced to simulation the initiation and propagation of interphase crack processes of C/SiC composites. The thermal residual stresses release with the initial matrix crack and the cracking on interphase. The interphase crack length was dominated by the performance of interphase. Analysis demonstrated that the CZM model can simulate well the thermal residual stress and the delamination of the interphase.

Trucks play a significant role in transporting freight through the ground transportation systems, and it is important to be able to estimate and predict the amount of freight in a highway network. In this study, truck weight and volume data, obtained from Weigh-in-Motion stations in California, are analyzed to examine temporal and seasonal patterns. Then coupled with socio- economic variables, a hierarchical regression model is established for estimating freight demand. The model reveals that truck freight demand can be estimated by the truck annual average daily traffic along with the population, number of firms and median income at that county level. What is more, it has a predicting capability of freight weight where no truck weight data is measured. Therefore it can be served for practitioners to predict the growth of freight demand in a freeway network, and is useful to achieve the optimal flows design of cargo at all segments, regardless of whether or not weight data is available.

Based on the analysis of the woven structure, the compressive fracture process and strength of a 2.5D-C/SiC ceramic matrix composite were investigated by the classical laminate theory. The porous composite was regarded as a spatial layered structure, and the two classes of the warps and wefts in the 2.5D-C/SiC composite were treated as the corresponding layers. The strengths of the C/SiC bundle and C/SiC lamina were determined, and the compression strength for the composite was calculated by progressive fracture method of the layers and elastic degradation. The failure mechanisms and the angles of the compressive fracture surfaces coincided with the experimental result well. It was demonstrated that the strength predictive method of the classical laminate theory can be applied to the analysis of 2.5D-C/SiC composite.

Lane departure warning system is an important element in improving driving safety and the main difficulty of which is to detect and recognize lane markings quickly and precisely. In this paper, for satisfying the quickness and precision requirement of recognizing lane markings, a novel vision-based lane markings detection and recognition method, which mainly comprise of two steps, is proposed. The first step of which is to roughly determine the ROI of lane markings by means of projection, while the next is to precisely detect lane markings by combining Hough transform with the least square method to fit straight-line. Large amounts of experiment indicate that the proposed method can rapidly and precisely recognize lane markings from sequential images.
