In this article, the author reflects upon the study of archaeology and its relationship to climatic changes. Particular focus is given to how contemporary culture could learn from this history. Additional topics discussed include the 1000-year cold snap known as the Younger Dryas, the "Year Without a Summer" in 1816, which may have been caused by a volcanic eruption in Indonesia, and how megacities that exist in 2016 are vulnerable to flooding and other extreme weather events.
