Abstract

The article discusses the study on the association between childhood separation anxiety, sensitivity to carbon dioxide, panic disorder, and the effect of childhood parental loss. It is said that 700 adults from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health Twin Panel were the subjects of the research. Psychiatric interviews, history of childhood parental loss and separation anxiety disorder symptoms were used to assess lifetime panic disorder. Results show that shared genetic determinants were the cause of childhood separation anxiety disorder.
